There have been many people on this thread in the last 4 years who’ve said the same thing. I’ve never been involved in anything that required intervention from the CT court system-either civil or criminal, so I’ll need to take your word for it, but I believe you. I just wonder if it’s the same in all states. I do think that the CT court system was complicit in this tragedy and the aftermath.
I have done business in a lot of the states. I don't think the CT legal system has a "corner" on corruption. Politics, Money and Influence all as old as time. From what I have seen and heard about in general corruption is up everywhere. More commonplace. One hand washes the other, kick backs etc. Look at the news about the supreme court for instance. People say things were always this way but I think its more wide spread everywhere and more mainstream than ever. People have no shame. It seems ethics and integrity IMO are not in fashion by a large chunk of the population. Why the judge let things get so clearly out of hand with JFD's divorce case? Anyone's guess. But so misguided and tragic. Just my opinion

People think I am exaggerating when I make comments about the corruption in Connecticut. I most definitely am not.
I agree--no exaggeration.

4/20/23 Update: Judge Kevin Randolph said during a hearing Thursday he would issue a written ruling in the next 10 days about whether the courtroom will be closed for the evidentiary hearing to determine if a letter written by the attorney representing Troconis in the Jennifer Dulos case is confidential under attorney-client privilege. Despite the agreement between the two sides, Randolph said he would not make a decision from the bench on Thursday, 4/27/23. “Even though there is agreement as to closing the courtroom, this court is still bound to determine if that closure outweighs any public interest in the case,” Randolph said.
4/26/23 Update: Judge J. Randolph has agreed to close the courtroom when discussing potential evidence submitted by the attorney for Troconis according to a ruling issued Wednesday. In his four-page ruling, Judge Randolph concluded that the public should be prohibited from attending the "Privilege Waiver" hearing in case the items are used in Troconis' defense. "A defense for all to see is in danger of becoming no defense at all," Randolph said.” 4/27/23 Update: Next pretrial hearing on 5/12/23 for all cases.
*Kent D. Mawhinney (54/now 57) – Murder: Judge John F. Blawie put the case on the trial docket. Hearing on 5/15/22.
2/23/22: Plead guilty to a charge of violating a protective order that stemmed from an incident involving his ex-wife. Sentenced for violation & assault on 6/17/22 was given a 5 year suspended prison sentence & 3 years of probation on a domestic violence charge.
*Fotis Dulos (52) – Committed suicide on 1/28/20 & declared dead at 5:32pm on 1/30/20. 3/3/20: Charges dismissed. The case against Dulos will be officially dismissed in about a year, unless the state decides to reopen it. 1/17/22: After debt, no money left in Dulos estate for children. While Fotis Dulos’ estate has $395,687 in assets, it owes $548,280.75 in expenses, according to Farmington Probate Court records. Attorney Christopher Hug will be paid $189,525 for settling the estate & attorney Paul Knierim, who represented Hug, will receive $98,326, court documents show."

@sds71 - any updates on what happened in court yesterday? And maybe a next hearing date?

I strongly believe that a great effort to bring more awareness to this case should begin. It will force their hand, and the strategy here was to try to let the case slip slowly off of the radar like this. That’s just not fair or right, and I strongly believe bringing more awareness to this case will fix the delay right up. It does not look good for the political people involved if we spread more awareness on the facts and numbers surrounding the delays. These people are making it seem like getting the family some kind of closure is not a priority. It’s just not right that they are spreading the message through actions that you can continue to live your life normally for a long time when there is evidence that could convict you of crimes of serious moral turpitude in CT. It’s just not right.

She has been compliant, and the judge really had no choice to take the monitor off in order to be seen as impartial. This is too long of a delay, and the judge did make the judicially correct decision here to stay impartial. It’s possibly one of the longest delays ever, maybe unprecedented? It’s 4 years now, no trial.

I think it is possible the hearing was continued as the only communication about MT on May 12 seems to be coming directly from MT and not MSM.

Just an FYI -- don't know if you search for MSM by name but you have MT's name spelled incorrectly in your summary. It's Troconis (not Tronconis). ;)

Going to Mass, and will never come back. I don't understand what is happening. Will these two ever pay? This is such BS

From the article
"Mawhinney's case was moved back to the trial list after Monday’s hearing" - Why does a case get taken off a trial list for a hearing about house arrest ? Seems ridiculous IMO - would love to know when they are going to get around to "getting real" with both KW and Michelle. IMO

STAMFORD, CONN. (WTNH) — A judge lifted the house arrest on Monday for one of the two people charged with conspiracy in the death of missing New Canaan mother Jennifer Dulos.

[..]

According to his attorney, Mawhinney will now be able to travel throughout Connecticut but will have to wear an ankle bracelet to monitor his whereabouts.

No trial date has been set for Mawhinney.

Dulos’ former girlfriend Michelle Troconis is also charged in the case and is awaiting trial.
