28-year-old man missing in Pitkin County | FOX31 Denver

PITKIN COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — The Pitkin County Sherriff’s Office is searching for a man who hasn’t been seen since January 24.

The sheriff’s office said it received a request for a welfare check on Hunter Hyde, 28, on Jan. 25 after coworkers said he failed to show up for work earlier in the day.

Coworkers reported that they were concerned because their calls to Hyde wet unanswered and no one appeared to be at his home.

Hyde was last seen on the evening of Monday, January 24th at his residence in Emma.

Hyde is described as:

  • White male
  • 5 feet 11 inches tall
  • 175 pounds
  • Long brunette hair
The sheriff’s office said they have used aerial searches with unmanned aerial vehicles and helicopters, ground searches, and gained permission from neighbors to search private land.

Pitkin County, Colorado – January 26th, 2022 – On Tuesday, January 25th, 2021, at approximately 1330 hours the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office received a request for a welfare check on 28 year old Hunter Hyde, after Hyde had failed to show up for work earlier in the day. Co-workers of Hyde became concerned when their calls to Hyde went unanswered and no one appeared to be at his residence.


With assistance from the Basalt Police Department, the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office responded to Hyde's residence in the Emma area of Pitkin County, approximately 2 miles southwest of the Town of Basalt. Pitkin County deputies and Basalt Police officers searched the area around the residence and a hiking trail in the area that Hyde was known to frequent. At the request of the Sheriff’s Office, Mountain Rescue Aspen team members responded with an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and ground search teams to assist in locating Hyde. After several hours of searching and daylight fading the search was suspended overnight.


On Wednesday, January 26th at approximately 0900 hours the search Hyde resumed. Deputies from the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office and members of Mountain Rescue Aspen expanded the search area to approximately 10 sq miles and searched accessible backcountry trails and area roads looking for Hyde or any signs of him. The morning’s searches were conducted by UAVs, scent tracking dogs as well as ground teams. At approximately 1400 hours, Care Flight of the Rockies joined the search with their Rifle, Colorado based helicopter.


With no further signs of Hyde and all daily search objectives complete, all searchers were recalled from the field at 1600 hours. Further search efforts are currently being evaluated and planned for in the coming days.

Hunter Hyde was last seen on the evening of Monday, January 24th at his residence in Emma, Colorado. Hyde is described as a 28 year old white male, 5ft 11in, 175 lbs, with longer brown hair. He's gone missing before when LE was looking for him (though that is NOT known as to be why he may be missing at this time) Based on this report from earlier felony arrests he should still be on probation at this time. Chief Judge Patrick Murphy issues arrest warrant for Hunter Hyde If you search the Caffee County Sheriff's FB page with his name there is some interesting information on his history going back to 2018.
 
I couldn't find anything at Chaffee County, but Pitkin has some interesting tidbits. Plus a search brings up a Mountain Mail newspaper account of an appearance where HH claims that HH is a fiction. Sounds like HH might've had a lot going on.
