HCSO SEARCHING FOR SUBJECT AFTER PARENTAL ABDUCTION

HOLMES COUNTY - Holmes County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for an Altha man after he abducted his children from a Holmes County residence earlier this evening.

25-year-old Joseph Blake Page, who has pre-existing warrants, including for felony child abuse, gained access to the home of the babysitter by falsely identifying himself as a Holmes County Sheriff’s Deputy and then forcing his way into the home and striking the homeowner with the door.

Page then took his two small children from the home and fled in a white Ford Escape bearing a Florida State tag on the front of the vehicle and a Florida State sticker on the back.

Page was last seen in the area of Jackson and Calhoun Counties.

Anyone with any information on Page’s whereabouts is asked to called Holmes County Sheriff’s Office at 850-547-3681 (option 1).

Bonifay is about 1/2 way between Pensacola, FL and Tallahassee, FL, but closer to the Florida/Georgia state line. The nearest big town would be Dothan, Georgia:

I want to hear more about this couple. Were they estranged? Has there been DV in their relationship? Why did he take the children? I suspect it boils down to the marriage going sour and the threat of his children being taken away from him. Did his wife have sole custody? Has anything even been filed in the courts? So many questions here. This sounds like a domestic issue with an immature daddy. jmo

Dothan is in AL. We are considered the Tri State area of Ga, FL, Al. Bonifay is in FL near the Al/FL state line.

This area is rife with drugs with meth being a huge problem.

HCSO RELEASES MORE DETAILS ON PATERNAL ABDUCTION

On Wednesday, July 3, Holmes County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Highway 2 in reference to a disturbance.

Contact was made with the victim/complaint, who stated her friend and kids had stayed with her for a couple nights because of a domestic violence issue that occurred in Calhoun County.

The victim further stated she was babysitting the children while the mom was at work when she heard someone knock at the door stating they were the Holmes County Sheriffs Office. She opened the door and observed it was Blake Page, who had outstanding felony warrants out of Calhoun County for false imprisonment, battery by strangulation, and child neglect.

The victim stated she attempted to shut the door on Page, and he forced his way into the home, striking the victim with the door. The victim grabbed her gun, but Page grabbed the kids and left the residence.

Deputies with Holmes, Jackson, and Calhoun County Sheriff’s Offices began looking for the suspect vehicle. FDLE was also notified for an Amber Alert due to Page having the felony warrants, with one of the children being a victim in that case.

Agents from Florida Department of Law Enforcement and deputies with Jackson County Sheriff’s Office were able to locate Page and take him into custody. The children were released to their mother and grandparents.

Page is charged with pre-existing Calhoun County warrants for battery by strangulation domestic violence, false imprisonment, and child neglect, as well as new charges in Holmes County for impersonating a law enforcement officer and burglary with battery and battery.
