Gold Alert issued for Missing Newark Juvenile - Newark - Delaware State Police - State of Delaware

Newark – Delaware State Police Troop 2 is issuing a Gold Alert for 17-year-old Madison Sparrow who was reported missing on October 2, 2020.

Sparrow was last seen on October 2, 2020 at approximately 3:40 p.m. in the area of Farm Lane in Newark, De.

Sparrow is described as a white female, approximately 5’4″, 105 lbs., with long brown hair and wearing glasses. She was last seen wearing black tights with denim shorts, gray boots, blue hoodie that says “New Jersey” on it. Sparrow was also wearing white ghost earrings.

Attempts to locate or communicate with Sparrow have been unsuccessful and there is concern for her welfare.

Anyone with information regarding Sparrow’s whereabouts is asked to contact Delaware State Police Troop 2 by calling 302-834-2620 or by calling 911. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware crime stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or via the internet at Delaware Crime Stoppers

Sparrow’s father, R. P., said

• she was going out with a friend to get ice cream and buy a birthday present for her sister
• conflicting information from Sparrow’s friends
• believes the friend she was with dropped her off along the side of Library Avenue near Farm Lane, where she got into a white truck with three men
• “really weird” text messages implying she was trying to run away
• then her phone was turned off
• left her credit card and most of her money at home

There does seem to be a lot we don’t know here IMO but I don’t understand why they wouldn’t issue an amber alert. Hopefully the pieces we are missing answers that or we see one, or better yet, find her very soon.

Police ask for help finding Newark teen missing since Friday
A 17-year-old girl from Newark has been missing since Friday and police are concerned about her well-being.

State police are asking for help finding Madison Sparrow, who was last seen Friday at 3:40 p.m. near Farm Lane in Newark, police said.

Police issued a gold alert for Sparrow Saturday night. Gold alerts are typically issued when police receive notice a senior citizen, a suicidal person or a person with a disability is missing.

Sparrow is white, about 5 feet 4 inches tall, wears glasses and has long brown hair, police said. She was last seen wearing black tights with denim shorts, gray boots, a blue hoodie that says "New Jersey" on it and white ghost earrings.

Police ask anyone with information regarding Sparrow's whereabouts to contact Delaware State Police Troop 2 at (302) 834-2620. Information can also be provided to Delaware Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333 or delaware.crimestoppersweb.com.

Unfortunately the article doesn't give a follow-up regarding what if anything was located during the search. It does go on to give detail about a FB note from Maddie's mom that was posted by one of Maddie's former teachers. It also defines the criteria for a Gold Alert in DE.

This is awful. I go to school with her. One of the "friends" that dropped her off was someone I knew. Super sketchy and upsetting.

not to double post, but they haven't issued an amber alert because there's no license plate and description of who took her. The friend involved keeps changing the story.

Delaware State Police Seeking Public's Help Locating Missing 17-Year-Old Madison Sparrow

Nothing new but I know they're trying to spread the word. The fact that nothing seemed out of the ordinary before and now she's missing without taking her checkcard is not a good sign IMO. Also alarming is the fact her phone was shut off after sending a strange text message that didn't sound like her. It's beyond frustrating her friend's story has been inconsistent with the latest being she believes a strange man in a white truck is involved.

Madison is a friend of a friend of my family. Someone out there might have information that could help. Please get the word out. Thank you.

Madison Sparrow, a 17-year-old Newark girl who was reported missing Friday afternoon, has been found deceased, police said.

"At this time, this case remains active and ongoing. Additional information will be released once it becomes available," Delaware State Police spokeswoman Cpl. Heather Pepper said just after 3 p.m. Monday.
