This was a total winner folks! And very few ingredients ! I stuck to the recipe exactly apart from upped the garlic and added an onion. The fennel seeds - wow - never used them before, great flavour. It was a bit fiddly taking the skins off the sausages but apart from that very easy and tasty recipe, thumbs up

Your pasta dish looks delicious. Our pasta puttanesca was good, too. One serving left over. Most meat counters at major supermarkets carry bulk sausage so you don't have to fuss with the casings.

This year's plentiful cherry season could end up the pits for some Michigan farmers as a good portion of the crop might end up left on the ground due to a lack of demand for the tart fruit.

The state's cherry farmers say their bountiful crop comes as many of them are also struggling to find processors to pit their cherries amid an expedited timeline to get cherries shaken off trees.

Worsening matters, farmers are facing skyrocketing costs, a labor shortage and competitively priced imports, said Greg Williams, owner of Williams Orchards in Leelanau County, who added he may be forced to leave some of his crop in the fields if he can't find a processor to pit his cherries. He said that if the cherries remaining in the field aren't harvested within the next two weeks, they will spoil...

:(

We went to Mexican Village on Sunday. Had to wait 25 minutes to be seated, but we enjoyed our waiter and had a nice early dinner. I skipped the Margarita and had pinot grigio on the very hot day, while DH had a Corona. He had chicken fajitas, and I ordered the chicken chimichanga that I'd never had before. The plate had two chimichangas with MV's awesome beans and rice. I barely finished one of the delicious chicken/onion/pepper bundles and ate about half the beans and rice. DH barely put a dent in his fajitas, so we had plenty of leftovers yesterday. I wanted to learn more about chimichangas and found this quite amusing and informative. What Is a Chimichanga?

DH is cutting the lawn now and will make a trip to Costco this afternoon. Even though we both had chicken dishes at MV and ate the leftovers yesterday, DH will get a rotisserie chicken at Costco for dinner tonight and leftovers for the next couple of days. We continue to work on our cleaning project that will likely take longer than we anticipated. Still working in the kitchen - we knew it would be the hardest, and it is challenging, to be sure.

Sounds like you had a lovely Sunday dinner. DH and I also have a favorite local Mexican restaurant. Chimichangas are usually one of my go to items and I always enjoy having one of their house margaritas.

We have not been eating out as much lately because we have been anticipating a order we placed for half a hog and needed to use the items in our freezer to make room for our hog. We received our hog a couple weeks ago and have enjoyed all the items we have cooked so far.

p.s. I have been enjoying all the recipes everyone has been sharing and can’t wait to try several of them.

A nice simple dinner tonight, sausage casserole with potatoes and cabbage. It's hot here in scotland, yes it happens occasionally ha! And not exactly what you want to eat on a hot day! But I enjoyed it nonetheless. I should have buttered my potatoes though!

I'm making the pasta dish again on Friday, I enjoyed it so much plus I have half a tub of marscapone left over!

I enjoy the photos of your meals!

I've never used mascarpone in cooking, but DH and I indulge in a shared slice of limoncello cake with mascarpone and white chocolate frosting from a local restaurant once in a while. Divine!

Only slept 11:00pm to 3:00am. I got up and decided to do food prep before the sun tortures us all. Started with a pitcher of fresh iced tea. Made a bacon, egg, & cheese with mustard sandwich on chibatta bread.

Made a gluten free graham cracker crust for a lemon cheesecake with blueberries on top. I cannot claim to be a good pie crust maker that is for sure. The crushed GF crumbs make it easy.

My youngest is the kid who eats whatever isn’t nailed down. When her food allergies exploded at 15 years old, we managed to make stuff for her. No matter how weird or ugly it looked. She eats it and is grateful. She is my caretaker tomorrow when I have foot surgery. She deserves her own cheesecake.

I’m starting the gluten free pear bread next. That way they’ll be mini loves for breakfast to go with our mugs of hot tea.

Are you going to have to be off your feet for recovery? I hope the procedure goes well and that you won't have much discomfort afterwards.

When you get up really early, do you go back to bed or take a nap during the day?

The podiatrist sees me this afternoon and hopefully will give me a more definite time frame. I will wear a boot for 2 weeks is what he said when I saw him last time. It's tiny bone on the top of my foot that is fractured. He has to remove a piece of it and sand down the remaining piece. I have no idea how I fractured it but that is Multiple Myeloma for you, sneeze and break a bone I guess.

My steroid day is every Tuesday so I am usually up most of the night. I am exhausted when I get home after a long day of treatment. I fell asleep from 4:30-6:00pm because I was so exhausted yesterday. Then I fell back to sleep last night, which surprised me honestly. I'm going to try not to nap today. Not sure how successful I'll be.

I want to cook up some of these veggies from the produce pickup today. Everything looks really good. I only had to toss one sweet potato.

The cheesecake looks great and so does the pear bread. She will be excited because she doesn't know about them. She just thinks she is getting extra veggies. Hehehehe!

I went out to a restaurant today for the first time since pre March 2020! Had a girls’ lunch with my mum and sister. My parents recently had Covid in early July (recovered without any complications or need for treatment thankfully) which has helped with their confidence greatly.

Anyway, we all three had an excellent steak-frites and finally I got the margarita I have been wanting. Had a lovely, special time.

Just realised as it’s our foodie friends here more info should be supplied! So I started with garlic mushrooms and they both had a tomato/chorizo dish. We had avocado side salads with the mains and shared a portion of salted caramel profiteroles with warm chocolate sauce for dessert. My mum had a pornstar martini with the shot of prosecco on the side (!) and my sister as designated driver had a fruity berry cocktail.

Your lunch sounds wonderful. Glad you had a nice outing. What, pray tell, is a "pornstar martini"? Sounds like something that one would sip with pasta puttanesca :D

When we went for Mexican on Sunday, I got pinot grigio instead of a Margarita. It was hot and muggy, and, even though a Margarita on the rocks is cold and refreshing, the beverage tends to make me feel sluggish. White wine is much lighter and a better choice on a hot, humid day.

We are having a second heatwave again here but I was determined to have that Margarita! Luckily our restaurants (unlike our homes) do tend to have aircon so I wasn’t too snoozy.

A pornstar martini is v popular here. It’s essentially vanilla vodka with fresh passion fruit, lime and sometimes passion fruit liqueur and served in a martini glass. On the side you have a shot of Prosecco which you then pour into the martini to fun it up a little. We really laughed when our waiter said oooh it’s a little early for THAT, madam, when my mum read it from her menu.

I went to the church for regular groceries tonight. Check out those yellow zucchini!! How cool is that? I had to look them up and it says they’re sweeter than the green ones. I’m going to roast them tonight.
