FL FL - Leila Cavett, 21, of GA (son Kamdyn, 2, found wandering streets), Miramar, 27 July 2020

I went down that rabbit hole. And 100% agree. But black sheep or not... every indication from everything seems to be that, despite whatever mistakes she made, that boy was loved and taken care of by her and wouldn't be wondering around with no sign of her unless something terrible happened to her.

I think you get that feeling too. And that's why you feel she is deceased. Unfortunately and sadly I think so too.
:(

You guys if she was met with foul play what if the perp dropped off Kam to make a complete distraction from everything thinking that LE would spend their time looking for his Mom? Like they probably were dumb enough to think that bc she lived so far away it would be hard to investigate. Not having a good feeling about this either.

LE says it has been verified that baby K is definitely Leila's son.

Police 'gravely concerned' in search for missing mom after toddler found wandering in Florida

BBM

MIramar Police told 11Alive that with the family's help, they were later able to use the boy's DNA to establish that Cavett is, in fact, his mother; so they know who she is, they just don't know where she is. They are asking people in the Metro Atlanta and north Georgia areas--including, possibly, in Dawson County--who know Cavett or who might have any information about her, to call 911. They said anyone who may have details about why she was in Florida or why she left Georgia should call them.

UPDATE: Florida police can’t find woman who may be mom of toddler found wandering alone
The curly haired tot was found near the 1860 block of SW 68th Avenue in Miramar, Miramar police said, and officers spent about 90 minutes canvasing the area and asking residents about the child’s identity and his parents, but no one recognized him, as CrimeOnline previously reported.

On Monday afternoon, they identified Leila Cavett as the boy’s possible mother.

Mom of wandering toddler has ties to Walker County
rbbm.
''A woman believed to be the mother of a toddler found wandering outside an apartment complex in Miramar, Florida, on Sunday has ties to Walker County.

Walker County Sheriff's Office Investigator Carl Carpenter said Leila Cavett, 21, has lived in Walker County in the past and currently has a pending court case here but is not considered to be missing from Walker County.

Her Facebook page lists her as living in Atlanta. Court records list her address as Muscle Shoals.

"We don't have any reason to believe that she is anywhere else but southern Florida,"
said Carpenter, the major crimes/missing person investigator at WCSO.

"She's very close to her child from what we understand. I believe whatever the circumstances were in Florida for her child to turn up down there, I don't have any reason not to believe that she is down there, and I have a lot of concern about her if the child was by himself," Carpenter said.''

''The last time Cavett was confirmed to be in Walker County was in October 2019, according to Carpenter.

According to court documents, Cavett was arrested in Cordova on drug charges in September and received two traffic tickets in October. Cavett failed to appear on the traffic violations at a court date in February, which resulted in her driver's license being suspended in March.''

A few things...

I wouldn't put any thought into her saying on her FB that she lives in Atlanta. Tons of people do that, even if they are really in the far outer regions of the metro area.

I've had a bad feeling about this truck everyone keeps posting about. Has anyone actually seen anything that says she actually sold the Corolla?

I'm not feeling that the body in WPB is her. Just due to the fact that she wouldn't have been in the water long and would have been easily identifiable by her two tattoos. Family would have known by now and they don't.

Tonight’s update from police on the missing mom in Miramar. Police think Leila Cavett is the mom of a 2-year-old found alone over the weekend. Her family told us she lives in Georgia and don’t know why she was in South Florida. The search continues.

Leila trying to sell stuff might not be drug related, these are hard times for everybody. We don't know if she was working and how she was supporting herself and her son, but it's probably safe to assume that she was most likely going through some financial hardships as of late and there's no shame in that, many of us were hit by COVID-19 HARD. Now, it does appear that Leila had some issues/problems related to drugs, she has drug charges and her family sort of alludes to that. This could be directly or indirectly related to drugs, or maybe it has nothing to do with it. I just don't understand how she would just leave and go to Florida with her 2-year-old son without telling anyone. No family members or friends came out to say "oh yeah, Leila told me she was going to Florida". Not one single person.
Now, if her phone is still on, LE should be able to ping it and find the general location of it. If it's still on, it might be a good sign, meaning that she charged it not too long ago. But there's the possibility that someone could have her phone. The last known contact via Facebook Messenger might have not been her at all. Sending a "thumbs up" is hardly a proof of anything. I'm leaning torwards someone else has her phone.
