Again, not a detail that matters now, but I’m curious how much KM’s attorneys knew of all of these calls during her second trial? As we’ve seen today a great portion of them seem newly heard, for any defendant, in this case. But we also know they aren’t something they just received or recorded months ago.
 
I am no fan of Charlie’s, far from it. I think he’s guilty, and will be found guilty. It’s long overdue, and I hope he will not be the last of his family to face trial.
As a hardworking dentist, thankfully at the retiring stage of my career, can I just say a few words, in defence of dentist’s…….

Dental school is hard, and entry is competitive. Most dentists are reasonably smart, and persistent. There have been persistent rumours that Charlie had some help to get through dental school.

Dentists don’t want/ enjoy hurting others. A really important part of the work is pain relief and control. Sometimes we leave our wands at home, but most of us are pretty good at it.

Charlie did not earn 3.5 million dollars for his dental work in one year. That figure is not improbable, it’s impossible.

There are not many benefits for a dentist/ specialist to do the gig like work that he did. Working at different places every day sounds terrible to me. I can’t imagine anyone choosing that, long yet, if they could make a go of fewer, fixed jobs. Remember Harvey apparently didn’t trust his dental work.

Dentist’s are really shocked by this crime, for the same reasons everyone else is.
 
I think many of us predicted that Charlie would testify. He has to based on the extortion narrative. He’s the only one that can bring that evidence in. Otherwise, there is ZERO evidence of extortion. I mean, even with his testimony there will be technically zero evidence of extortion. But his testimony is evidence as opposed to Rashbaum’s opening and closing.

I pray that Sara Duggan will do the cross! I will literally cry if GC does it! Ultimately we should prepare for Charlie’s testimony to be frustrating and infuriating just like Wendi’s. He will just lie and be slippery like his sister. And much like Katie at her two trials. Just lies upon lies. I’m hoping Sara can get in there like a surgeon and nail him on a few things and get out quick. JMO

Charlie says on the wiretaps that “that’s not how it’s done,” meaning extortion is not done the way the “bump” guy did it. He says repeatedly that REAL extortionists wear disguises, and at one point he says “like an Abe Lincoln beard and a floppy hat.” So, Georgia asked the FBI agent whether extortionists ever wear an Abe Lincoln beard and a floppy hat. Of course he says no. I don’t know how Rash was planning to use that - maybe he was going to argue that Charlie knew all about extortion from the alleged first extortion. But he doesn’t. It’s not done like that.

I don’t think he was a very good dentist. If he were, he would’ve probably had his own office and people would’ve referred people to him. Specialists depend on such referrals. I think he was working in the offices of his dad’s friends and trying to pull a career out of that. There is some talk on the wiretaps about patients who are unhappy with his work. I think he had other sources of income, legal and maybe not legal. On the wiretaps he talks about insider trading. He also owned rental properties and he talks about drugs.
 
I don’t think he will be as good at lying as Wendi was. JMO.

Interesting. @amicuscurie @minusfour I hadn’t really given this much thought until your comments today. But now it makes perfect sense why he was a traveling periodontist - I can’t imagine he was skilled and good at it. I didn’t realize Harvey didn’t trust his dental skills! But where did he get all that money? He bought out his Dad’s practice! It doesn’t make sense that he bought his family’s practice but continued to be a traveling dentist. And it seeems like the whole family operated in cash a lot! Again? Very strange thing to do for a legit upper middle class family. These people operate like the mafia! JMO
 
We’ve heard a lot of new evidence and wire taps during this trial that have never been heard before. It makes me wonder if they have any taps with Donna and Wendi talking, or Wendi and Charlie and aren’t disclosing them because Wendi isn’t on trial (yet- if she ever will be). Is that even possible?

Dentist’s often buy their aged parents out. It’s often a transaction that benefits the parents more than the child. I suspect this is the case here, wasn’t their information that Harvey wasn’t that well?
