Police renew appeal for information about man missing since 1992
"Leonard is the first case in a new weekly initiative by the force’s missing person unit to publicize Toronto’s 600 historic cases dating back to 1944.
“We review them on a constant basis, we’re still looking for them,” Det. Mary Vruna, head of the MPU, told CTVNews.ca.

“In some cases people don’t want to be found.”

Vruna said some missing persons may not want to be reunited with their families, but the force could let relatives know they are still alive.

She assured those missing people that the police are bound by confidentiality and have a duty to make sure they are safe.

“We can let family know they are still alive, but we won’t give information out if they don’t want,” Vruna said.

Toronto also has 76 cases of unidentified human remains dating back to 1953."

John is a heavy gambler, has attended gambler anonymous a few times. His gambling is mainly horse racing, and definitely not $10 or $20 bets. Quite sure police are aware of this.

May I ask why you thought I might be confused with a Irish footballer?

Toronto police missing persons unit highlights historical cases in hopes of getting new tips
"Det. Mary Vruna is one of the investigators in the unit. She said there are approximately 600 missing persons from all parts of Toronto, and some of the cases date back to the 1940s.

“As part of our review, we’ve decided we want to relaunch and revive certain historical cases to see if we can yield any information in relation to any missing people,” she told Global News on Monday.

Vruna said the unit will put out details of a case, which will be about a missing person or unidentified human remains, on a regular basis in the short term.

"Police said it’s not known at this point if Leonard’s disappearance is criminal in nature or not, noting he may have changed his identity and someone may know Leonard."

When asked about the chances of finding someone after such a lengthy period of time and getting people to remember details of disappearances, Vruna said investigators are always hopeful.

“You don’t know unless you try,” she said."
