GUILTY CT - Jennifer Dulos, 50, deceased/not found, New Canaan, 24 May 2019 *ARRESTS* #69

I was surprised by the 48 Hours episode. I was fearing it would be a MT and clan soirée. But it was IMO good and balanced. And it did not largely come off as sympathetic or apologetic to her side of it. It was a good summary. And yes SMcG and MM closings were great. The one juror was only an alternate. But he said he concurred with the findings of guilt for conspiracy and on all 6 counts. And the one individual that did most speaking for MT and the family…….. well will leave it at that. Best to just put it on mute. MOO

Thanks for this. Your take was much better than mine. I tuned in about 10-15 mins behind. Didn't realize the juror was an alternate.
Also should have mentioned MM. I was struck by SM very last sentence when he pointed to MT. Somehow I missed that. It was powerful.

Guess I'm tired of hearing the recap of FD.

I listened to the podcast …. What I heard was team MT saying a lot of things that MT didn’t do … but not denying the things she DID do.

She was not on trial for “hurting” (she would never ..!) … she was on trial for conspiring, hindering, tampering . Guilty. Guilty. Guilty.

Team MT was NOT saying she wasn’t involved in the plan or alibi, or cover up - they didn’t say she didn’t conspire. IMO The family knows she is guilty, they are just earning their prime-time bucks to fund the go-for-broke appeal.

We have this to look forward to this week...

3/21/24 Update: Arraignment hearing on contempt charges. Assistant State's Attorney Elizabeth Moran has provided discovery to Troconis' attorney-specifically the sealed report in question. Assistant State's Attorney Elizabeth Moran & defense attorney Robert Frost told Judge Alex Hernandez they would meet prior to the next court date to see whether they could negotiate a resolution to the matter prior to Troconis' sentencing. The hearing date is 5/15/24. The judge noted that if Troconis were convicted of contempt, she no longer would get credit toward her eventual sentence for the charges she was convicted of at trial. "Maybe a short date would be appropriate," Hernandez said prior to raising her bail a nominal $100 at Frost's request. No plea was entered.

From the article above about the 48 hrs episode. There should not be a paywall as I gifted it.

Since this juror was an alternate he was not in the deliberations.

“The alternate juror, Patrick, told “48 Hours” that closing arguments were where it “all came together” for him. He asked “48 Hours” to only use his first name.
“That’s when it all made sense to me,” he said. “And really up to that point, I had entertained both sides in my head.”
In Patrick’s mind, he said he debated whether there was an innocent explanation”

Also a quote from Jennifer’s dear friend
“Luft said how Jennifer Dulos is in each of her five children and how her face could be seen in her mother, Gloria Farber.
“So, you know, Jennifer’s still here in so many ways,” she said. “But I think it would bring some peace to be able to let her rest in peace.”

Marissa is in court.

@MarissaAlter

Judge Kevin Randolph says the argument for acquittal is the same as at trial on whether there was sufficient evidence to go to the jury. He ruled then that there was.

Randolph denies the motion for acquittal based on that, but he says he will not make a ruling on whether the evidence met a sufficient standard. That’s up to an appellate court.
@News12CT

Randolph says there can be more than one conspiracy in a case. HOWEVER, he does believe the defense has a “colorful claim” regarding two conspiracy to commit evidence tampering charges and double jeopardy. Randolph says he will reserve judgement on that for sentencing.

That means there is a possibility one of the convictions could be vacated then.

From the article - basically what we already know from Marissa :

“Prior to making his decision about the motion for a new trial, Randolph said there was no way to order a new trial without setting aside the guilty verdict. The court has the ability to do so if he were to find that the verdict was reached “out of passion or prejudice,” but Randolph said he could find evidence of neither in this case.
The verdicts, Randolph said, “were not against the law or the weight of evidence.”

Further:
“Randolph said he would reveal his ruling on whether to vacate one of the conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence charges during his opening statements at Troconis’ sentencing, scheduled for May 31.”

MT: your actions have consequences.
MT’s family: you should have convinced her to share the truth instead of pretending she was innocent which helped no one. The truth would have set her free.

Had she been honest in the beginning….she wouldn’t be sitting in jail awaiting her sentencing leaving her daughter to grow up shouldering all of the fallout from her mother’s appalling choices.

Such a shame.

Justice for Jennifer.

MT’s family is complicit in both the crime of murder, and of being partly responsible for MT’s current position. Her parents raised her to be an amoral and selfish pleasure seeker. Her family supported her in her poor decision making-they should look to themselves, in their search for the ones who are responsible.

Adding that in my opinion her family tried to convince her because she didn’t kill Jennifer, she was innocent.

Don't be so quick to judge. I say entirely facetiously.

If Inmate #433612 was so taken in my the wrong man at the wrong time, why is she still lying for him? Pffft.

Maybe they keep Inmate #433612's over-the-bed nudetrait over their fireplace.

You know, for when they have social fires.

Or dumpster fires.

Troconis remains in custody at York Correctional Institution on a $6 million bond, which her family can’t post right now.

“The costs going forward are substantial. This family, although of some means, is not wealthy. Therefore, the costs of both continuing with this matter as well coming up with the money for bond is very extreme,” Schoenhorn told reporters. “They are going to be seeking to raise money from people—friends, family and anybody else who wants to contribute, who believes that at least a new trial is in order, and Michelle should be out and awaiting the results of that in the community rather than being locked up.”

Troconis’ bond release conditions include that she would have to remain in Connecticut, where she wasn’t living prior to her trial. Schoenhorn called that “punitive” and said he intends to address that once she’s able to bond out. Schoenhorn said Troconis is doing OK under the circumstances.

“For somebody who's never in her life prior to this even had a parking ticket or a speeding ticket, let alone being accused of serious felonies, you can imagine how hard it is for her,” Schoenhorn stated.
Troconis is facing a maximum of 50 years in prison if the judge doesn’t vacate one of the counts of conspiracy to commit evidence tampering. If he does, Troconis faces a maximum sentence of 45 years.

She also has a pending contempt of court charge. Troconis is accused of displaying a court-sealed document from the Dulos divorce case on her laptop during her trial. She returns to court in that case on May 15.

How hard it is for her?

I happen to think the zipties were hard for Jennifer.

No, I don't think Inmate #433612 should be loose in society or against the side of any vehicles while she awaits a new trial.

But then, I don't see her getting a new trial. Granted the defense was a drone bean footage, the judge was very careful, very transparent and IMO protected the trial from appeal.

She can stay where she is.

It suits her.

Re: punitive to require her to remain in CT…has Schoenhorn forgotten all of MT’s many deep community ties to CT?? And as far as no speeding or parking tickets…first of all, he doesn’t know that, and second of all, she didn’t even own a car, so those wouldn’t likely be the “crimes” of choice for her. And none of that has anything to do with conspiracy to commit murder.

She knew 2 years prior to the murder that fD didn’t have any money, or any way to make money-she lived in that house with him, so she knew that his “award winning builder” days were over long before Jennifer was killed. She knew that he had hoodwinked her, and could have ditched him, but she didn’t. She was fully invested in anything he had in mind, or she would have left him long before the murder.
