Stephan Sterns still faces no murder charges in the Madeline Soto case, but an expert says "he's not getting out of jail."

"No matter what, he's not getting out of jail," said David Thomas, a professor of forensic studies at Florida Gulf Coast University.

Thomas says if Sterns is convicted, he will never see a day outside a jail cell.

"Originally, I knew they charged him with one or two charges in the very beginning, and that's fine because they got him off the phone. Now what they've done is a complete forensic analysis and recorded almost every incident that he had," Thomas said.

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. —
A professor of forensic studies is weighing in on the 60 new charges against Stephan Sterns, the lead suspect in the death of 13-year-old Madeline Soto.
Sterns is also the boyfriend of Madeline's mother.

Kissimmee police to update investigation into Madeline Soto’s disappearance, death
KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Kissimmee police on Thursday are scheduled to provide an update into the disappearance and death of 13-year-old Madeline Soto.
The Kissimmee Police Department said investigators have been pursuing leads and will highlight the progress of the case during a 2 p.m. news conference, which will be livestreamed at the very top of this story.
Stephan Sterns, the 37-year-old boyfriend of Madeline Soto’s mother, is the prime suspect in Soto’s death, according to law enforcement.
