How many days had passed at this point? How could it not have smelled?
I think they body had been buried in the snow before it was eventually placed in the suitcase. I wonder if she packed some ice in the suitcase to try and keep it somewhat frozen to avoid the smell?

Addressing one issue, a disc, exhibit 279, which was mistakenly not formally admitted. They're going to deal with that in front of the jury.

Jury coming in now.

The 10th day of Letecia Stauch's trial is underway, the first witness of the day is El Paso County Lt. John Sarkisian. I'll try to tweet updates here as the day proceeds!

First witness: Lt. John Saraisian(?) (Zach Dupont says it's Sarkisian). Been with the EPCSO 22 years. Lots of experience in many different areas. Assigned to Special Operations Division, SWAT commander and traffic when Gannon disappeared. Was assigned incident command for the search efforts. Had done incident command throughout his career, but 'not to this degree'.

Incident command is essentially co ordinating everything so resources are distributed 'throughout the tree' of operations. Biggest operation of his career to that point. A lot of folks came in from Search and Rescue, National Guard, people with drones, etc. "[There was] An outpouring of people who were ready and willing to come out and search."

I assume we'll learn more about the finding of the plywood or particle board (and hopefully learn which one of those it was).

I'm wondering if there will be forensic lab work coming up too - to see if the plywood had T's DNA on it and/or was used in their garage, perhaps to protect the concrete.

#LeteciaStauchTrial: Lt. John Sarkisian with EPCSO starts today. He's talking about the search efforts for #GannonStauch

Lt. is talking about those poles we saw them using in the searches for Gannon.

Drones, K9s, overhead planes also used in the search

This witness is the officer who found the particle board in woodland area. I believe Gannon's blood was later found on that board. moo

Confirms they focussed on Perry Pk area because tracker data showed a vehicle had been in that area, slowed down, revisited. Vehicle was LS's.

Feb 15th. Item located was piece of particle board 2'x2'x0.5".

Showing on map where board was found exactly. Map being admitted.

Admitting disc evidence from earlier at the same time.

Lt standing to point things out on the map for the jury. Sorry, folks, easel is out of camera view. Can't comment on the visuals, since I can't see them.
