GUILTY CO - Kiaya Campbell, 10, Thornton, 7 June 2017 *Arrest* #2

So what do we know?

1. We know a girl (KC) is dead.
2. We know the person charged with her murder (AZ) is the son of KC's dad's girlfriend.
3. We know dad lives with girlfriend and her two teenage sons.
4. We know COD could not be determined due to severity of injuries.
5. We know KC was visiting dad, which was a regular or semi-regular occurrence. (We don't know the actual custody/visitation schedule.)
6. We know the person who alerted LE of KC's disappearance was NOT someone in the girlfriend's home.
7. MSM has reported that KC's sister called LE from their mother's house, which is in a different neighborhood in the Denver metro area (Belmont Park.)
8. We know KC was active on social media such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.
9. We know CPS was involved with the girlfriend's family and residence in some way.
10. We know AZ is a twin.
11. We know AZ has been charged with 2 first degree murder charges. One saying the killing was premeditated and the other saying he was considered a person of trust to KC.

What don't we know?
1. Who KC left the house with that night.
2. Other than the person she left with, who the last person in the family was to see KC alive.
3. Why KC's sister would have been concerned enough to call police on the night KC went missing.
4. COD.
5. Why AZ's dad acted strangely with the cross necklace when confronted with the media at the courtroom door.
6. The current status of KC's dad's relationship with AZ's mother.
7. If anyone else was involved in any way with either the murder, the disposal of the body, or any evidence clean up that may or may not have occurred.
8. If a vehicle was in any way involved in the commission of the crime(s).
9. If there was a SA.
10. Murder weapon.
11. True meaning of "severely injured" or "ravaged."
12. AZ's backstory.
13. AZ and KC's backstory.
14. Who was home the night KC went missing (at her dad's residence.)
15. State of AZ's mental health at any time.
16. Specific details of where the crime(s) took place.

I'm curious what evidence LE the DA has to charge with first degree murder with intent and after deliberation. I assume from that charge they have reason to believe it was not an accident. Jmo.

After doing some reading, my interpretation of the 2 charges are: He knew his actions would cause her death and that didn't stop him... think along the lines of overkill. His actions were intentional, not accidental.
I can only assume the cause of death and the condition in which her body was found contributed to these conclusions and the 2 charges.

THIS IS STRICTLY SPECULATION. My thinking on how the sister ended up being the one to make the 911 call. I think she may have tried to call or text Kiaya and got no answer/response. Probably unusual for Kiaya. So sister calls Dad, or one of the other members of the household and finds that everyone is frantic because Kiaya and AZ became separated and she hasn't returned yet and they've been looking and can't find her. I think this is when sister took it upon herself to make the 911 call.

I am glad you put in there that sister was at Mom's. That was what I remembered from somewhere but didn't have time to look for it yesterday.

IMO

This is what the father of the 15 year old boy charged in the murder of 10 year old kiaya said to me in court @DenverChannel

But Kiaya's mom says she has two kids and they are a boy and a girl.

I couldn't make it all out either but I got this

"God is good, God is merciful, it's all about god"

Something about following the laws of god (waving his bible) and that "we're here to talk about god"

But Kiaya's mom says she has two kids and they are a boy and a girl.

Exactly, so where did the media or anyone come up with 'sister'? So annoying that it hasn't been cleared up yet from the one that started that. If you make a mistake, backtrack, own up to it and clear everything up.

Thanks for posting.

As a mental health professional, this raises some alarm bells.

Kids who kill: How Colorado handles juveniles convicted of murder

At least 59 inmates convicted of committing murder before they turned 18;
38 of those offenders were 16-years-old or younger at the time of the crime.
Of these offenders, the youngest killer at the time of the murder was John Engel, who had barely turned 14 when he killed his mother and adoptive grandmother in 1999.

I think this is what he rambled:

"God is good, god is merciful. It's all about god"

[reporter tried to ask "Do you want to say anything to Ky...." but he kept rambling]

"When will we repent, when will we return back to god?"

"When we will start abiding to the laws of man that god has place upon us "

"we are where to talk about god. They (pointing to man who escorts him out) want me to stop. They (pointing toward reporters) want me to talk about god "

Suspects Dad is definitely over the top.

As a Christian, if the suspect were my child, I would be devastated. Yes, I would call on God, but quietly in prayer. I would pray that my child would find God, repent his sins and spend the rest of his life (even if he were behind bars) serving the Lord in whatever capacity possible.

Dad walking around with a Bible, preaching to everyone will not save his son. JMO IMO Hope I didn't step on any toes by stating my religious beliefs. I respect all people and their individual beliefs.

Does this state acknowledge common law marriage? And if so, how many months of living together does it take to qualify ? TIA. I ask bc I've seen the accused referred to as "step brother."

If she was restrained in any way, would he also have kidnapping charges?
