Dominguez's sentencing is scheduled for September 12 and Minjarez's trial is scheduled to proceed through August 29.

Closing arguments were completed on Monday and the jury has yet to return a verdict.

PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) - UPDATE (8/27/25): Corena Minjarez was found guilty Wednesday of killing two children and hiding their remains in Pueblo.

Minjarez was charged with two counts of murder of a victim under 12 by a person in a position of trust, and two counts of abuse of a corpse. She was found guilty on all four counts.

The Southern Colorado court sentenced Minjarez to life in prison for counts one and two, and 120 days for counts three and four. The counts will run concurrently.

7/2/25 Update: Must have plead guilty, next plea sentencing hearing on 7/10/25 @ 1:15pm.
7/10/25 Update: Dominguez took a plea deal in Pueblo County Court Thursday, pleading guilty to second degree murder after investigators say they found the remains of two young children last year. Today in court, the judge said Dominguez’s plea deal includes him cooperating with the DA’s office to testify in Minjarez’s trial, which is set to start Aug. 11. Dominguez faces a possible sentence of 16 to 48 years in prison. His sentencing is set for 9/12/25 @ 11am.

PUEBLO, Colo. — A Pueblo man who pleaded guilty to a murder charge in connection with the deaths of his two children was sentenced to decades in prison Friday.

Court records show Jesus Dominguez Sr., 37, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in July as part of a plea deal. Two first-degree murder charges were dropped, as well as two abuse of a corpse charges and a theft charge. He was sentenced Friday to 32 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections.
