GUILTY Canada - Melissa Peacock, 20, Dartmouth NS, 7 Nov 2011

Meanwhile, the Cape Breton Post has tracked down the hockey bag's a original owner.

A man from Glace Bay who wished to remain anonymous told the paper the bag belonged to his family member who had participated in minor hockey.

The bag was full of moldy hockey gear and they threw it away, but some kids in a truck took it from the curb, he said.

This is news to me too although not surprising news. The police have said they thought Melissa was victim to foul play but have never said homicide before that I can recall. Looks like the Truro force will be at the police conference as well but I thought that the Windsor detachment covered the Gore area.

Hopefully they have some solid evidence and solid leads.

Police confirm 20-year-old Melissa Dawn Peacock is now the subject of a homicide investigation. RCMP, Halifax Regional Police, Truro Police and Justice Minister Ross Landry are set to hold a joint press conference at 11 a.m. to discuss the details of the case.

Speaking to News 95.7 Minister Landry wouldn't get into detail about the case.

"[We'll be] elaborating at [the press conference] to the particulars around this matter," he said. "Any time there's a loss of life in Nova Scotia it's a serious matter. It impacts the family, the community as a society it's very important to assure that people are brought to justice." http://www.news957.com/radio/news957/article/379418--melissa-dawn-peacock-case-a-homicide

Just heard on radio News357 (sorry no link) two males were arrested for her murder and were arrested yesterday & charged with with lst degree murder.

Dustan Joseph Preeper, 24, and Joshua Michael Preeper, 20, both of Kennetcook, Hants County, have been charged with first degree murder in the death of Peacock.

Insufficient evidence at this point in time to proceed wth case
September 9, 2010

snipped...A family member outside the courthouse said the court decision was, "devastating."

"He was one of my friends since I was a baby so I'm sick, man," said a relative who asked not to be identified because of fear of retaliation by Preeper's supporters.

"Our family and our town is in jeopardy because of these dangerous people," said another family member who also wished to remain anonymous.

"I am devastated that they couldn't get it together to put (Preeper) away."

Radio again (no link), New957 just said they were able to make a case because of a tip for the reward. Hey, whatever works!

Again we have a murderer who was set free only to reoffend again and murder a young woman. What is going on in Nova Scotia? Ugh!

So whose body was in the hockey bag? Was it ever revealed?

Offered 47 days ago - it seems - S O M E T I M E S, rewards work :woohoo:

Now we need Melissa home!

ETA: sidenote on the offered reward - snipped from link...

The reward is being offered under Nova Scotia’s Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program.

Under the program, anyone who comes forward is expected to provide their name and contact information and may be called to testify in court.

Human remains were found at a property in Colchester County Tuesday.

"While the RCMP are working with the medical examiners office to identify the remains, it is the strong belief of the investigators that the remains are those of Melissa Peacock," said Chief Supt. Brian Brennan at a press conference Wednesday.

Today, a 24-year-old woman was arrested in connection with Hare's death. She's currently in custody, confirmed Truro police.

Dustan Joseph Preeper, 24, of Halifax, and Joshua Michael Preeper, 20, Kennetcook, Hants County, have been charged with first degree murder in the death of Peacock.

Dustan Preeper has also been charged with second degree murder in the 2010 death of Ben Hare, 26.

Looks to me like there has been a round up of sorts. Dustan Preeper charged with two murders (Melissa Peacock and Ben Hare). Joshua Preeper charged with the murder of Melissa Peacock. An unidentified 24 year old woman taken into custody today in connection to the murder of Ben Hare.

A Halifax woman faces a second-degree murder charge in the 2010 death of Ben Hare in Truro.

Barbara Elizabeth Marshall, 24, appeared briefly in Truro provincial court this morning to face the charge.

She was arrested on Wednesday outside the courthouse.

Marshall is the second person charged in Hare's death. Dustan Preeper was also in court Wednesday to face the same charge. Court documents list the same address for Preeper and Marshall.

Thanks Summer Breeze. May Melissa's family start on the road to healing as much as what they can. And may those responsible for her death face the full consequences of the justice system. A beautiful young girl whose life was taken too soon. Rest in peace Melissa as you are now found and the suspects are behind bars. It is very hard to imagine what your last few hours/minutes on earth were like - very hard to even think about really.
