Because Suzanne was still alive and he hadn't put the Broomfield alibi together yet?
But when BM went into Salida just two hours later (and before SM’s last proof of life, before she went digitally silent), he asked JP to do the job in Broomfield. And he’d made the company he was subcontracted to in Indiana aware of his Broomfield plans on Thurs, May 7 (according to one of their employees).

There had to be a particular reason he didn’t want MG to know about the Broomfield job until the very last minute.

  • #322
Who’s home is this? LS says LE say “she” is unavailable and MG had moved to another state. It doesn’t look like BM’s condo.
Unless I’m confused. ( it’s been known to happen).
I believe it’s the home of a female we can not discuss per TOS. MOO

Grusing testifies that #BarryMorphew sought information about purchasing a backhoe attachment and a new blade for his Bobcat on May 9, the day before Suzanne disappeared.

@Seattle1 - I am remembering this appointment as well - maybe for 1pm or 2pm?
ETA: At 1:55 p.m. door opens at DSI and there is surveillance video as well. At 2 p.m. BM was getting his blade replaced on his bobcat on Saturday, May 9.
I believe this to be from Lauren as I used most of her tweets in the timeline @OldCop and I are refining.

Well, since her signature wasn't on it and the person at the Clerk's office noticed right away that it was a ballot for missing person Suzanne Morphew, and Barry's was the only signature - and then he admitted to two FBI agents that he voted for her and basically added that he knew it was cheating but that all the other guys were doing it, so he thought he'd do it too...I'd pretty much say he blew any chance at all of using that as proof of life (not to mention he went to court to get a guardianship over her property).
I wonder if he was watching her with a scope.
if he parked the truck backwards (with the front facing away from the house) at at some distance (95 feet +)...as others have suggested....its purpose is two-fold: First, to avoid immediate detection that he was home (he wanted to find her and what she was doing before she know he was home)..and he has done this before with the BFF at the house one time if I recall correctly..and Secondly, to accomodate the backing out of the RR or ATV if it was garaged. I think sneaking up on Suzanne was a long-standing habit of his, and it likely unnerved and angered her greatly.

  • #325
What about the noise that was allegedly heard at the dig site that weekend, where would that factor in? And it hasn't been mentioned (yet) in prelim - it was either 8th or 9th May

Sorry its bugging me and prob absolutely bugger all to do with Barry.

There's a photo of Suzanne and her daughters with kitchen/Island in background, seemed to be a celebration of some sort iirc think there's a balloon, but there is a big bunch of flowers in pic also, want to say red roses? But am not 100% sure on that

I think I remember that pic in the 50 year birthday memorial video that her friend made.

Do people skin and eat chipmunks, raccoons and squirrels? Do they shoot them with tranquilizers? I honestly have never heard of that. Seriously asking.
I know of people hunting for large game for food but not these small rodents/mammals?
I don't think Barry indicated that he was shooting chipmunks with darts...but that he was shooting them. It just so happens that tranquilizer darts can be fired from standard rifles which are compatible.

Does anyone know when the meeting between Jeff Puckett and Barry happened? Is it included in any timeline we have to date. I admit I had a doctor's appointment and missed some of the hearing but I've not heard anything about this meeting.
and why wouldn't Barry have mentioned to Jeff Puckett on Saturday that he needed him on Sunday, if that were the case?

If he was, as we now have clarified, arriving home with the trailered Bobcat, he would likely park in such a way that the trailer is positioned wherever he wants it (probably in the location seen on the aerial news video early in the case, in the turnaround loop closer to the creek).

Unhooking the trailer is presumably not registered by the truck's computer so we can't know when that happened, but based on how immediately he was reported to be sneaking around the house etc, he didn't unhook upon arrival.

Later, the 95-foot backing up may have been (I speculate) after unhooking the trailer -- then positioning the truck in whatever location -- either up toward the house or patio if it was used to move a drugged or dead SM, or out of the way if the truck was not used in her disposal and simply awaited the Broomfield drive.

Sorry its bugging me and prob absolutely bugger all to do with Barry.
I pulled the timeline @OldCop and I did in the beginning - we can fill in some of the blanks now

Friday 5/8/20

Evening, exact time unknown:
-BM works at “beach area” at Salida dig site (MG)
After hearing:
At 4:44 p.m., BM’s truck door opened and closed. At 5:25 p.m., the gear shift went from park to reverse and moved backward in the driveway 95 feet.

At 10:17 p.m. on May 9, BM's phone was taken off airplane mode and it was home.

Saturday 5/9/20

A.M.:
-BM & MG at Salida dig site. MG states BM was acting unusual. MG is supposed to rake out beach area that BM had worked on the night before. (MG). BM picked up MG (unverified) to bring her there.

11:00 a.m.:
-BM tells MG to go home. He tells her he has to go home to make wife “happy” and take her hiking or biking. (Did BM drop off MG?)

12:30 p.m. : (conflicting information, time not verified, could be later in the day, or even earlier)
-SM is talking with BFF on a message app or FB when suddenly she stops replying.

4:00 p.m.: New Info
-SM & BM are seen in a sandwich shop in Salida
After hearing: No mention of this and she was likely incapacitated or deceased by 4pm

Afternoon, exact time unknown:
-BM makes contact with JP and hires him for a Broomfield job on Sunday. According to JP, this was an in person meeting in Salida. Was this before or after SM and BM were in the sandwich shop?
-MG states that BM was seen shopping around town. (Unverified)

Evening, exact time unknown:
-SM’s bff receives texts that seem “unusual” from SM
-Friends of BM see SM appear in “Friend Suggestions” and “People You May Know” on their FB pages.
-New Info: Friends of AM receive friend requests from SM

11:30 p.m.:
-A neighbor of a home being built in Salida hears heavy machinery running for about a half hour. BM has been hired to do prep work for a foundation pour at this site. This is the same site where he is also prepping the “beach area”.

After hearing: We know his phone was taken off airplane mode at 10:17pm and it was home.

===========
I didn't want to lose all this original work and will try to match up what was testified to at the hearing.

ITA, and I think MG will be important going forward in the trial. She can testify to Barry's actions on Saturday and his early morning call and drive by on Sunday.

There's a reason ole' BM didn't want her turning her phone over to LE.

MOO
Yup, and she can also testify to the 'hush-hush' money TN and GI George gave her for the Broomfield job. She had 5 interviews with LE from what I remember. I think she knows a lot.

He did, according to his interview with LS. Jeff worked at DSI. Sunday was his 1st time to work for BM.

An abusive, stalking, self centered narcissist who believes that he is the victim while the actual victim is being portrayed in a negative light by the defense at every opportunity. This case is beginning to have many parallels to the OJ Simpson case. I just hope that it does not end like the Simpson case.

But none of those state that Barry had booked an appointment in advance for this blade repair/replaced as the OP stated. That's the part I hadn't heard before now.

IMO, gps location data either from a phone or vehicle or both place BM at that site Saturday night. That seems to be the logical conclusion of why the FBI dug that site up.

I think there is a lot more data related to BM’s movements post 2:47pm May 9th still to come. He thought he was in the clear with airplane mode but nope.

I posted this thought in response to @OldCop right before the last thread closed. I haven’t seen it discussed yet so I am bringing it forward for consideration.

If SM was tranquilized, something happened in the moments or minutes immediately after. Her phone was probably within arms reach. I believe the scenario I outline below is, though perhaps not probable, certainly possible, and worth thinking about.

=========

Well, if she was sending selfie’s her phone was probably in hand. Assuming he really did shoot her with a dart, IMO she would have had plenty of time to react before becoming incapacitated. It doesn’t take long to do five clicks (there’s that five again!) on an iPhone to trigger a 911 call. So he would have had to immediately restrain her to prevent something like that. But regardless, I imagine she would have run, or at least tried to run, or maybe just surrendered with a “Why…why…why…”

Holy-moly… As I type this, I realize I have to ask myself, could there be an aborted 911 call from SM’s phone that marks the day and time she was attacked? If the call went through and was abandoned, no doubt LE and an EMT would have been dispatched automatically to follow up. And that didn’t happen.

BUT what if the call was canceled before the connection was fully made? Or what if the keys were pressed but she wasn’t able to swipe right to place the call? Or he wrestled the phone away from her before the countdown ended and it auto-called? What if those key presses were logged in the cloud? (I would think they would be.) It’s not impossible given what we think we know now and the implications are staggering IMO.

The “five-button emergency press” is configured by default on iPhone 7 and earlier, it’s configurable as an alternative to the new “double-button press” default on iPhone 8 and later. Read more here…

Use Emergency SOS on your iPhone
Suzanne may have been surprised and shocked by the dart's impact (not knowing what it was)...especially if it was in the back. I doubt she would have immediately called 9-1-1...She would have reacted to identify what happened...was it a snake bite, a bee sting, what was it? That gave Barry a window to snatch the cell phone...she may even have dropped it in the moments after the dart's impact. I doubt she saw it coming, jmo. I wouldn't be surprised that she ultimately knew that Barry was killing her..I just doubt it was at that moment...likely later, before she went to sleep or shortly after waking up...jmo.

I found this one where she seems to be wearing one. I don't have one but anyone that I know that has one wears it constantly so maybe this is something else.
My husband also found that pic and believes it's an apple watch, but the pic I'm referring to showed her wearing it with a white band rather than the black band in this pic. And the pic I'm looking for shows the watch clearly, no guessing needed. It was almost the focal point of the pic. Many of us recall the pic clearly, but it is no longer online. Another poster suggested that LE may have had that pic scrubbed from the internet for some reason, which I have actually seen more than once on cases here. I'm wondering if it has been removed so it doesn't remind someone that she had this extremely info-filled piece of technology. I am extremely curious to see if the watch was located by LE. Jmo

After going over my timeline here are some random thoughts and questions:

- I'm getting the feeling there is another person is involved. We have missing money. By Barry saying it's missing that is his excuse for the missing $$$. He can steer his responsibility of the money to Suzanne OR he can say someone broke into the house, stole the money and took Suzanne. OR what if that money was used to pay someone to either A. Murder his Wife or B. Get rid of the body of his murdered wife? The lack of a body and the fact that investigators didn't find much in the house or on the property leads me to believe that Suzanne was taken far away from the house. Suzphone last pinged from 4:10am-4:22am far from the Morphew home. With Barry's phone pinging near where the bike was found AND him returning home @ 4:31am he can't be at two places at the same time. This is a problem!

On the 9th
- 2:47pm Barry turns his phone off.
- 4:44pm Truck door opens and closes.
- The next bit of info we get is that the truck computer was reset a 5:53pm. What happened in the 2 hrs between 2:47 and 4:44pm( Is this the time of the murder?)
- We also have the hour and 9 mins from 4:44-5:53pm. What happened then?

- The sheets in the daughter's room. What if the murder didn't happen at 2:47pm? What if they had an argument about the texts to Libler and that was all? Say they talked for awhile and then went to bed and instead of sleeping in the same bedroom, Suzanne went to sleep in the daughter's room. Could Barry or someone else gone in there and murdered her? Then she is wrapped up in those bed sheets and taken away or Barry takes the sheets and disposes of them on one of his garbage runs? Just another scenario.

- Barry's truck moves to the end of the driveway on the night of the 9th. From 9:24 to 9:56 it would appear from the truck data that Barry was in the truck for 32 minutes. What was he doing in there? Is Barry waiting in the car while someone else goes into the house to kill and/or remove Suzanne?

-3:58am- Barry's phone goes to the area where Suzanne's bike is found.
-4:31am- Barry's phone is back at the home.
He's got a lot of explaining to do here!!

- I have a feeling that there is an explanation for the tranquilizer gun and dart. Why would Barry admit to throwing it away if it had anything to do with the murder? That's not smart AT ALL. That puts a possible smoking gun in his hand. After being careful with everything else, why be so careless with something that can and will be used against him. It doesn't make sense. Don't be surprised if this turns out to be nothing.

- We need more truck info. For instance the cell phone pings that have Barry moving around to the bike area and back home, does the truck data indicate that the truck doors opened and closed at those locations???!!! THIS IS IMPORTANT AS IT'S ANOTHER INDICATOR THAT HE WAS THERE. That info is missing and needs to be accounted for. I find this sloppy work by the DA. They make a big deal about truck data yet when it is really needed to corroborate phone data they don't bring it up!
the dart cap in the dryer makes the dart gun relevant.
