GUILTY Canada - Shannon Burgess, 25, Calgary, 26 Nov 2014 - #4 *Arrest*

I wonder what made the workers notice the body *today*, if the body has been there for awhile.

.... A worker has discovered a woman’s body in a ditch near Balzac.

....

“We went down to take a look at it and it actually was a dead body and it looks like it’s been sitting there for a little while, naked, three-quarters naked,” xxxx said.

The fact the worker referred to the remains as a body makes me think JRN as opposed to SB. It is a remote area, kind of. There is lots of activity in the general vicinity. Easily accessible by back roads, and not far from Cross Iron Mills, the huge mall. Century Casino and Racetrack just opened not too long ago.

It's not really near either. Street view just shows fields.

This makes me think of the report of the woman abducted two blocks from where JRN went missing... She was taken out that way.

After thinking about this for a bit, I am still unsure. While I realize it is not "near" either place, it is still in the general vicinity. I used to drive these back roads all the time. No way it takes 18 mins to drive 10km, especially on the 566. There are houses and acreages and a fair bit of activity in this area. While "remote" location wise, I still find it odd that a body there for a little while wasn't noticed. I suppose the late fall/winter growth in the ditches may have played a part.

Newstalk: I agree completely. Frightening in many ways.

Jumping of your post...

We have to be careful making assumptions based on the reports that the "body was there for some time" because it doesn't take long for a body exposed to the elements to decompose. Within a week, a body is unrecognizable if left exposed.

Fair enough newstalk. I suppose my assumption was that it is either JRN or SB, which then leads to the assumption the body has been there for a while. The man who found it claimed it was a body, 3/4 naked and had been there a while. The author of the article states female body, which I assume (there I go again) they would have gotten from the man who found it. You are correct however that decomposition would be fast, and so the timeframe is questionable. Thanks.

Was she? I thought she was taken towards Chestermere. Hmmm.

If so, this could mean a potential serial.

Possibly the construction workers were chopping weeds in the ditches...

Like I said, it is often difficult for a layman to be able to determine how long a body has been decomposing. A "while" is a very broad term, given that they didn't state whether it was almost a skeleton or just badly decomposed.

I am more concerned about the three-quarters naked part. I think they could tell it was a partially naked body.
