"New York City police say they would like ballistics results of the gun used in the Tampa, Florida, killings to see if it matches any unsolved crimes in New York."

Snip

"NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said police will go back through cold cases to see whether Donaldson could be linked to any crimes."

http://www.whsv.com/content/news/Tampa-police-chief-says-same-gun-used-in-4-slayings-460788553.html

*it will be very interesting to see what comes of this.

(**ftr: even if not a match, could be a different weapon.)
If he just bought the gun after the Vegas shooting, it is doubtful it will turn anything up.

if someone knows how it would be
interesting to know if he actually graduated

His jobs were entry level menial stuff

something was going on for him coming out mental onset something

Yes. All of this. Totally agree!

I know gun control is a hot topic issue in our country and yet Donaldson bought his gun from a gun shop, legally. I am not getting into a debate about the issue but what I don't understand is why isn't the most basic control gun being enforced? To me right at the time of purchase there should be a gun test and the casings recovered could have a ballistic report generated and entered into some sort of National Database that can be used to locate gun owner's whose gun is used in any type of crime involving the gun.

Wouldn't that sound like a simple, yet effective way to have some sort of gun control? All the testing costs would be passed onto the new owner and I'm also including sales from gun shows too. Of course it's not 100% since we then have the issue of illegal guns being on the streets.

I just think doing this could prevent crimes or easier to find that gun's owners. I'm not even a gun owner and know nearly nothing about guns, but this doesn't seem like a tricky process to have done with every gun purchased in this country....
Fantastic idea! Seriously, write your senators.

Apologies if already posted, I had to skim bigtime to catch up - per GMA ticker the suspect will be in court today.

I'm not convinced he was intending to take off. Of course, I don't know for sure. Maybe we'll get confirmation that was ready to flee, but I don't think so. I think he was playing a game and had no intention to stop.

Total speculation and hunch, not fact.

jmo

If he didn't plan to leave then why would all his worldly possessions be in luggage in the trunk of his car? I watched video of the police searching his luggage, pulling out multiple pairs of shoes, clothing. He was packed and ready to go, either by flying or driving.... More will be revealed.....

A walk-on is a player who was not actively recruited beforehand or awarded an athletic scholarship. This results in the differentiation between "walk-on" players and "scholarship" players.

Thank you Jax, I was patiently waiting for someone to answer the question but I gave up many, many comments ago.:tyou::tyou:

St. John's University SAT Score Analysis (Old 2400 SAT) The 25th percentile SAT score is 960, and the 75th percentile SAT score is 1180. In other words, a 960 places you below average, while a 1180 will move you up to above average.

It utilizes a semester-based academic calendar. St. John's University's ranking in the 2018 edition of Best Colleges is National Universities, 165. Its tuition and fees are $40,790 (2017-18). St. John's University is a Roman Catholic institution open to students of all faiths.

Roman catholic is pretty homophobic yes??

Curious as it relates to at least half of his victims were openly gay?

It came in at 165 in rankings of collages

We established some time ago that all victims seem to have been heterosexual, with the exception of the woman, who may have been bi, but had been in a heterosexual relationship for some time.

Something changed and indeed it appears he was spiraling out of control. "IF" his linkin profile is facts, then we have an educated, athletic, consistently employed, young man who on the surface or from what we know, appeared to be doing well in life. Then 'something' changed. He went from living in NY, employed, to back in FL and apparently desperate for a job if he was working at McD. I am NOT downing an employee of McD! I'm saying it was would appear to be a much lower paying job then he has held. That sealed arrest in NY... "IF" it was drug related or gang related and sealed for his protection, kind of like an informant? I don't know.

What's the age again for young men and schizophrenia? Could a recent mental illness? He was just arrested, so haven't heard much from people that knew him yet. If there's no one saying they aren't surprised, that he had displayed some behavioral red flags...then I do wonder about mental illness.

One co-worker did make a statement to the effect that everyone at that McDonald's were like family but him. He seemed to be outside the circle of the family like atmosphere since he started working there a few months earlier.

Hi my dear!

There was video of him walking between buildings --imo looked nothing like the other stuff

I assume being in handcuffs alters this somewhat but in terms of agility displayed in spooky videos his even getting into the cop car did not seem that agile

i watched it a couple of times cause it struck me

I apologize for it being Fox it is the first result that came with the slow mo !!

Here is the perp walk , in light loose clothes like the spooky video

humm maybe he was high during the killings??

just an aside university seems to be in 11439 zip code

This is just not accurate

Florida cops on Tuesday busted a former St. John’s basketball player

he never played

his job at the medical setting was answering the phone --

Cops broke the law -- you cant put anyone in handcuffs and the back of a cop car without charging someone with a crime

according to the article at the time he was placed in the car:

he was not under arrest and had not been formally accused of any wrongdoing or connection to the possible Tampa serial killings.

he might have some legal benefits here -- a defense attorney would certainly want to know why his client was handcuffed and placed in a cop car, schelped to the station , .

This might explain why there was a sudden request for an attorney-- might have accidently by accident oopps not been given his miranda rights -- of course they cant nor would they -- he was not under arrest for anything (hey its a high pressure case)

IMO this also helps explain the peculiarities of the initial presser.

If there is any truth to family having some financial resources and being able to hire an attorney they can have some very serious issues down the road

you cant take people civil liberties away while you go hunt to see if the person you have handcuffed MIGHT have committed a crime

explains the (struck me as so bizarre in the initial presser) that we are getting our paperwork in order while having a citizen at the station

not the correct order nor how it works in america

“We have to be very careful what we release because this person might be completely innocent.

He played throughout high school, though. And according to friends in MSM articles, he was still playing with them. That doesn't go away. Girls I knew who were gymnasts in high school still hold the secret a certain way 25 years later. Guys who played football in high school still walk their walk from HS. Same with basketball players.

I agree that being a juvenile would be one reason it could be sealed. The only other reason I can think of is sometimes a judge will seal the records to a case for some other reason. If it involved the school he was attending then maybe the school requested the judge to seal the case.

It would be interesting to find out what his previous legal trouble was to see if any hints to him headed towards a mass murderer.

This case is such a tragedy all the way around. He had a lot going for him and his entire future and decides to become a mass murderer. It is so bizarre. It really makes me think something was wrong with him mentally.

My thoughts are mainly with the victims and their familiies and that the community can now get some relief.

Since we followed this case so closely we of course have additional questions now about all the details of why he did such a thing. Its human nature for us to want to dig into this further now. Lets hope some good investigative reporters will be able to dig more information.

Here is a way to understand sealing a court record:

How much does it cost to seal/expunge my record? $1,500 flat fee for attorneys fees, plus $75 costs. The only costs associated with sealing/expunging a record are for the filing fee that needs to be paid to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Operating Trust Fund. There are NO HIDDEN FEES.

To seal criminal records under this law, you will need to petition to seal your recordat the court where the case was heard. A list of courts and their addresses and phone numbers is available online. You must go to the Criminal Clerk's Office at the court to get a Petition to Seal form.

How Long Does It Take To Have A Florida Criminal Record Sealed or Expunged? The average time to complete a Florida record sealing or expungement is 5-7 months on average.

“We have to be very careful what we release because this person might be completely innocent.

You can't be handcuffing innocent people

You can extend an invitation for a citizen to come to the station for a chat on his own free will if willing .

That’s now changed, and police have ID’d the man they encountered at McDonald’s as Howell Donaldson

He had no criminal record according to them ??

We have a lot of work to do.

Typically you do the work prior to handcuffing citizens - had he committed a crime ?

However, they later revealed that Donaldson has been charged with the slayings.

Dugan said before that news broke that he was optimistic because “things are falling in place,” but he said that had happened before and “led to nothing.”

Optimism does not mean one can be arrested .

before the name was revealed that it would be a slow process that will require search warrants and interviews to determine whether the man could be tied to the Tampa homicides.

What was he in handcuffs for??

it took only a few hours for police to say they’d made the case.

The case is made then one is arrested -- the order is totally backward

I am now understanding why the initial presser just struck me as soooo strange

Yes, I believe this has to do with Seminole Heights

beliefs are not probable cause

I’m hopeful, but I’m guarded

One of perp's fellow college basketball buddies (perp never played, only practiced with St. John's team) said Donaldson
was not a great player because he was constantly tripping due to being so pidgeon-toed.
Well, I just went back and viewed several of the videos released by LE of perp walking away from crime scenes, and lo and behold the person in videos is extremely pidgeoned toed.

Has a public defender--- bond hearing on Tuesday --untill than no bond---and that is it---rest of hearing postponed until next Tuesday
