Danish police have cut off the eastern island of Zeland, home to the capital, Copenhagen, from the rest of the country as well as from neighbouring Germany and Sweden due to “a major police operation”.

Bridges from Zeland to the central island of Funen and to Sweden have been shut, as have ferry crossings to Germany and Sweden. Shutting these major crossings has caused major traffic jams near the bridges to Sweden and to the mainland.

Sweden’s Aftonbladet paper, citing an unnamed police source, said a Swedish-registered car was being sought in connection with a kidnapping.

Danish bridges closed due to 'major police operation'

The Copenhagen Police calls for a Swedish registered Volvo V90 with registration number ZBP 546.

According to the police, there are probably three people in the vehicle, which are associated with serious crime. "

If you see the vehicle, you should contact the police immediately by phone 112.

The police emphasize that one should not try to contact the people themselves. Simply observe it and report what you see to the police.

"Police said they were still looking for the Swedish-registered rental car.

"The vehicle probably contains three persons linked to serious crime," the police said in a statement.

Although all transport links are now open it is not clear whether the Volvo was tracked down."

"'Never experienced this sort of operation'

"I was in the Danish police for 41 years and I have never experienced this sort of operation," former head of Danish intelligence Hans Jorgen Bonnichsen reportedly told Berlingske.

Officers 'with machine guns'

A photographer has told Danish newspaper Berlingske that police have a huge presence on the Holbaek motorway near the capital Copenhagen.

"I have just seen two officers with machine guns stop a car," he said.

The armed forces are also taking part in the operation, according to Danish news agency Ritzau."

The Latest: Danish police find car in nationwide manhunt
"Police in Denmark say they “have found a vehicle that we believe is the right one,” but declined to say what the nationwide manhunt was about or whether anyone has been arrested.

Copenhagen police spokesman Joergen Bergen Skov says Friday that police were “looking for people involved in serious criminality,” but declined to elaborate.

Bridges from Zealand, the island where Copenhagen sits, to the central island of Funen and to neighboring Sweden were closed down for about two hours, and ferry crossings to Germany and to Sweden were also halted. Shutting down these key crossings caused major traffic jams."

Police manhunt shuts connections between Denmark and Sweden

The article has an interesting picture of how the police set up one of the road blocks in this manhunt.

From the article: "By Friday evening, Copenhagen Police said that the vehicle had been found.

"We have found the vehicle that we believe is the right one. As previously stated, it is believed that it was involved in serious criminality," inspector Jørgen Bergen Skov said at a press briefing. "We are at a point where we cannot say more."

Skov was asked if the incident was terror-related but declined to answer. He stressed, however, that the public had no reason to be concerned."

Since the car has apparently been located, wondering if the statements below might give a hint as to what was actually happening?
Cannot help but wonder if it had anything at all to do with the terrorism plan that was thwarted in the Netherlands yesterday? imo, speculation.

Dutch police arrest 7 men suspected of plotting major attack | 98.7FM & AM1340 Fox News WGAU
September 27, 2018
"THE HAGUE, Netherlands - Seven men were arrested Thursday in the Netherlands on suspicion of plotting a large-scale extremist attack that Dutch prosecutors said they think was foiled following a months-long investigation.

The national prosecutor's office said in a statement that heavily armed police arrested the men in the towns of Arnhem, about 100 kilometers (62 miles) south of Amsterdam, and Weert in the southern Netherlands close to the borders of Germany and Belgium.

There was a police press conference earlier, but apart from confirming the car has been found there's not much information. Summary:
_______________

  • Chief Police Inspector Jørgen Bergen Skov announced on Saturday that police action was taken because PET had "credible information" about an unpublished threat to specific persons. The people in the wanted car left off the police but later found nothing to do with the threat.
  • Jørgen Bergen Forest acknowledges that the investigation shows that there were two different tracks. But the police initially decided to run the special 'manhunt' system in position because the wanted people could be a danger.
  • The police will not report to the public what the threat is about.
  • Dog patrol has been searching for more properties and weather discounts in the Funen village of Espe for several hours. The police have not reported what the officers are looking for and why they are so presently present.
  • All controls and restrictions on traffic and ferry service have been canceled at. 20, and traffic slides again without queue, the Road Directorate announces at. 12.23.
  • In connection with police action, the police searched for a Swedish registered Volvo V90 on Friday afternoon. Volvo is owned by a Swedish car rental company and was reported by the company on September 24th.
  • At a press conference at 19:00 at the police station in Copenhagen, the police indicate that the car searched has probably been found. Where it is found, the police do not want to disclose.
  • The police also do not want to tell whether arrests have been taken or why they are chasing them.
  • According to the police, three people were in the car. They are associated with 'serious crime' and the police discourage contacting these people if you meet them. They have not yet wanted to announce what the three are suspected of since they are sought.
  • All of the country's police forces participate in the search of the wanted people.
  • No information has been released on the requested ones.
  • If you know anything, you are encouraged to contact the police on phone 114.

The Swedish Volvo didn't have anything to do with the other "major crime". One of the four persons in the stolen Volvo have talked with Danish tv and explained why they fled the police, they don't have any driving licence and had been smoking hasch/marijuana. From Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet - That's why we fled from the police: Volvo-mannen: Därför flydde vi från polisen

The other crime seems to be a threat to kill someone/someones and the black Volvo accidentally turn up near the residence ot that/those people, and when the car didn't stop for the police, .....

Denmark has recalled its ambassador to Iran following an alleged assassination plot foiled in late September that forced the shut down of bridges and ferries to Sweden

Earlier Tuesday, the head of Denmark's intelligence service PET, Finn Borch Andersen, said his agency believed the Iranian intelligence service "was planning an attack in Denmark" against three Iranians suspected of belonging to the Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahvaz.

PET's announcement ended weeks of speculation about why Denmark shut down bridges and ferries to Sweden on September 28 during a manhunt that mobilised hundreds of police and the military.

The shutdown was aimed at foiling the Iranian operation, PET acknowledged on Tuesday.
