CANADA Canada - Lorraine Roach, 58, Peterborough ON, 11 May 2013

Also here is the reply I posted from http://www.unsolvedcanada.ca/index.php?topic=6847.60 incase I missed something

jobo: Well she might not have been missing since the wed night... but that was the last time she was seen at the casino and we are unsure of what happened the thursday and friday
My dad has his own truck yes. He idnt really ever drive my moms van

We would like to do more searches yes and I will mention this (starting/ending from the van to the house)

Thank you jelly bean. Also, no they arent 'avoiding' questions, there was just a bit of a situation previous to all this and it kind of got tangled together and words were not shared like maybe they should have been.
Agreed, a robber would not have left the ring
The police have her computer right now but it is a VERY slow process. (they also have my dads) I got a chance to look through it for a few days before they took it. I went on her accounts and emails and never saw anything. She wasnt too computer savey and I didnt see anything weird or odd. Her cell phone also hadnt been used in awhile... it was more for emergencies. I called rogers a month later to check in and there was still no activity on it. It had been out of use for about 5 months before it got cancelled due to inactivity.

Concerned: she was not seen or noted by the casino as having any big winnings. She allegedly came back at 1:30am sat for more money to play...
She never really had any money/cash on her and there wasnt any in the van or the $200 she got the sat morning. She did not have any money in her bank account as she was on disability and there were no withdrawels.
There is a house at the top of the hill that the police talked to so assuming no video from them as well as the other house at the other end of the road...
She did say to my aunt (her sister) that 'she should go be with her daughter in australia' and gave hera tv and microwave they had an extra of.... so there might of been something going on in her mind.. but what. where is she now

. . .If she had a panic attack, which could of happened... where is she now. She needs medication for her heart and there has been no use of her health card etc and no name changes (like maiden name or other family last names)
Could you clarify on that a little more docwho3?. . .
Getting by on false ID and /or doing everything by cash for a time before setting up a false ID sounds doable. I don't know how badly she needed her meds but I have 4 stents in my heart and I could do with out my meds for awhile if I had to although it would be risky.

I am curious as to how she behaves when having a panic attack, especially having one when driving. Does she freeze in place or stop and get out of the car or other?

. . .ALso she was not an angry woman no... Her anger came out in sadness and depression...
I asked about anger and money management issues because those can be things that show up as part of depression in some people. (I have seen such things first hand.) And depression can lead to panic attacks as well.

I'm just biting my tongue in this case. What are the odds that this woman got pulled over on a rural road in the middle of the night and her van got turned around in the opposite direction? Just a question.

Have been thinking of the Roach family a lot recently as the one year mark has passed.

Speaking from the perspective of someone who has recently been affected by a missing persons case, my suggestion to the Roach family at this point would be to speak to ANYONE and EVERYONE who you think might have information. Postering, Facebook, and Twitter are great ways to post public updates, but they are not the investigative approaches you need at the moment. The OPP and missing persons units have a variety of valuable resources, but as its been said before, they rely on solid tips and information to necessitate searches. The families and friends of missing persons need to do their own research too. It seems unfair but we need to be our own advocates and our own research teams too. No one knows our loved ones like we do, and no one else has the intuitions we do. Dredge until you find a lead, follow it, and involve the police when you can.

Roach family, if you suspect someone to have information - don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today. Make those calls. Knock down those walls. Interrogate. Search. And don't stop until you have answers. In my personal experience, our ultimate lead was discovered through personal research, electronic searches, phone calls and tireless hours of searching physical locations. We must do these things for ourselves - we can't leave that up to others.

The recent news in this case is troubling, it seems one side is against the other. I was shocked to hear the stepson's comments about not having the opportunity to speak to Mr. Roach - this is a YEAR later! I hope for the sake of this family and for the wherabouts of Lorraine that they can all work together and help solve this case. One whole year has already come and gone, I pray another year is not lost, and no further opportunities are missed.

Welcome to Ws. Slooth and thanks for the excellent advice!
Hope you found your loved one.

The body was not of Lorraine Roach, but an artist missing since December.

However, a billboard was unveiled today. I hope it leads to some answers for the Roach family. The article also states that police suspect foul play; I'm not sure if that's been officially confirmed before or not, though it was pretty easy to read between the lines.

I wish they had said the remains were male, it was so close that I thought her family might get closure, finally after all this time.

I don't recall seeing this before. I think this is important.

Hoping for justice for Lorraine (assuming foul play)!
:please:

While looking through my local news for info on another story I came across this info regarding the search for Lorraine Roach. I wondered if anyone had posted her case on Web-Sleuths and decided to check and found that some has already done so. I thought you might be interested to know that the OPP (The Ontario Provincial Police) are once again searching the property of her husband. http://www.durhamregion.com/news-st...erty-of-missing-peterborough-woman-s-husband/

That's an excellent link with lots of good info.

What stood out for me was the date....she went to movies alone on Friday two days before Mothers Day. Mother's Day can be a real emotional trigger for moms of grown kids. Maybe she wanted a change of scene, is it possible that she could have gone to a different casino for a change of pace - like Port Perry,? Her actions of going to cinema alone were out of character according to the article at your link and made me think she wanted a change of scenery (MOO)

I bit my tongue in the past and am biting it even harder right now!!

I think most of us can figure out what happened to Lorraine.

Hugs to Lorraine's kids. :grouphug:

A lot of really inconsistent stuff here.

Going to the movies alone was unusual and not a common thing for her.
The property behind the home was never searched until now?
She wasn't actually at any casino the weekend she went missing.
Her player activity didn't reflect the same thing the husband said?

I feel so sad for her kids. :( I sure hope they find her soon.

I agree. Now the police must find the remains!! They suspect foul play, but do not have any definitive proof.
And someone is digging their heels in and telling little.

New.

"The Ontario Provincial Police executed a forensic warrant on Tuesday to search the home of a missing Peterborough, Ont., woman whose disappearance 17 months ago remains a complete mystery.

Lorraine Roach, whose 60th birthday is next month, was last seen on May 11, 2013. Her minivan was found at the side of Lily Lake Road, west of the city, with many of her possessions inside. It was an area she would commonly use to go back and forth from the city to her home in Selwyn Township.

Roach's daughter is speaking out, making a public appeal to help find her mother.
'I have hope that my mom is alive'"
