Dylan Redwine *Media , Maps & Timelines*

7/2/2013
From the article:
"The fact that his bones were spread. The fact that wildlife got to him. Whoever did this is just a monster,” Elaine Redwine told KUSA on Sunday. “To not do something proper, he deserved so much more than to just have his remains eaten by wildlife."

In response to Elaine’s accusations, Mark Redwine said “I think that we both want the same things. The difference is that I want the truth and she just wants me.”

“For her to focus just on me is an injustice to my son. She wants everybody to believe I hated her, but I’ve never hated anybody in my life,” Mark said. “If there’s any hate it’s in Elaine, not in me.”

MR talks about what items were found by investigators

"Mark Redwine said investigators told him they had found only four or five of his son's bones and that they would continue searching. He said authorities told him his son was ravaged by wildlife.
Investigators also found a piece of the boy's shirt, one sock and his shoestrings but not the backpack or other items he had when he went missing, Redwine said.
"Ninety-eight percent of Dylan is scattered about the countryside," said Redwine, his voice trembling in an interview Thursday night."

Adding this link here. These are the "in general" closure dates for the gates on Middle Mountain Rd (and elsewhere), although on Apr 17, 2012, a hiker was told that the lower gate would open May 1 (not May 31 as indicated on this PDF) so there is some leeway. (From Post 134 above)

Not sure if People magazine is considered MSM. Mods, please delete if not ok.

- While law enforcement searched a nearby mountainside last week, Redwine was in Indianapolis, handing out fliers to truck drivers so they could look for his child on their routes.

- Mark Redwine says he came home from doing errands last Nov. 19 to find that Dylan – who was visiting for the week – was gone. "The TV was on. There was a bowl and a box of cereal out," he recalls. "After a couple of hours, I got concerned."

- "They needed me to identify some items of interest," Redwine says. He drove 1,400 miles back to Colorado in fewer than 30 hours and met with deputies, who handed him a binder full of photos.

I hoped for a more complete report from People Magazine.

ColdHands, that was my thought exactly when I saw this article this morning. :( I also wish they would've done a feature on him, say, 7 months ago? :banghead:

Family looks for justice for Dylan Redwine

In a separate interview with the Durango Herald, Dylan's older brother Cory Redwine said, “It's sad to hear he's no longer with us, but it's better than not knowing, wondering every single second of every single day. It's nice to have closure. We found Dylan. That doesn't really mean all that much if we can't find justice and bring peace for him.”

Interested people around southwest Colorado, where he disappeared, and across the country quickly began turning to Facebook for a constant feed of information about the missing 13-year-old. As days, weeks and months went by, the Facebook page would become a powerful tool for bringing searchers together, advertising fundraisers and vigils, collecting donations for reward money that would top $50,000 and gathering tips about specialist private investigators who might help.

The Summer of Killer Dads

Several cases of murdered children remained unsolved, though fathers are suspected. Dylan Redwine, 13, vanished during a court-ordered Thanksgiving visit with his divorced dad last year, which triggered the Facebook page Find Missing Dylan Redwine seeking tips and clues to locate the teen. Dylan's remains were found last month ten miles from his father's home in southwestern Colorado. No one has yet been charged in the teen's murder.

Father's home searched again in Redwine case
The La Plata County home of Dylan Redwine's father was searched for a third time Wednesday.
The 13-year-old's remains were discovered in June on Middle Mountain near his father's house. The boy was last seen in November.
Mark Redwine said investigators from multiple law enforcement agencies came to his door with a search warrant Wednesday afternoon. They spent three hours at his home, which is near Vallecito Lake in southwestern Colorado.
