TORONTO - A serial bank robber known as the Mummy Bandit has become more violent and is “acting like a crazed animal,” Toronto Police say.

The **** is now wanted for 10 robberies in the Trinity Bellwoods area since October 2013.

In the latest heist Monday afternoon at King St. W. and Strachan Ave., the Mummy Bandit — who police say is usually armed with a handgun — also had a box cutter knife and held it against a bank employee’s throat while demanding cash.

“He is acting like a crazed animal — out of control, putting a knife to the employee. There is no need for this,” Det. Mike Earl said Tuesday.

“He has committed robberies in the past without this violence,” said Earl, who fears the robber is on drugs and has been noticed to smell of alcohol. “Something is causing this aggression.”

That's a pretty decent picture of the man. Surely someone will recognize him.

He looks much younger in this earlier video,( something taking a toll on him?)
LE say he walked hunched over, ( to appear shorter?) 2 rings on his left hand (hide a tattoo?) Did he get the lipstick and scarf from a g.friend or mother, ( his own?) Somewhat flat foot, or ill-fitting boots? fwiw, imo.

Unless his "un-madeup" look is still madeup.. ie. eyebrows darkened, lips lightened or enhanced, nose seems very narrow in relation to mouth, imo.
Maybe cosmetic work is in process? Perhaps explaining initial covering up" mummy" style, make-up, drug/alcohol use for the pain - and of course, need for lots of cash?
    Just speculating, fwiw, imo.

Interesting way of walking, also wondering if his face was singed by an abrasive whitening product, or a fire ?
Pants rolled up, too long, or for some reason...to avoid contact with the ground?

" Mummy" suspected of being at it again!

    http://www.citynews.ca/2014/06/22/mummy-bandit-a-suspect-in-danforth-and-broadview-heist/

"With a slew of bank robberies in the Trinity-Bellwoods area already attributed to him, police said the “mummy bandit” is a suspect in Friday’s heist on Broadview Avenue just south of Danforth Avenue.

The man, thought to be responsible for 11 bank hold-ups over the last nine months, got his moniker from wearing either makeup or a scarf to cover his face.

Police told the Toronto Sun while he’s done away with the disguise, they’re concerned he’s moving out of his comfort zone and getting more aggressive with each robbery."

“I think he’s changed things up because of the publicity and extra police presence in that area,” said Earl, who believes the man may have a substance abuse problem.

He said the latest robbery was similar to the previous heist.

“He went right behind the counter, pulled out a gun and a knife and demanded cash,” Earl explained.

And while the Mummy Bandit didn’t grab any tellers this time, he said the man was still quite aggressive.

“He shoved the weapons right in the bank employees faces,” Earl said. “They were horrified.”

The bandit ran off south on Broadview Ave. with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police have released numerous images of a man, captured by bank security cameras, and Earl is convinced those who know the man will recognize him.

“With this escalation of violence, hopefully somebody realizes this guy has gone too far and comes forward,” he said. “All we need is one person to step up, make the call and tell us who he is.”

I have doubts if that is the real nose of this brazen fool. A little to prominent and would throw off people that knew him. Jmo.

Actually, his lips seem distorted to me as well as the nose - result of grainy photo?

Botox? Something seems wrong with the overall look.

I know they say white but for some reason I'm getting an Asian vibe. Why don't banks have metal detectors and armed guards?

"Toronto Police Staff-Insp. Mike Earl, who heads up the holdup squad, was tight-lipped about the arrest Thursday night.

“There may be more accomplices,” Earl said. “I need to be fully briefed before sharing information. I don’t want to compromise the case.”

    http://www.insidetoronto.com/news-s...-capture-the-mummy-bandit-toronto-police-say/

" The suspect had gone through several methods of operation over the years, which led police to first nickname him The Thriller Bandit because of the way he dressed, Kwong said, adding he didn’t have specific information about the suspect’s appearance.

The alleged robber would then paint his face like that of the Joker in the Batman movies, causing police to dub him The Joker Bandit. He then switched from painting to wrapping his face, hence the nickname The Mummy Bandit.

At first, officers thought they were dealing with three different suspects, but investigators determined it was the same person, Kwong said.

“This was a huge success because of public tips,” he said. "
