Because of the sensitive nature of this case, investigators say that it’s important that they examine every little detail. Lexington County and West Columbia fire departments have begun to search through the trash in the area.

That includes searching nearby homes, wooded areas, speaking with neighbors and searching vehicles. Authorities have expanded the search area to include West Columbia.

Officials are trying to account for everyone in Churchill Heights neighborhood at the time of Faye’s disappearance and one of the two vehicles have not been checked off that list yet.

'Bring Faye home': Search for missing South Carolina 6-year-old intensifies

After releasing an image Wednesday showing two vehicles known to be in the area where Faye was last seen, Cayce Public Safety Department said tips helped them identify and locate the people in one of the vehicles.

Investigators questioned the occupants of the SUV, but did not release any specifics from what they learned. Officers did say they still need help identifying the people in the car.

"That was a piece of the puzzle that we were trying to put together and because of the help of the public we were able to do that," Sgt. Evan Antley of the Cayce Public Safety Department said.

He also confirmed that investigators have towed vehicles away to be searched as part of the case. In addition, the home where Faye lives with her mother has been searched multiple times.

FM and her daughter said they were across the street at the Circle K between 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday.

That was the time Faye’s mother told police she realized that her daughter was missing from the house.

“[Faye's] mother came in and asked the cashier, ‘Did you see my daughter?’” FM explained.

The little girl was seen getting off her school bus. Faye’s mother told police that she came in the house, grabbed a snack and went out to play at exactly 3:44 p.m. That’s the last time she said she laid eyes on her child.

“She was crying And I was like, 'Oh, she has lost her daughter,'” said FM.

When FM and her daughter came back to their house in Church Hill Heights, they said a man came running up to them again around the same time just after Faye was reported missing.

“He just asked if I saw a 6-year-old roaming around by herself,” said the neighbor.

6-year-old Faye Swetlik found dead after disappearing from front yard in Cayce, S.C.

Thursday, Faye’s body was found somewhere in her neighborhood. Officers have launched a homicide investigation related to her death, but did not share how she died.

Police also said the body of a deceased male was found near Faye’s body and an investigation has started in that case. They did not, however, directly relate the cases at this time. That person has not been identified.

There is no danger to the community, police said. No arrests have been made at this time.
