No drugs, alcohol detected in slain Burnaby girl's body: toxicologist

Micheal Rosland, a forensic toxicologist at the RCMP lab, told the Ibrahim Ali trial this week that tests detected no alcohol or drugs in samples of blood and eye-fluid from a 13-year-old girl found dead in Central Park in July 2017.

YES!!

Nov. 17, 2023
Crown prosecutors wrapped their case in the murder trial of a man accused of killing a young teen girl in a Burnaby, B.C., park six years ago on Friday.
[.....]
It has been more than seven months since prosecutors first laid out their theory of the killing to a jury at B.C. Supreme Court in Vancouver.

The trial, which was originally scheduled to last three months, has since heard from more than 40 witnesses.

Prosecutors have also entered about 50 exhibits of evidence, including videos of the victim recorded just hours before her half-naked body was found in Central Park in the early hours of July 19, 2017.
[.....]
It remains unclear whether the defence will call any witnesses of its own.

Well tried that Burnby News place - and it wants me to undo my - not going to happen... to I will go ahead & wait - maybe someone else can find something.
Maybe the defense already rested?? Jury has case??

Ibrahim Ali's lawyers have told the jury in his first-degree murder trial they will not be calling any evidence in defence of allegations he sexually assaulted and killed a 13-year-old girl in Burnaby, B.C.

Defence lawyer Kevin McCullough told the jury the Crown hasn't met the burden of proof to find Ali guilty.

Justice Lance Bernard told the jury Tuesday that closing arguments from both the Crown and defence are expected to begin in about a week.

Gross.

Ibrahim Ali’s lawyer says the young teen girl he’s accused of murdering in a British Columbia park wasn’t the “innocent” depicted in a “rose-coloured” portrayal by the Crown at trial.

According to the article linked above, the prosecution finished their closing arguments yesterday and defense is doing theirs today. So hopefully, yes, the jury will have the case today.
