A flight attendant from Pakistan has been missing for days after arriving in Toronto on Friday, according to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
“One of our crew Mr. Ijaz Shah who operated as operating crew on PK781 of 14Oct went missing after the flight,” Abdullah H. Khan, PIA general manager of corporate communications, told CTV News Toronto.
The PIA flight from Islamabad landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Friday at 4 p.m. He was officially declared missing after he didn’t show up to the return flight he was scheduled to board on Sunday, Khan said.''

''TORONTO – Another flight steward of Pakistan International Airlines has managed to slip away in Toronto, Canada.

Aijaz Ali Shah was an attendant on flight PK-781 from Islamabad to Toronto, PIA officials revealed, adding that Shah was not part of the crew when the plane was returning to Pakistan.''

''According to a PIA spokesperson, national flag carrier’s air hostess Fareeha Mukhtar boarded the PIA flight PK-789 from Lahore but as soon as it landed in Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, the crew member disappeared mysteriously and never boarded the return flight''

''Fareeha Mukhtar, who was suspended from service in 2015 over allegation of smuggling of currency and mobile phones, went missing following the Lahore-Toronto flight. Mukhtar was earlier barred from service on all international routes, including the US.''

...Shah quickly moved towards the Canadian immigration counter because he was the first person in the row but he then disappeared as none of the crew members could find him again at the airport.

...This was the third such instance this year, despite measures taken by the PIA to stop such occurrences, Dawn reported.

Wondering why these people are so desperate to leave Pakistan and why they do not apply to legally live here like honest people do? imo

The immigration process is extremely lengthy, EXPENSIVE, and then after all your hard work they very well may not approve you. I can't blame people for not wanting to do it/quitting and immigrating illegally. I know a few illegal immigrants in my home state said the process was above their head mentally and no help is provided filling out the paperwork. You're on your own. And it's hard. You have to learn more about America than Americans know, in some cases! And you have to be a saint all your life to make it in here. ONE arrest for something very minor can get you turned down or deported if found out (and they WILL find out)

A person can apply legally by showing up at the Canada Immigration counter at the airport and applying for asylum or refugee status. So it seems he made the approach, but then disappeared. It's not clear whether or not he filled in his application. He may have applied and asked for protection, in which case he may have been removed from public view. In that case, the crew would not be able to find him, but Canada Border Services would still be in contact.

Pearson Airport is so desperate for flight attendants that they probably kidnapped him. Heh!

Not trying to trivialize the situation there, but catastrophic flooding in what is now Pakistan has been an issue for millennia:

ETA for wording
yes but it's been in the news lately for just *how* bad it has been, and shortly before the queen died she even acknowledged the recent flooding and sent her sympathies - i believe she even cancelled her appearance at something out of respect for Pakistan? if i remember correctly. it's a very very scary time there.

''Just over a month ago, Ijaz Shah, a PIA crew member, touched down at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Oct. 14.

Two days later, he was scheduled to work on a return flight to Islamabad. But the airline said he never showed up.''

“He has been reported to Canadian Border Control for action at their end,” Khan added.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said it could not comment or provide details on specific cases.''

...Flight attendant Faiza Mukhtar, who was scheduled to return to Pakistan the following day on flight PK784 to Karachi Jinnah International, reportedly "did not board the flight and disappeared," PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez Khan told The Media Line.

...The PIA spokesperson also added that "crews seeking asylum are common throughout South Asia and other developing countries, therefore this situation is not exclusive to PIA."

According to Canada's Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, foreign nationals need not obtain a temporary resident visa if they seek to enter and remain in Canada as a flight crew member.
