Cook really has no reason to cross with this witness, I don't think. Nothing he can say would indicate whether LS was insane or not.

I was coming to say exactly this. There is literally no point, we know your client threw him over that bridge, how the heck is a bridge inspector supposed to know if the scuzzbag who chucked it over was insane??

That could be it.

But, for the most part, I don't think Cook has a clue.
I really really don’t care for his style at all.

I couldn't agree more. If defense is trying to push that she was insane when she killed Gannon, none of this has any bearing on that. In fact, the fact that the suitcase contained Gannon AND his missing bedding (disposing of evidence), goes to show once again, she was covering up for her actions, pointing directly at knowing right from wrong.

Al is finished and second witness is called, Macon Ponder. He is from Panama City, Florida.

Macon is the senior underwater bridge inspector in Panama City.

Ponder talking about the bridge, Escambia River Bridge, near Pensacola.

He was inspecting bridge and noticed the suitcase.

They were lowering to the ground on the inspection. They remembered seeing the suitcase and then went back to it when they finished the inspection. Prosecutor: "Why did you go back to the suitcase?" Ponder: "Pure curiosity."

Ponder: "I remember saying I don't know what's in this but it's very heavy.”

Ponder said the odor was so strong he thought there was something dead inside of the suitcase. "The smell was so overpowering we took a step back and the first thing I remember seeing was two little feet." He remembers the little socks on the little feet.

Remembers a lot of bedding in the suitcase, a lot of bedding. Said body was in the fetal position partially wrapped up and he turned his head.

One of the bridge inspectors was a volunteer firefighter. They immediately called 911 and ended their inspection.

Going through pictures of the bridge with the inspector.

Ponder pointing to where they found the suitcase. He also just identified the suitcase.

He said where the suitcase was found, it looks like it was thrown right over the bridge and it looked like it fell at an odd angle.

Will Cook with defense is starting cross examination of bridge inspector now.

Bringing up how Ponder said the suitcase was really heavy and felt like it had been waterlogged.

Ponder's finished testifying. Now afternoon break until 3:10 pm.

Maybe he gets paid a word bonus?

I’m sorry. I’m sure this has been answered several times in past threads but I want to know, (but I don’t wanna know.) yes, I wanna know. What were the size dimensions of this suitcase?

eta:
During testimony, Al Stauch described a large green suitcase that was in the storage room of his house. He identified it as the same suitcase found under a Florida bridge with his son's remains inside.

"There were a few things that were broken on it," Al Stauch said. "But the size was the big thing. I remember how large the suitcase was."
The witness just described the suitcase as the size of "checked luggage." GS was described in the fetal position. He was a slender boy and AS could not recall whether he was 5' yet or not so that sounds equivalent to med or large, checked:

The fact that his body was found at all is amazing. The defense wants to argue that his head was damaged by the drop from the bridge?! Well, whatever, Gannon is still dead.

Defense going to try and say the damage to G’s skull was caused by the suitcase being dropped or thrown or some such nonsense.
They tried it at the Preliminary hearing.
Well, he was wrapped in bedding to soften that blow. No such mercy in his bed.

d

Dropped so hard that it set off a gun that was just lying there which disturbed a pile of sharp knives that somebody had chucked..

Probably will try to maintain she wasn't tall/strong/high enough to drop that weight to where it landed at the angle it did..
having attempted to introduce doubt re machinery having somehow moved it..

Same old same old...
Makes no sense unless she's denying it..
possibly trying to introduce doubt about who actually chucked it...?

She would too.

IMO, there's no mistaking a bullet wound to the jaw.

I believe the next witness will be Sgt Yoder. He responded to the bridge scene in 2020 and attended the autopsy.

One year later he was checking on a memorial there and maintaining it.

Sorry I am behind on watching, still listening to the phone calls but I think LS repeatedly asking for immunity and even explaining to Al what immunity is suggests she knows that she did something wrong. Still no mention of any mental health issues either.

Her claims of insanity would be much more believable if she had simply said "I just blacked out, Al. I have no idea what happened after we got home." And left it at that.

If I recall correctly, Spencer Wilson provided that the box truck (moving truck) was parked on the road and LS and HH left in this vehicle.

I wondered if GS was inside the truck at the time she gave that interview!
That's likely, imo

Landen was in court yesterday but walked out at one point. I'm not sure if she's in court today, I can't really tell who the blonde woman is sitting next to Al and the other bald dude.
Probably Landon's aunt. Imo

Bit by bit, T's true self has been revealed.

She underestimated how concerned people would be about Gannon (and for how long and for how far they'd search for him) and overestimated how much sympathy she'd be granted. As in, why y'all crying about Gannon? What about me?

It's stunning.

How cunning, how self-absorbed.

Yesterday in the recording, AL asked her how she'd feel if something happened to H. T paused. IMO not because she was considering that, but because she was weighing whether there was something there she could capitalize on.

Depraved heart. I think what it is is an abject lack of empathy. There's no appealing to decency. No appealing to common behavior.

She's not capable. No capacity for empathy.

There's just her.

It's only too bad her jail cell isn't roughly the size... of a suitcase.

So how did LS think this was going to work: AS (and LH too)was going to accept some bad dude took and murdered my son, and thank G_d he only raped my wife.. but we'll just move on with our lives, and remember Gannon in our prayers. Was that it? Dumb and hated criminals are a reality -- they do exist.

It looks like Al's new wife (pretty sure they're married now) and I think Landen is sitting like a row behind them slightly to the left of them from our perspective.
