Former Toronto police homicide detective and CP24 crime specialist Steve Ryan said he guarantees investigators will be able to make an arrest in this case.

“It’s a fantastic first step for Durham Regional Police,” he said. “That was a daunting task for them to identify who those remains belonged to and now that they’ve done that they’ve got something to work from so now they’ll get into this young lady’s past.”

“Right now the focus is on the body parts that they have in custody, the DNA testing that will be conducted on those parts and the police might get lucky and there might be DNA left by the offender on the body parts.”

After confirming her identity, police are asking anyone who had contact with Hache prior to Sept. 11 to contact investigators at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 5407 or ext. 5319.

Body parts, how horrible especially considering this girl was only 18 years old, just barely an adult.
Hoping they find the perp/s soon, it is so creepy to think of monsters who would do such a thing, living as if they were human beings, imo..

Speaking with CTV News Toronto on Friday about the incident, Hache’s godmother Krisha Meeldyk said she does not understand how this could have happened.

“She’s beautiful, vivacious, smart,” she said. “We were just having a discussion last night when we were sitting around and remembering her fondly obviously that out of the children she was the smarty-pants. It didn’t matter – nothing fazed her and if you had something to say you had to go into another room just to make sure she didn’t hear you because she just swallowed information.”

Meeldyk said Hache was a very active member in the Oshawa community as she participated in many events. Her family and the Oshawa community centre she frequented grew concerned after she stopped showing up for a while.

“She was there all the time so when she did not show up -- we’re talking almost two weeks at that point -- he said that he had been going by her apartment to see if she was okay and he asked me to do the same. She just wasn’t there – she wasn’t coming back,” Meeldyk said.

“I didn’t take that too well but how do you tell your mind that it’s her? You don’t. You believe that she is okay. That moment was pretty significant for me,” she said.

“I just wanted her to come home.”

TROUBLING LINKS TO HACHE MURDER

Is there a sinister plot afoot to murder young people in Oshawa?

Dominik Prusinski, 21, was a friend of Hache.

And he’s dead, too.

On Jan. 8, the amiable young man staggered into an Oshawa police station bleeding profusely, telling cops he’d been stabbed in a house on William St.

Prusinski — described by family as “very trusting” — died in hospital the next day.

More recently, another teenage Oshawa girl has disappeared.

Savannah Powell, 15, disappeared Oct. 7. Police say she was last seen at her home and the family is concerned.

Me too. I am familiar with the area and the downtown core is host to a number of shady characters. I wonder if she knew her perp(s).

I guess there could be so many possible leads at this point it is hard to tell who it might be.

Since her disappearance, Guindon said he keeps thinking about the final hug from Rori, just before she vanished. Did she know someone dangerous was closing in on her?

“The way she clung to me just before her disappearance was not usual,” Guindon said.

That hug left him feeling oddly helpless, Guindon said. That’s an odd feeling for him. He’s a Hells Angel biker with a lengthy jail and prison record for drug offenses and a tattoo on his back announces his fight record while behind bars - 41 wins and no losses.
His father Bernie Guindon, 75, boxed internationally for Canada and was founder of the Satan’s Choice Motorcycle Club in the 1960s.

She had lived with him and his family last year when he was under house arrest on drug charges. She also spent much of her time in Oshawa’s downtown core and frequented The Refuge, a youth centre downtown.

Guindon said he had just given Rori and her mother $1,000 to help with living expenses. He had also bought her new shoes and clothes.

She had been murdered in a most heinous manner that left even veteran detectives shocked by the brutality. Rori was pregnant at the time and sources tell the Toronto Sun the fetus had been cut from her.

Weeks later, Durham Regional Police — who have been tight-lipped on their investigation — say there are no updates.

Rori’s family and friends are carrying on with a memorial service Saturday in Memorial Park. The public has been invited to bring food donations, her uncle, Harley Guindon said in a Facebook post.

The service begins at 3 p.m. and features a eulogy by Rev. Teresa Guindon.

“We are not here to talk amongst ourselves about the horrific circumstances surrounding Rori’s passing, but to embrace this moment in time to share our loving thoughts and happy memories about such an amazing young woman who touched so many lives in her 18 years,” said Hache’s aunt Rev. Guindon said in an interview that the family is devastated, that there are no words to describe their loss.

“My sister lost her only child. Her only child,” Guindon said. “It is so heartbreaking to lose her this way.”

She describes Hache as a young woman with a big heart, who loved animals, cared deeply about people and was a Christian.

"Rori is love," reads an excerpt from the program handed out at the memorial. "She had a compassionate heart and her desire was to become a veterinarian. She had a heart for the poor and homeless people in her community."

I think police should be looking at this guy: Adam Strong of Oshawa. He was arrested yesterday and charged with indignity to a body. Body is a female. No ID on the body yet. No homicide charge yet but I think this will be upgraded. I will hold off on posting his facebook but it's easy to find. He lives in downtown area of Oshawa. There is a connection with this guy and the lake too.

Durham Regional Police say a man has been charged after a body and a “suspicious package” were discovered inside a home in Oshawa on Friday night.


Officers were called to a residence on McMillan Drive, near Bond and Centre streets, at around 7:30 p.m. after receiving a call about a body in the basement.


When officers arrived on scene, a deceased female was found inside the home.

Durham regional police said the investigation is in its early stages, since they could not enter the Oshawa, Ont., home until the suspicious package had been dealt with.

Const. George Tudos said people in neighbouring homes were asked to leave for their own protection while members of the explosives disposal unit assessed the package.

He said a citizen called police to the home after finding the body of an unidentified female inside.

He declined to share the person’s name or age, adding that an autopsy will be conducted later on Saturday to determine the cause of death.

Adam Jeffrey Strong, 45, has been arrested in connection with the death, which has been ruled suspicious
