Coronavirus COVID-19 *Global Health Pandemic* #21

Good morning! Today is my daughter's last day of school until March 23rd. I'm hoping PEI closes schools for a bit longer, as Ontario has done. We haven't confirmed any cases yet, but with 2 testing clinics being opened in the past few days and now a federal government worker being tested (and very likely positive) and their colleagues working from home now, I guess it's only a matter of time. We've pretty much decided at this point to cancel our trip to Newfoundland...it's something we look forward to every year with our whole family living there, but our parents/grandparents are in the age bracket where things could be serious, and I don't want to be responsible for possibly making them sick. I hope you guys are all hanging in there. I can't turn my brain off.

Hi I’m Scottish. I feel the same way you do. I’m more worried about my parents than myself as they are both high risk. The press conference yesterday brought home the gravity of the situation. Everyone I know is taking the crisis seriously now.

I really hope you and your Dad will be ok.

Thank you so much @gregjrichards and I hope that you and your parents will stay safe and healthy ❤️
Like you with your parents, I am far more concerned at the thought of my Dad becoming infected - or worse, by me getting infected without realising and inadvertently infecting him. I think right now he is safer in Cornwall, where there is currently only one case. He is 84 next month and already has the tickets to come stay with me for his birthday. As of this morning, it’s looking unlikely he’ll come to London. Too many people (who still aren’t taking any precautions because they’re young and healthy and therefore don’t think it’ll affect them. Grr.), too many crowded stations to traverse. We agreed last night to review in a fortnight. In the meantime, I know he’s getting concerned because when I offered to pop a couple of face masks in the post to him, he jumped at the chance.
In other news, I am now the proud owner of a 24-pack of Cushelle loo roll. The Gods of Sainsbury’s we’re looking down upon me as I went shopping very early this morning.
Stay safe, everyone!

I stand by my post and am well aware of the strengths and weaknesses that exist in the American banking system.

The government can only prop up the economy to a certain point, then it collapses.

Agree! Fiat currency is based on faith of government. Without the gold standard, there’s no “place marker” in the standings of the world market.

If one is tested, they will need three clean tests after their symptoms disappear before they are safe from shedding, per Dr. on CNN town hall.
So, if John Doe has recovered and fails to go for three follow up tests and is seen all over town, then what?

Is it just me? Or do all of these “new” findings sound like old news?

It sure seems like every finding that was published by the Chinese scientists was completely disregarded and we just had to find out for ourselves!! WTH??

Maybe news to most of the world, but seems like old news on WS!

It appears that even entire countries have to learn from their OWN mistakes.

Thank you so much for that. Just thank you. It’s the light we need right now.

We will need lots of light here. Let’s keep that flight flowing. No matter what.

WellStar to begin screenings at facility entrances
WellStar, which operates numerous hospitals and care centers in the Atlanta area, says it will begin screening visitors for coronavirus symptoms.

"Visitors should expect to have their temperature taken, have any potential symptoms reviewed, and will be asked about their travel history. Visitors who do not pass the screening will be requested to refrain from visiting patients until they have been self-quarantined for 14 days or all symptoms have been resolved. No visitors will be allowed for people who have tested positive for COVID-19 or who have recently traveled from regions with widespread community spread of the disease. This process is temporary and is designed to limit the spread of COVID-19 in our communities."

The network has also assembled a team of infectious disease and infection prevention specialists who will "communicate daily to stay up to date on the latest developments and prepare for patient care."

"Act like your infected, not avoiding infection. Wash your hands like you don’t want to transmit it. Think about your contacts - do you want to infect them? Our fight, our responsibility #Covid_19"
Graham Medley on Twitter

I love this. “Act like you’re infected”.

Thank you Henry for all your tweets and everyone for the updates.
