Please continue discussion here in accordance with The Rules:

Quick rundown of reminders from prior threads:

Rumors are not allowed.

*As Barry Morphew has now been charged with Suzanne's murder, he and his businesses are now open to sleuthing.*

Do not sleuth or make accusations against anyone who is not an officially named POI/suspect.

If an approved source discusses rumors or family members, it is still NOT allowed to do so at Websleuths. WS has different standards.

Preview your posts to avoid broken quotes.

Lengthy personal anecdotes are off topic. Stay on topic.

Discuss the case and not each other; state your opinion and move one without arguing or bickering.

Random youtube videos or blogs are not allowed unless approval is given by Tricia or Admin.

Approved sources are MSM, LE, Profiling Evil podcast, Lauren Scharf podcast or social media, Investigation Discovery, Crimeonline, Tyson Draper (only the interview with Barry Morphew), public documents.

Do not discuss removed posts or question/challenge moderation on the thread. Doing so is subject to an automatic Time Out.

(* Admin Edit: to indicate that sleuthing Barry Morphew is now allowed)

Oldies have seen this a lot, but maybe new posters have not.

I make Case Archives for cases on request. I save everything I can find, more or less.

Suzanne Morphew Main Case Archive is from the beginning to the arrest.
From now on, all that is nothing to do with BM will be added here. (funeral, remembrances, etc)
Suzanne Morphew -CO-

JUSTICE for Suzanne sub-section is all about what happens to bring BM to prison for life. (imo)
JUSTICE for Suzanne

MM talked about SM going to Al-Anon meetings to discover herself and that SM was making progress. I would imagine that didn’t sit too well with BM if SM was finding her voice. For MM to have to think and pray about it, it doesn’t sound like an immediate danger. I would wager that the argument BM and SM had on Friday night (allegedly) had more to do with SM’s activities at those meetings and her becoming more assertive about what she wanted/needed. JMO

I don't follow. The talk about SM going to Al-Anon was related to her father. BLM does not drink. How are the two related?

I am still wondering why BM was arrested at the side of the road ... with what looks like 7 law enforcement vehicles behind him.

SBM
My understanding is that cops like to do for a few reasons. It may be unexpected, it is deemed safer than making an arrest at a home, and it puts the cops in a position of greater power. If they have a warrant they don't even need to conjure up some driving offense in order to make the stop. IMO

I imagine "scared" could be proved by the text convo Suzanne had with her sister - a convo which LE was able to recover.
Same goes for logic behind her perhaps being scared.

And the timing of that text convo would also be important.

If Suzanne particpated in DV meetings due to being scared (and abused) perhaps the meetings could also be introduced, due to the link with being scared the day prior to her disappearance.

Interesting. If SM simply told her sister that she was scared then her sister repeating it would be hearsay. Perhaps a text is somehow weightier? I wonder if there was a recovered text message and it was very specific such as "I'm scared that [Fill in the blank] is going to kill me with a rifle tonight" whether that would jump the hearsay hurdle. My first thought is that there is no proof who sent it, so it wouldn't pass muster. IMO IANAL

I think it would/will be used to form part of the entire picture that the prosecution will form.
Many parts that form an entire picture.

For example, we have a case here that has just been heard (verdict pending) where a boyfriend beat his girlfriend (Carly McBride) to death after she visited her ex's house to see her daughter.
The boyfriend 'searched' for his missing girlfriend, went on social media asking for help, acted distraught about Carly's disappearance, appeared to be helping search for Carly.
BUT he also sent text messages to others right after Carly disappeared, soliciting sex from them.

These text messages were used to show his public facade as opposed to his private actions, following Carly's disappearance. They formed part of the picture.

If you're saying there is no proof that SM sent the message, I don't understand why someone else would use her phone to send a text to MM which might be very incriminating to BM. MM said the text was very long. LE would know exactly where she was when she sent it. Who would be in her house using her phone to compose a text like that?

Good question. The only answer I can think of is that the support group helped her cope with her family history and perhaps whatever she was struggling with in her current family. Raising teens is tough. Marriage is tough. Middle age is not easy either. Lots could be going on that the support group helped with.

I'm saying that to be used as evidence in court I think it would have to be proved that SM sent the text. An alternate theory might be that the real killer/kidnapper/whatever sent the text in order to frame someone.

To be clear, I'm not alleging anything or even saying I believe any of this, I'm just saying that I'm not sure a text message can hold up as evidence. Its more like hearsay. IMO

Barry Morphew may not drink (or he might because we KNOW he’s a habitual liar), nevertheless, he appears to be drunk on his own self importance and righteousness. I think Suzanne learned that addiction and abuse have many faces. JMHO :)

Well I don't think so. So I'll just leave it there. It's too bizarre for me to imagine that there was someone else using her phone who would incriminate Barry (If that's what it does), and also know all the personal details and references between sisters that would necessarily be in a very long text.

The specific text (sent Friday morning before MD) to MM from SM was recovered by LE according to MM. MOO this text is important bc MM said she knew right away BM was responsible for SM missing. FBI Forensic Labs will be able to determine which device the message was sent from, what time, etc. It’s very unlikely BM or anyone else was around Friday morning when SM sent the lengthy text. Girls were out of town “camping.” Like I said, this is my own opinion.
EBM typo

And the good news NuttMegg, is most would probably feel as you do. It' not beyond any doubt it's beyond any reasonable doubt.

Did we ever learn more about Barry's "Foundation"? IIRC that's what MM called it, and there was an uncharacteristic truncating of that statement by her.
No, not that I have found. Did she maybe mean to refer to SM’s Foundation? Someone (BM?) has placed BM and his friends in charge of SM’s foundation iirc.

I could have sworn that she specifically said "Barry's Foundation" and then she just cut it off. But I don't want to go back for 2 hours to listen again. I just got the idea she was definitely saying it was not the same as whatever foundation or group that SM had going. Maybe I drank too much Budweiser that night. I was going to say Corona :(
