The Cott hotel/Lakeside Drive-in abduction.

They might not have a good description of him. The girl said,

“My friends kept telling me to go to the police but what could I tell them? I couldn’t remember what the guy looked like or what his car was.

He didn’t say anything that I remember – he didn’t try to talk or call out.

I think he was more stocky than tall but I wasn’t looking."

But I agree police should release any description they have.

Do you think this is related?

A good chance.

How many rapists working one area at one time can there possibly be? I've lived in the same geographically area (200k people) for 20 years and not one serial rapist. The specific area of Cottesloe, Swanbourne, Claremont and Nedlands (50k people maybe) seemed to be a hot bed of activity in the early to mid-90s.

i fail to see how dna would degrade after lets say 1 hour after the rape. from what ive been reading in 95 the cops were clued up on dna and were freezing samples. in MY opinion the karakkatta rapist would of left a ton of dna after the rape which was matched to CG and this is why dixie and the likes have been ruled out

everyone here is assuming the DNA is taken from seminal fluid -- it may not be. If it was taken from hair it may be degraded by dying / bleaching / drug intake or medical condition of offender. Some people have naturally degraded hair cuticle / cells.

This has never been confirmed.

Dixie was cleared in 2006. Why wait 2 years to clear LW?

The CIA episode was a campaign to get info. Why bother with a known sexual pervert and a martial arts expert? Why not just test them?

CG lay undiscovered for 19 days. JR for 56. A bit of research will tell you the chances of getting a dna read are slim.

I've recently come across another article in which Caporn states a few things about DNA; and one of the most important things is that when PathWest commenced screening DNA samples extracted from prisoners / offenders / etc. wayback in early 2000s they ended up with 34,000 DNA samples -- apparently only being able to cross-check something like 34 per week. Slow slow process.

Also have a look at this article re Julie Cutler. In particular the paragraph that starts with "The Sunday Times understands...". Very very interesting. One (1997) news article I posted a couple of months ago detailed items being collected by forensics teams at the CG site and that included cigarette butts. A couple of years ago there was a news article about a memorial plaque for Julie Cutler and in that it was detailed that police were checking cigarette butts found in her Fiat 125 vehicle -- apparently there were of a different brand than she smoked. The Cutler article also detailed that her sister knew of the cigarette butt testing but would not divulge any further information.
