This is kind of a silly courtroom and I am wondering what the poor jury is thinking. Is the jury present?

I’m interested in hearing him talk about interactions between humans/dogs in a close relationship and the reward response in dogs, but I don’t think he’s quite qualified to speak about transferring that specifically to HRD. I’m sure the general principles would transfer to the HRD/trainer relationship.
If his testimony doesn't comport to specifically HRD dogs the prosecution can bring that up. But I feel that he does have the qualifications to give the jury and us additional information about the lack of reliability of HRD dogs and their handlers. JMO

Yes I heard that he was flying home. Heard Judge say- that is or could be a problem. Not verbatim.

That's good point. The dog shouldn't be trained on two different things. Scent discrimination and HRD. JMO

With all the interruptions today and long lunch, wonder if they will go past 5:00 ? Judge just said Dr. Ha has a flight to catch tomorrow.

This testimony about the pillow from MR's house vs scent articles from Elaine"s house has me confused.

It sounds like he’s saying that the reason the dog didn’t smell Dylan on the pillowcase was because Dylan emitted different smells at Elaine’s house vs. Mark’s house and the dog liked the smell he emitted at Elaine’s house better? I’m being facetious, but that’s honestly what it’s sounding like to me.

Some of this testimony was lost to me because I couldn't hear the questions from the defense.

I don't think that's correct.

It had to do with a stronger scent. But the witness said that's why the dog would ignore the pillow. Why would the last thing Dylan laid his head on be "less strong" than scent items brought from Elaine's home?

That's my confusion.

The poor jury! They sit there in silence, the attorneys leave the court room with the witness, the other attorney's leave the court room with the judge! What is this nonsense?

  • #598
No idea but obviously trying to show this as the reason regarding the pillow. Not the fact that most of us feel that Dylan never had the chance to lay his head on the pillow.

I wonder if the Jurors are literally running out of the building

What we don't know is how the coyotes feel
In my area the coyotes are so thin and scrawny (hot dry desert) they seem barely big enough to carry a skull, let alone 5 miles! I'm sure they will do what's necessary to survive though.
