Benjamin Washington Jr. – “left out in the cold”
According to Prince George’s County Police, officers found Washington at about one o’clock in the morning in the 5300 block of Woodacres Drive in Suitland, Maryland.
He had been shot several times. His sister says he was hit in the head, the chest, and other parts of his body.
Detective Sgt. Robert Simpson says investigators believe that Washington was not killed at the location where he was found.
He says that there was no evidence at the scene that matched the injuries to the victim, and no one in the neighborhood reported hearing gunshots or any disturbance before his body was found.
In fact, Detective Simpson says, witnesses say that Washington was seen in the District, that night, near 47th Street and Sheriff Road, Northeast.
And, police say, a witness heard “what sounded like three gunshots” in that area about 11 P.M. or Midnight, an hour or two before Washington’s body was found in Maryland.
Investigators say that Washington’s friends have been uncooperative and that they cannot be sure of the exact location of his murder or what the motive might have been.
Renee Green, Washington’s sister, says, “Whatever my brother was involved in, whether it was drug related or not, this is inhuman and heartless…”
She says it was a “very violent, hateful, and ambush” killing.
