A visibly emotional Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair confirmed Wednesday morning that an 11-year veteran with the police force died after being struck by a truck with a plow on the front. Sgt. Ryan Russell died shortly after being rushed to hospital early Wednesday morning. "He was a fine police officer and a great servant to the people of Toronto," Blair told reporters outside St. Michael's Hospital. "He was out doing his job in the early morning hours in this city, in a very dangerous situation. He put his life on the life and tragically he has lost his life doing his job.
