GUILTY Canada - Jessica Newman, 24, Calgary, 10 March 2015 #2

Something beyond dreadful happened to that girl. I can't help thinking she got caught up with people who had more money than she did, lived a more affluent/glamorous life and when she tried to get away she 'knew too much' and was killed. I could see a young mom wanting to cut ties with any kind of toxic elements just before getting custody rights back.
I am not suggesting Jessica was directly involved in a life of crime, but it gives me pause knowing she was at one point denied unescorted custody. Knowing a little bit about child protection from a previous career, and find this odd.
No doubt CPS is well aware of any influences in this young woman's life, and they will unravel this.
I'm not seeing any affluence though. Look at where she was living, and the roommate... waitressing... very amateur model photographs. If you look at the FB memorial, the photos of her and friends don't seem glamourous, jet set, or wealthy... quite the opposite actually.

I am very curious about COD here. I don't want to be too morbid, but for some reason I'm thinking along the lines of strangulation/asphyxiation. If this was a murder for hire kind of thing, then maybe gun wound.

Either or... it could have been a rejected overture, or date rape drugs gone wrong as well. The possibilities are endless.

I am still confused about the court date relating to child custody. Would the guardian of the child in question have needed to be in attendance at the hearing? IIRC in the recent interview with Jessica's mother she said she had two of Jessica's children living with her. The other child lives with Jessica's father. So no paternal parent has custody of the children? Are all the children in the care of Jessica's family? So who else was involved with this courtcase? Were Jessica's children's guardians in support of Jessica having guardianship? I wonder if the paternal father was fighting to get his kids back and if child services was ever involved or if Jessica and the fathers agreed to have her parents raise the children from the beginning. She was 16 years old when she had her first child. It seems very messy.

I wonder if the child's father pays child support to the guardians.

I am confused about the whole situation as well

I wonder if Jessica could have been pregnant at the time of her disappearance.

On the find fb pg someone said that the three were living with 3 separate family members with the oldest living with the maternal grandfather. I thought the youngest lived with his father and that is why JRN was going to court and the middle son RT expressed concern about on the find fb pg because he was so far away and was reassured by someone posted that they were looking out for him.

That was my assumption as well. The ex that wasn't still an ex was seeking 50/50 custody so that he could go to work.

I agree, OOTD, I was speculating about who she might have become involved with. And the fact that she might have tried to distance herself before getting her child back...Just speculation on my part, thinking about the presence of organized crime everywhere... and the attraction of having a better life.

I thought so too. How sad if the brothers from same father were split and not raised together. I am quite certain I heard an interview with RS that she has the two boys and had to explain that their mother had died. I am trying to find the interview.

I think one lives with JRN's mom, one lives with JRN's dad and one lives with KCR

"Stewart says the hardest part has been telling Jessica’s children about their mother’s death.

“That was horrible… I told the children [Tuesday] morning and they’re taking it pretty well. I kept them home from school and we’ll just spend the day together.”"

I am sure I heard RS talk about the two children living with her. However, I do know RS has her own children living at home so possibly she is including them in her comment.
