GUILTY Canada - Tess Richey, 22, Toronto, 25 Nov 2017 *Arrest*

The police very obviously didn't suspect foul play, my suspicious mind assumes that's because one or more witnesses told police things to convince them foul play was unlikely. .

I wonder if it was possible to access the stairwell from the lane running behind Dundonald? Getting there via Church St. would be longer/much more likely to be seen.

Whoever it was, IMO, knew about the stairwell beforehand. It just seems way too convenient to have that kind of private/hidden yet easily accessible place handy.

No, I don't believe so. That other side is boarded up (the part that fronts onto Dundonald). In many photos you can see the boards blocking the lane.

You can also see how accessible this stairwell is.

As an FYI, another woman has been reported missing from the same area just today. (there was another reported last weekend but she has been found)

People in the area are worried. Someone just posted this message too. https://scontent.fdet1-1.fna.fbcdn....=eada6d48e225c92488b6503f51d25b2a&oe=5A98480E

There has been a string of disappearances in the area, dating back to 2010, mostly involving gay men, but accelerating this year.

just now seeing that it's been changed to homicide and that her mom found her
so sad

Photos show extremely easy access - the stairwell is not boarded up. loads of people would have walked by in the days she was missing. For this reason I am unsure whether she was there the whole time.

It's not unusual to hang out with strangers in Toronto, but it's unusual to leave a friend behind in the company of strangers at that hour.

At that hour on a Saturday night there likely would have been a lot of Ubers in the area. I've read that she "missed the ride" which must mean that the driver cancelled it after waiting. I can't imagine it was a very long wait so it seems that whatever happened to her occurred between her calling the Uber and its arrival. Article says she called it to that area specifically so I imagine it was to the house (50 Dundonald) or to the corner of Church and Dundonald.

Someone mentioned cameras on the front of the house. Sadly they are likely not in use. This used to be a restaurant called Maison-House. Photos of it when it was still open show the cameras so they were probs using it then but they likely are not operational anywhere.

The house is currently undergoing renovation to be the new storm crow manor. The owners have been in and out and renovating and I've seen security company signs around it ... the parkette across the street is shady. Not sure if the claims of security are a bluff but here's hoping, i certainly wouldn't be surprised considering they likely have tools/equipment in there.

you want the security claims to be false? huh?

Canada - 3 men missing in same Toronto ON neighborhood, 2010-2012

happy to report that the other woman reported missing from the area was found alive about an hour ago. she was missing for not very long but there was definitely something weird up.

Badly worded on my end! Sorry--
Heres hoping they are not (a bluff) and that the security system (cameras included) is up and running/exists given they presumably have items they would like to protect as part of the renovation. I saw a report that mentioned that the police were "looking at security footage".

An additional interesting note- I have heard rumours from a few places that claim a black car claiming to be an uber has been pulling up to individuals in the village waiting for ubers and pretending to be their ride / asking them to get in. Wether this is true or if this is panic is to be determined but its certainly interesting given recent events.

"......One, two, three, four, five security cameras are all within 20 metres of where Tess Richey’s lifeless body was found.

And those are just the ones you can see.

Homicide Detective Graham Gibson is appealing for people in the area to tell Toronto Police about some of the surveillance cameras that aren’t visible.

The ones police do know about must be enough to cause whoever strangled the 22-year-old woman some sleepless nights. One thing myself and Toronto Sun photographer Ernest Doroszuk noticed is there seems to be three of the five video cameras pointed directly at, or near, the very staircase where Richey’s body was found at the bottom of last Wednesday......."

Police have released the description of a POI:

It is believed that Tess Richey was in the company of an unknown male when her friend departed the area.

She would have been in the company of this male on Church Street, in the areas of Wellesley Street and Dundonald Street, between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m.

This unknown male has been described as white, taller than the deceased, approximately 5’7” - 6’, slim build, light-coloured short hair.

Investigators are looking to identify this male.

Odd that there's been no sign of these missing people, months later. Makes me think they can't be in the area, alive or dead.

It seems from the announcement about the person of interest, that the man hanging out on the porch was not living there or known to the people living there. He could have left with Tess, or followed her.

It seems unbelievable that her body could have been in the stairwell for the better part of 4 days, but if the perp didn't live right there, I can't see how her body would have been moved. If so, I think people must have seen her there who didn't call police.

If it was a false Uber driver, I can't see her body being left in the stairwell right where she was picked up. More likely the car would immediately leave the area so as not to be noticed.

I definitely shared a screenshot about this upthread.

Let's wait to see the camera footage. I'm not convinced her body was there the whole time. Possible of course. But that no one thought to check when this is so close to the street is nonsensical to me...

There has been speculation in the area that there is a man posing as an Uber driver .. On reddit, a few people mentioned that this man aggressively tries to get you into his vehicle. I, thankfully, havent come across it yet as I'm in the area every day at 3am.. but its terrifying to think of.

[h=1]Family of Tess Richey says mother found her body, police looking to ID 'unknown' male[/h]
[h=3]As police continue to investigate, some in the community are mobilizing to take safety into their own hands[/h] By Shanifa Nasser, CBC News Posted: Dec 04, 2017
Andrew Horberry, president of the Church and Wellesley Neighbourhood Association, is one of them. "People are worried obviously, there's been a number of incidents and maybe they're connected maybe they're not connected. We don't know," Horberry told CBC News. "But every one is a cause for concern."

[h=2]'I do feel unsafe'[/h] That anxiety has prompted Horberry to seek out volunteers to help him organize a walk-safe program in the neighbourhood.

The details have yet to be ironed out but the program could include a buddy system that would allow people walking alone to call for someone to accompany them, or a telephone monitoring system for people to remain on the line with someone if alone.

That's welcome news to Jessica Redwood, who says she no longer feels safe in the neighbourhood where she's lived for six years.

"When I first moved here, I felt perfectly safe, never had a concern about walking home on my own.... But it's just got to the point where I do feel unsafe."

Dani Rose, another community member, was prompted to put together an online map of unsolved disappearances in the area dating back to 2010.

Rose says she's been tracking the stories in her community for months and noticed a "growing sense of fear walking alone." That fear was only compounded, she says, by the string of missing persons reports this year.

Something very strange is going on in the village.

Yet on CP24 this morning, a crime specialist was interviewed and stated that there's no reason to be concerned. That people go missing all the time, and people can "go missing" on their own accord.

I call BS. A designated task force has been set up by TPS to patrol and investigate the goings-on in the village, and to look into all the missing persons reports. TPS is concerned (albeit, with community pressure). Why shouldn't the public be? People who "check-out" on their own volition would likely contact their loved one's once they became aware of their missing persons report. Their bank accounts wouldn't be stagnant. Their cell phones wouldn't be out of use.

I don't know if Tess' death is a separate situation, or is part of the bigger picture, but it's certainly a reason to be concerned. Why weren't TPS truly looking for her? Why did the family have to organize a search, and her mother find her daughters body? Why do they (TPS) gloss over these details, and mislead the public when speaking to reporters? It sounds like they were quick to dismiss this as suspicious from the beginning. Enough is enough. This keeps happening by TPS and it needs to end.

It doesn't matter what you sexual orientation is, your gender, what you do for income, if you were using drugs or drinking. Everyone's lives matter, everyone is worthy of being found. May Tess rest in peace, and may her family find closure and justice swiftly, and may the healing begin soon.

agreed. I dont understand.. she went missing, police said they put up a command post, they searched the area.. but she was found feet from where she went missing. Her mom finds her days later.. why didnt the police? either she was there the whole time or put there later.. i dont get it.

I wonder if LE have gone back to the house where Tess and her friend were last seen and questioned the female that was at that house they went to after the club. (presuming that she lives there?)

I read that they don't even really remember much of who these two people where, or how they ended up there, but if Tess's friend can somehow give the vicinity, then LE can canvas the area. (which I'm sure they've done this already)

Somebody knows something.

P.S - the description of the male that we are given from the media is so vague. THE AGE RANGE is not there?? The description they gave is like finding a needle in a haystack IMO
