Bumping this case in light of alleged serial killer Bruce McArthur's arrest.

Wonder why they deemed Ronald Thomas Gale, then 22 years old, a person of interest in the case but only after RTG's death???

If the police were willing to go out on a limb and say "if he were alive today we would be arresting him" it's very likely they matched Ronald Thomas Gale to a DNA sample. He was likely in the DNA database but they hadn't got around to checking the Pearce sample or entering Gale's sample into the system until after he had died.
