That picture of Gannon on the jetty that she posted shows, to me, that Tee is at the very least, completed demented. Crazy. But not criminally insane. Far from it. She possesses no inherent defect other than her own character, which caused her to do these things. All of them.

And anyone who came into contact with her, IMO, had some clues about it. That's why she kept changing jobs and wasn't in the classroom (and I can't remember if she was being reduced in hours or fired from her job as a curriculum specialist, IIRC, she was or had been removed). I also cannot believe that no other adult ever saw her being abusive in any way with the Stauch children. She cannot change her stripes.

Naturally, no one expects a nutcase like this to kill a child. She knew she was planning to do it (I think she was planning on the hiking trip out to Garden of the Gods). I think she looked around the local landscape for hiding places for a body and for any weapons she might use. IMO. She is one of those people who possesses higher than average intelligence and tries to style themselves as a genius. She snowed the people around her, probably flattered them (she reminds me of the worst sort of gollum in English literature). She likely chose her friends/dating partners according to her own ability to manipulate them (imitating what they thought they wanted in a partner, choosing relatively naive and straight arrow kinds of people).

All of this is my opinion. We all have flaws, but good people solemnly recognize their flaws, apologize when they are displayed and do their best, lifelong, to mitigate them or at least warn people. But certain personalities are entirely incapable of that and I don't think anyone knows what to do with those people - except cut them out of our lives and avoid them altogether.

Right? Me too. Just bringing it up is making me shiver again. @Kiranerys, thank you for the reminder. The crazy never once stopped in this case and it still hasn't.

But she's not insane in the sense the law intends. She has just decided to change her monster costume. The insanity defense has a purpose, but it is not supposed to cover over the crimes of someone like Letecia Stauch, IMO.

Since LS is trying to use the not guilty by reason of insanity, is that actually staying that she is acknowledging her own guilt?

In other words, When the jury throws out the ludicrous insanity claim, are they supposed to take what is left? Which would be a guilty plea.

Don't forget Lieticia pretty much ruining H's chance for a career in the military...it's not like H had one split second to make a decision... I mean, it is, and yet it isn't.

She may not have an army career (not sure why) but I’m sure she can have a successful career. Circumstances are not exactly the same but there is a woman on death row in Oklahoma, Brenda Andrew. She killed her husband. Her daughter, Tricity Andrew, has gone on to earn multiple degrees and has a very successful career.

Does anyone remember when she set her profile on fb as Gannon waving and jumping off a jetty, right around the time her location was showing her as in Daytona beach?.

Michael Allen appears to be a powerful prosecutor so I imagine it's likely.

I haven't followed closely for a while but, if all of this has been entered into evidence (and I will assume it all has) then yes, it's very likely it will all be displayed for the jury. All her posts, texts, videos, GPS data, etc.

Judge Werner explaining to the attorneys (w/o jurors present) NGRI: Technically, from law school, it means I did the act but there is a reason because of something else going on i.e., did not have mens rea (criminal intent).

The answer is yes, defense is acknowledging that LS did the act of murder but lacked criminal intent when she killed Gannon.

And I think it's a very offensive defense to most here.

The good news is the defense won't be drawing on SODDI, and is hoping the prosecution can't prove beyond a reasonable doubt LS was sane. I don't believe the jury will struggle to find LS guilty of killing Gannon while the child was under her care. MOO

*Jury Selection continues (Day 5) & Review Hearing (escape attempt) (@ 9am MT) – CO – Gannon Stauch (11) (reported missing Jan. 27, 2020, Colorado Springs; found Mar. 17, 2020 in Pace, FL., Santa Rosa County; ID’d on June 6, 2020) – *Letecia Lynn (or Leann) Stauch (36/now 39) akas Letecia “Tecia” Lynn Hardin (maiden name) & Letecia Lynn Hunt (1st married name), Tiffany Taylor Stauch & Taylor Swift arrested (in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on 3/2/20) & advised of charges (3/5/20) & formally charged & arraigned (3/11/20) with 1st degree murder of a child under 12, child abuse resulting in death, tampering with deceased human body & tampering with physical evidence. Going for 110 potential jurors who will be back in court on 4/3/23 for final jury selection. 12 jurors & 6 alternates to be picked. 3/20/23: 20 potential jurors. 3/21/23: 18 potential jurors. 3/22/23: 21 potential jurors. 3/24/23: 20 potential jurors. Total so far: 79. Per Judge, each side will have 16 peremptory challenges at the final jury selection.
Trial will begin on 4/3/23 in the afternoon after final jury selection. (6 week trial). Judge Gregory Werner set 4/3/23 as the earliest date that attorneys can begin opening statements, even if jury selection is completed earlier than expected. Trial will start in afternoon after final jury selection is done.
Trial will be from 9am to 5pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday each week. No Trial on Thursdays as Judge has other commitments. No trial on 5/12/23.
