Judge Aileen Cannon has postponed the hearing for Trump co-defendant Walt Nauta over potential conflicts of interest w/ his lawyer Stan Woodward bc she said the gov introduced new arguments related to the matter. Cannon admonished the gov for "wasting the court's time."

In a hearing Thursday, former Mar-a-Lago property manager Carlos De Oliviera waived the potential conflict of interest, repeatedly saying he's fine with his current attorney, John Irving, continuing to represent him despite alleged conflicts of interest Irving might have from representing potential government witnesses in the case.

While De Oliveira insisted he understood the issue, he appeared to struggle to describe in his own words the potential conflicts of interest his lawyer could face in the case. Earlier in the hearing, De Oliveira said he is more comfortable speaking in English than writing.

Judge Aileen Cannon, who can reject his waiver, has yet to rule on the matter.

(172) Supplemental response to standing discovery Order by USA to Trump, Nauta & De Oliveira. 10/9/23: (173) Response in Opposition by USA as to Trump, Nauta & De Oliveira re 160 MOTION For A Revised Schedule For Motions To Compel & CIPA § 4 Litigation Government's Opposition to Defendants' Motion for Adjournment of Trial Date Replies due by 10/16/2023.
10/9/23 Update: Government's Response in Opposition to Defendant's Motion for Adjournment or Trial Date filed by Jack Smith. Snipped: The defendants provide no credible justification to postpone a trial that is still seven months away. They are fully informed about the charges & the theory of the Government’s case from a highly detailed superseding indictment & comprehensive, organized unclassified & classified discovery. Their unfounded claims of Government noncompliance with discovery obligations do not support their request. Their claims about their inability to review classified information are distorted & exaggerated, and, in any event, the Government expects that the CISO will resolve any remaining issues this week. There is no reason to adjourn the trial date. The defendants’ motion should be denied.

LONDON, Oct 17 (Reuters) - Donald Trump's decision to declassify evidence given by ex-British spy Christopher Steele over the former U.S. president's alleged links with Russia led to the disappearance of two sources, Steele said in court documents made public on Tuesday.

Steele said in a witness statement that Trump's decision to declassify his 2017 testimony to Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation was "one of the most egregious breaches of intelligence rules and protocol by the US government in recent times".

The former intelligence officer also said: "Two of the named Russian sources have not been seen or heard of since."

His witness statement was made public on Tuesday, the day after Trump asked London's High Court to allow his data protection lawsuit against a British private investigations firm co-founded by Steele to continue.

Trump, the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, is suing Orbis Business Intelligence over the "Steele dossier" in order, he said in his own witness statement, to prove its claims were false.
Steele also said in his witness statement that he believed Trump was "motivated by a personal vendetta against me and Orbis and a desire for revenge".

He suggested Trump's discovery of Steele's friendship with his daughter Ivanka had damaged their relationship and also "deepened his animus towards me and is one of the reasons for his vindictive and vexatious conduct towards me and Orbis".

In his witness statement, Trump said Ivanka was "completely irrelevant to this claim and any mention of her only serves to distract this court from (Orbis') and Mr Steele's reckless behavior".

"Any inference or allegation that Mr Steele makes about my relationship with my daughter is untrue and disgraceful," Trump added.

I wasn't sure where to put this. Do we have a thread for this case ?

The federal judge overseeing Donald Trump's classified documents criminal case on Thursday hit the pause button on an upcoming filing deadline for the former president's lawyers so she can hear arguments in person over a dispute about the sharing of evidence before trial.

In a one-paragraph notice, U.S. District Court Judge Aileen Cannon summoned the attorneys for Trump and Special Counsel Jack Smith to appear and debate the issue on Nov. 1 in Fort Pierce, Fla.

Cannon also temporarily suspended a Friday deadline that Trump's team was facingto file motions seeking to compel discovery from Smith's team.

Putting this here because it is about a FL event, and the possible effect of the many criminal charges.

Donald Trump finally ran into something that keeps him off the golf course.

The man who played more than 250 rounds of golf during his presidency, and had not missed a pro-am prior to an LIV Golf event at one of his properties, was a no-show Thursday at Trump National Doral, the site of the final LIV event of the season.

Running a country was not as time-consuming as trying to defend oneself against four criminal cases totaling 91 felony counts.
