Found Alive Canada - Wanzhen Lu, 22, Kidnapped, Markham, Ontario, 24 Mar 2019

It depends on their criminal charges/records as to whether they will be allowed into the U.S. (assuming they are not using forged documents/passports).

However, the first three identified suspects have all been previously arrested, most recently in 2018.

1. Abdullahi Adan:
York Region Police released two mug shots of him, one dated 2018 and the other dated 2015.

2. Hashim Abdullahi :
Police release names of people charged in Project Traveller raids

"Some of those charged in the Toronto area include ... Hashim Abdullahi, 28" (He is 33 years old now)

3. Not in custody (Canada Wide Warrant): Muzamil Addow
He was arrested September 2018 (cocaine, guns, ammunition)along with others named in the following news article.
9 charged, cocaine seized by gun violence suppression unit

This is curious..
April 8 2019
Gravenhurst Parkway Fire Deemed Arson, But No Connection To Wanzhen Lu Kidnapping Case
"OPP say a fire that destroyed an abandoned residential structure on Gravenhurst Parkway this past weekend was a deliberately set case of arson."
"Reading also says there's nothing that would lead police to believe at this time that the fire had anything to do with the recent Wanzhen Lu kidnapping case. Police have received inquiries about whether there was a connection, because of the relatively close proximity of the blaze to the place where Lu was located.

The property the fire broke out on was near Muskoka Airport - Lu was found in Gravenhurst on nearby Doe Lake Road the evening of March 26th after being freed by his captors."

That is excellent news. That means that they've messed up their opportunities to easily leave the country, although they can still use the border holes that immigrants have used to illegally enter Canada.

So here's the condo builder website for the complex WL was kidnapped from:

What I can gather is 15 Water Walk Drive is Building A according to the site plan.
Parking spot

According to real estate listings, Occupancy was estimated for April 2018. So the residents have only been there a year or less.

Rental searches shows some listings for units in this building are available privately for rent by owner. So it appears not entirely occupied building with empty units.

Just throwing this out there as it might have some significance.
Maybe the building was targeted and they just grabbed the first lambo owner they found. Reports have several high end luxury cars in the parking garage.

I've found some info on WL family background, not sure if it's allowed to post about their occupation and sources of income. There's somewhat of a controversy in China among citizens there over the family's wealth or more specifically how some of it may have been acquired.

So here are some of my questions regarding that article. Was WL's father actually "hiding" money through his son? Is he still here and is he planning to stay here? Especially now that it appears his wealth is being questioned in China? Is WL an only child and does the family show any wealth in China? Why doesn't that article mention WL's mother's family is supposedly wealthy?

And again, out of the 6 million people in the GTA, how did these 4 men choose WL as a target? Were they recruited by someone and for what reason?

it does:

YorkRegion.com, citing anonymous police sources, reported that Lu’s father is the head of an organization responsible for building temples and churches in China, and that Lu’s mother’s side of the family was even wealthier.

Wealthy Lifestyle of Chinese Student Kidnapped in Canada Draws Attention to Case

This article links to a Chinese language Canadian news media Singtao (which is Hong Kong based as they say):

https://www.singtao.ca/3345699/2019-04-04/post-陸父是宗教界猛人-掌管海南道教會/?refer=toronto

This is very much MSM as far as Chinese language media is concerned. So if you trust my translation (I read and write Chinese) here are some points:
  • WZL sits on the board of a Chinese tourism property development company. That may involve his family connection. The chairman "may be" his uncle.
  • This company is the developer of a tourism hotspot in Hainan province, where the Taoist temple is situated. The leader of the Taoist association in Hainan is "rumoured" to be WZL's father.
  • The company had invested hundreds of million RMB (Chinese "dollar") in building the Taoist temple. It is currently developing a Confucius temple, as well as a medical/cultural centre, of similar value in money terms.
  • It has significance not just in the provence but nationwide.
So it looks to me that religion is very commercialized in China. And our victim is not faking rich, that is pretty certain.

Thanks LadyL, I guess what I meant was why didn't the new info that this news source gathered from the media in China mention his mother's family and their supposed wealth?

I see Via Marple is able to translate for us, huge thanks for that! And it appears that the media in China are only focusing on the father and his family and connections.

This has become a bit of controversy in China because the father’s position isn’t one that’s supposed to pay well enough to afford the lifestyle the son enjoys. It’s a cozy job with benefits but not to the level of a $600k CAD condo , multiple luxury vehicles and $2k Gucci sweaters and such for a child studying overseas. The belief is that he’s skimming the donations/entrance fees from his religious organization, these are always paid in cash by patrons and it’s money that’s supposed to be used to go towards building new temples and renovating religious tourist sites.
WL is listed as an “Executive” in his father’s organization according to the Chinese site mentioned previously. So is he taking a salary even though he’s abroad for school?
The mother’s family is reported as “wealthier” but no details have mentioned in Chinese media.
There’s also a strict regulation on how much money a Chinese Citizen can send abroad each year. The limit is $50K USD per person per year . The Family has clearly found a way around this given the condo was paid in cash plus the other luxuries.

Western media tends to shy away from Victim-blaming so we’re not going to hear a lot on the family unless it’s somehow connected to the kidnapping.

There are a LOT of Chinese nationals that break that law. Is buying property considered the same as ‘sending money abroad’?

Of course but many of them aren’t scheming and have legitimate money. For a price you can go around the rules quite easily. There are financial firms here that even help facilitate breaking this rule lol Canadian banks help Chinese flout their laws to get piece of ‘smurfing’ billions

The issue is where did the money come from. If the family was legit wealthy and owned some large manufacturing or tech firm people wouldn’t be making such a big deal over it.
The 50k USD limit rule is on any money sent out of China, for any purpose.

The Singtao article IMO makes it look like they are legit wealthy. Property development is supposed to make money. You would think WZL has shares and not just salary from the business.

I have heard that Singtao news is controlled by Chinese government interests too. So it's more of a clue that their money is legit, their government is not going after them anyway.

I don't read any Chinese social media so I can't comment on any else. I guess they have plenty of conspiracy theories on MH370 tooo_O
