CANADA Canada - Ryan Shtuka, 20, Kamloops, BC, 17 Feb 2018

Any updates on searches in 2023? I've been wanting to volunteer but they aren't widely advertised 5 years later.
The best way to stay updated on future searches is following his mum, Heather, on FB. She posts in the MISSING:RYAN SHTUKA group almost every week and would be the one organizing more searches. I haven't seen any inklings of new searches in a while though, it seems family is currently more focused on keeping Ryan in the eyes of MSM and Heather is busy with her new book.

With the help of search dogs, volunteer group continues nearly 2-year search for missing B.C. woman

...In addition to looking for White, the volunteer group has also assisted in searching for other missing individuals, including Ryan Shtuka, last seen at Sun Peaks Ski Resort in February 2018, Ben Tyner, who has been missing in Merritt since January 2019 and Madison Scott, whose remains were discovered near Vanderhoof last month after having been missing for 12 years.

RCMP say cases of White, Shtuka and Tyner remain under investigation.

Honestly the work on Ryan's parents and close friends should be a blueprint for other families of the missing... they've done such a good job of keeping his story in the public eye and garnering interest for 5+ years through different techniques, like his mum's writing, the documentary, lots and lots of flyers during those first few months (the flyers spanned multiple cities), the FB page being public so others can post, billboards and signage, the 'dinosaur' motif being easily recognizable and reproducible, and now the dinosaurs you can purchase and photograph like a travel buddy (any other canadians remember sending flat stanley by mail in school??).
of course, i'm aware just how much work they've put into it all, and it's not easily reproducible for most other families. but still, they'd be a great resource for others!

A Run for Ryan - February 17, 3:00 p.m.
On Saturday, February 17, at 3:00 p.m., gather with us at the top of the Sunburst Express chairlift for the sixth annual 'A Run for Ryan.' Let's ski down a 5-mile run in recognition of the joy Ryan found on the slopes.
Afterward, we will head to the top of Tube time (where Ryan worked) for some complimentary hot chocolate. Thank you to Sun Peaks Corporation for creating and hosting this annual event. We are forever grateful for your continued support. Candlelight Tribute - February 17, 7 p.m.
Later that evening, around 7 p.m., I'm asking everyone to join us in lighting a candle in remembrance—just a simple, beautiful gesture to celebrate the joy and love Ryan brought into our lives.
️

As a family, we have decided not to organize a candlelight walk through Sun Peaks this year but instead ask everyone to light a candle in remembrance. We have long struggled with the idea of how to mark the anniversary of Ryan’s disappearance in a way that not only honours our son but feels organic and true to where we are as a family now. Spending the day doing the things Ryan loved doing in Sun Peaks will always have meaning. It is a way to create lasting memories that are not just filled with tragedy and grief. Skiing, connecting at Tube Time, and reminiscing with friends and family continue to be important. So, this year, we’ll focus on the things that mattered to Ryan. Who knows…that may change going forward, but for this year, it just feels right.
We are immensely grateful for your continued love and support. Let's come together on Feb 17 to remember the passion that defined Ryan's spirit.
