GUILTY GA - Ahmaud Arbery, 25, jogger, fatally shot by former LEO and son, Brunswick, Feb 2020 *Arrests* #6

I have to think that the Arbery family knew of some of this material before court today. I would imagine this is exactly why they didn't feel these men should get a plea bargain and be let off the hook for their words and deeds.

I am so disgusted by these murderers. I can see why they wanted to take the deal so this would not be the record.

I never wish harm to people in prison. But, I do think that no environment will be completely safe for these men given this testimony. The blatant racist statements and thinking will mark them in any prison they are in.

They played the whole three hours of Larry English's deposition.

The Final 2/16 Tweets:

English testified for hours via video because of a serious health problem. This was also played at the murder trial. The McMichaels have said they pursued #AhmaudArbery because he was a suspected burglar, citing the English house--but that contradicts what English said. @wsbradio

English says he'd had a couple thousand dollars' worth of electronics and a Yeti cooler among items stolen from his boat, and it may have happened when the boat was docked at the Satilla property. So he installed surveillance cameras. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

English's cameras alerted him when people went onto his property, which didn't have a fence, or any "Keep Out" or "No trespassing" signs. Sometimes when he got an alert, he'd call 911. Not always. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

English, a contractor, says it's common for folks to look around buildings under construction. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Oct. 25, 2019, one of #AhmaudArbery's visits, English called 911 from his home in another county to say he had "a trespasser there, a colored guy, got real curly hair... tattooed down both arms...kind of plundering around." He also called a neighbor. @wsbradio

English explained when he said "plundering," he didn't mean "stealing," just looking around, not taking anything. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

English called 911 again Nov. 17, 2019, when a white couple visited his home under construction. The man appeared to have "a tool bag," and he told police he wanted to call quickly because "I think they might be trying to steal."

English said he never saw #AhmaudArbery steal or disturb anything & e didn't accuse him of doing so. Arbery never had anything in his hands, nor a bag of any type; he just didn't want him on the property.

Larry English also said that he didn't authorize the McMichaels to go stopping anyone there. On cross, Travis McMichael attorney Bob Rubin elicited that English HAD shared info with a neighbor, Diego Perez and given him the OK to check things out. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Court resumes at 9:00 Thursday morning. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Thank you, @Kristin Esq. , as always, for the Tweets.

This is, like the first trial, very difficult to listen to. It's a sad reflection of humanity, that people still think like this and worse, they think it's a-okay.

I'm going to hopefully get it all through the search: 2/17

Good morning! The first prosecution witness today in the federal hate crimes trial of #AhmaudArbery's murderers is Glynn County Police Officer Robert Rash, a patrolman who's been with the department almost 11 years. Satilla Shores was part of his responsibility. @wsbradio

FLze4VjXEAcxMh9

He described Satilla Shores as quiet, middle-class, mostly older families, not many kids to play in the area, just a few petty crimes, nothing serious. Rash first heard from Larry English about a guy in his house under construction Oct. 25, 2019. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Rash said the guy was just walking around the unwalled, open house; he didn't take anything. He'd never seen him before. Rash didn't find anyone when he arrived. Asked people he saw out if they'd seen the guy English sent him screenshots of that night. #AhmaudArbery

Rash says his intention was to find the guy and give English the option to "trespass him," meaning tell the guy the homeowner didn't want him there. Trespassing requires the accused has knowledge they're not wanted there; then someone could be arrested. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

English would alert Rash whenever the Black male was on the property. On Nov. 18, English sent video of the Black male who'd been back there the night before. The guy was "plundering around, being nosy, walking on the dock," but didn't bother anything. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Rash said English never suggested to him that the Black guy on the videos had taken anything. Dec. 1, English called Rash to tell him about someone under the bridge Nov. 17. He had video of an unidentified white couple on his property at night. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Rash and English both found it concerning that the white man was carrying a canvas tool bag that could contain tools/drill set; they tools could've been used to commit a crime, and/or the bag could be used to conceal items they might steal. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Rash said if he'd found the white man and woman, he would have done the same as if he'd found the Black man--give the homeowner the opportunity to trespass them. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

English's call Dec. 1 was because he'd seen a car near the bridge that was similar to what he saw on video Nov. 17 and asked Rash to check it out; he'd heard rumors someone was living under the bridge. He checked it out Dec. 2, didn't find anything #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Dec. 8, Ofcr. Rash responded to the Herndon residence in response to a firearm theft from an unlocked vehicle. The suspect captured on surveillance video was a white male. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

At some later date, Rash learned Travis McMichael had had a gun stolen from his vehicle. Rash says no, the white male suspect who stole the gun seen on video has never been caught. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Prosecutor begins asking Rash about some agreement agreed to by parties. (My connection to court is lost. Gotta get back in) #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Back in and heard Rash saying something about "It was a roommate of RW, who is white. The roommate who got arrested is white. Some other white resident of Satilla Shores had also had run-ins with the law: drug use, theft, running from the police" #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Then Rash said before Dec. 1 he was trying to find the unidentified Black male. He'd show neighbors the photo to see if they'd seen him. After Dec. 1 he would show screenshots of the white individuals, too. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Rash had said earlier that the W/M suspect's photo was put into the neighborhood FB group) #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Dec 20 2020, Rash saw Greg McMichael in his front yard as Rash drove by. He recognized him from previously being in law enforcement. Convo was same as with others--looking for people trespassing--shows GM pics of the white couple and the Black guy #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio224

Greg McMichael offered Ofc. Rash his phone number. Rash told McMichael his concerns about the bag the white couple had. Never suggested the Black guy had stolen anything. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Feb. 11 2020 was next time he saw Greg McMichael. Travis McMichael had called 911; Rash was told there was a burglary in progress and that the male in question had been "reaching in his pocket or waistband" #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Rash and other officers responded. They didn't find anyone. The McMichaels and neighbor Diego Perez were there. Rash called Larry English, asked him to check videos; he did, and sent to Rash. English said the Black guy had not been seen taking anything #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Rash conversed with Greg and Travis McMichael. Jury sees bodycam video of Feb. 11, 2020. Travis said the Black guy ran into the house when he'd splashed his car headlights on him. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

They talked about the Black male being seen in the house and that he had not been seen taking anything. Rash shows McMichaels video. Same Black male on the visits. An expensive saw is in video worth $500-700. the man never touches it #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Rash said across the four months #AhmaudArbery visited, he never took anything. English wanted to ID him "to find out why he kept coming back." Rash is unaware of any other contact with that property between Feb. 11 and the day of shooting Feb. 23 #AhmaudArbery

They reiterated that the Herndon's gun thief is a white guy #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

A.J. Balbo, Greg McMichael's attorney, is doing cross. After English called, how long did it take you to get there? Estimate. Rash says 5-10 minutes without any delays/duties in the way. Balbo asks how well area was illuminated. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Oct. 25 when Rash got there he went to Sube Lawrence's property; English had said the Black man had gone that direction. She wasn't there but another neighbor, Diego Perez was nearby because Lawrence had called him about Black male being on her front porch #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Diego Perez was looking for the Black male. Rash didn't learn of the white folks visiting Nov. 17 until Dec. 1. When Rash got the Nov 18 call from Dispatch about the Black man being on the property it took 5-10 minutes again. He didn't find anyone there. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Level of concern of English?: Rash says he wanted to know who it was, why, concern of him being on dock, liability for falling in, safety. Rash, when asking neighbors, didn't find anyone who knew or had seen the guy. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

English called Rash regularly; a lot of times Rash had to tell him he wasn't on duty, call the department. So he was concerned not just about Arbery but about several? Yes. When he mentioned people under bridge, he referred to white couple he'd seen? Yes #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Balbo: English suspected they stole his electronics, Yeti cooler? Rash: Something, because they had the bag. Couldn't fit cooler in that. Balbo: Ever learn anyone else went out to that bridge to investigate? Prosecution: Objection #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Balbo: Dec 20, 2019 when you were on patrol and saw Greg McMichael, you told him about suspicious characters: #AhmaudArbery, the white couple, suspect who'd taken Herndon's firearm? Yes. Shared English videos? Yes. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Balbo: You thought Greg McMichael and his years of investigation might be helpful, his powers of perception? Rash: Yes. In that private conversation, did McMichael use any kind of racial epithet to describe #AhmaudArbery? Rash: No he did not @wsbadio

Balbo: On the night of Feb 11, Travis McMichael is the one who saw something suspicious and called 911? Rash: Yes. You and fellow officers cleared it? Right. Could be dangerous if you don't know what you're getting into? Right. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Balbo: It sounds like on video you three are kind of brainstorming. Rash: Correct. Talked about other thefts in neighborhood? There was no hard or soft evidence showing #AhmaudArbery had committed crimes? Yes. But investigating must keep open mind? Yes @wsbradio

Balbo: Agree that #AhmaudArbery visiting several times in dark is a little suspicious? Rash: To me, yes. Balbo: Not because he's a Black man? Rash: No. Visits over and over, after dark. Balbo: No evidence white couple came back over and over? Rash: No @wsbradio

Travis McMichael attorney Pete Theodocion's cross: You're familiar with Satilla Shores before Feb 23, 2020; any problems with burglary? Rash: No. Only gun from Herndons. Roddie Bryan never talked to you about that, trespassing, anything? Rash: Correct #AhmaudArbery

Theodocion: There were no "no trespassing" signs. No one knew they were unwelcome. If someone wanted to walk out and have a sandwiches and beers from their bag on the dock, that's not unlawful? Rash: Until Mr. English trespasses them #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Theodocion: But if they're there for an unlawful purpose to steal? Rash: If they'd been told. T: But if they were there with that intent, that's criminal trespassing? R: Yes. The moment they walked under the roof, with criminal intent, that's burglary? yes #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Amy Lee Copeland's cross for Travis McMichael: Plays Feb 11 911 call for jury. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Isn't that the most accurate record of what Travis McMichael said happened? Yes. Rash tells Copeland the police response was lights and sirens. She asked, isn't the English property kind of in the main drag of that street? He says yes #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

AUSA Bernstein redirect: The 911 call Copeland played, Travis McMichael said we've had "a string of burglaries" and then "a lot of burglaries." In the entire year leading to Feb. 23, how many? Rash: I responded to none. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Mr. Theodocion asked you about break-ins: What did you mean? Rash: Entering autos. Locked or unlocked? Rash: It was unlocked.

AUSA: Why did you think Greg McMichael would be a good witness? Rash: Based on his training he'd know what we'd need to know: Description, what direction he ran. More accurate than people who mix up details. Thought he'd call 911 if he saw the Black guy. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

AUSA: Did you think he'd get in his truck and chase after him? Ofc. Rash: No ma'am. AUSA: Did you think he'd arm himself and go after him? Expect him to point a gun at him and threaten to blow his head off? Rash: No ma'am. Was that your intent? No ma'am #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

AUSA: How many violent crimes, leading up to and including Feb. 23, 2020, were there in Satilla Shores? Ofcr. Rash: One. AUSA: The death of #AhmaudArbery? Rash: Yes. @wsbradio

Rash explains a "burlgary in progress" warrants lights and sirens even if there is no firearm. Travis McMichael said "He's in there right now with a flashlight" on the 911 call. Was that true? No. That was Diego Perez #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Diego claimed he'd been watching the place the whole time. Rash later learned that was untrue--he had gone home #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

AUSA: If someone had called 911 and said there's a young man in shorts and a tee with nothing in his hands, ambling around a wide-open building, would police have responded lights and sirens? Rash: No #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

A juror sent a note asking who the 2nd lawyer was questioning Larry English in the video deposition. The Judge says that was a lawyer for Travis McMichael. None of those lawyers are involved here. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Government calls Anne Kisler-Rao, who works in the Trace Evidence section of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. They analyze small, often microscopic evidence. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

FLz3bR9VQAUJfyZ

This, after entering an agreed-upon stipulation about a Glynn Co. policeman who collected prints and fibers from defendant Roddie Bryan's black pickup truck and listing its evidence numbers. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Travis McMichael texted his friend a photo of someone in a tee that said "At least I'm not a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬." The person in the tee appears to be disabled. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

Kisler-Rao describes comparing white cotton fibers from truck with #AhmaudArbery's tee, which was white, "originally." She couldn't use the whole thing because "The tee was almost covered in reddish-brown stains" and it was hard to find a white area. @wsbradio

FLz5RTAXMAMkNHL

The fibers from Roddie Bryan's truck and from #AhmaudArbery's T-shirt were consistent, said Kisler-Rao. Pete Theodocion's cross is brief: White cotton si very prevalent fiber? K-R: Yes. So it's "possible" it's from that tee but that's as far as you can go? Correct @wsbradio

Dr. Edmund Donoghue, forensic pathologist and medical examiner at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, is the next prosecution witness in the hate crimes trial. He performed the autopsy on #AhmaudArbery's body. @wsbradio

FLz7ZJrWQAESpdA

Dr. Donoghue has given the jury information on his medical and career background, and about the autopsy process. Now they're about to launch into details of the #AhmaudArbery autopsy. @wsbradio

They scrolled briefly through a subset of pictures. #AhmaudArbery's body was clothed. He had nothing in his pockets. Stated age was 25, and he looked like it. He weighed 164, 5'10", muscular. @wsbradio

Donoghue acknowledges that Yes, it's sometimes hard for people to look at autopsy pictures, even though the office tries to clean them up. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

#AhmaudArbery had marks on forehead and around right eye; they are abrasions. There are lacerations above the lip, just below the nose. Donoghue says it's typical of an unguarded fall, when someone fell on their face. @wsbradio

Dr. Donoghue circles 2 medically-significant injuries on #AhmaudArbery: a wound in his chest, and by his left upper chest/armpit area. Third wound was on his right wrist, a grazing shotgun wound. @wsbradio

The "grazing" wound was in fact very deep & involves the ulnar artery and ulnar vein; grazing means going sideways/tangentially over the body. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio

I'm doing my best with these. I'll be back later for more.

2/17 Tweets Continued:

Donoghue testified the order of gunshots was unknown, but after he saw the video, he could determine the first shot caused the graze wound on #AhmaudArbery's right wrist and entrance wound on center of chest. They happened simultaneously.
@wsbradio

The center chest wound goes through #AhmaudArbery's left lung; pellets exit side of chest, lodge beneath the skin. Hole is made by a group of buckshot pellets. You see a number of holes and phenomenon that look like "pimples." Caused by buckshot pellets beneath the skin
@wsbradio

On the right side with #AhmaudArbery's body turned over, Donoghue says you see exit wounds (areas where skin is broken) and more buckshot pellets beneath the skin (raised, no broken skin).
@wsbradio

Donoghue says the muzzle of the shotgun was sideways over the skin; no pellets found in #AhmaudArbery's wrist. Some may've gone into body, others likely scattered. This wrist wound could've been fatal itself because it involved the ulnar artery and vein.
@wsbradio

That shotgun shot hit sternum, space b/t 5th and 6th ribs, lung, & fractured ribs 6-10. Dr. Donoghue says it "broke the ribs and went through the body...tore through the lungs and ripped the tissue. No pellets hit his heart." #AhmaudArbery's heart was still beating.
@wsbradio

FL0GLjPX0AM3SZy

#AhmaudArbery's being shot would've triggered the brain's "fight or flight" reaction, causing secretion of epinephrine and adrenaline, raising the heart rate, blood pressure, dilating pupils, shuts down blood supply to gut. Adrenaline kept him going.
@wsbradio

Donoghue says injuries to #AhmaudArbery's chest & armpit came last. You see his shirt flare up from shotgun pellets exiting the body. Hit his brachial plexus. Created a specific injury/paralysis called the "waiter's tip" position. Thinks 2nd shot was a complete miss
@wsbradio

The upper chest shot broke #AhmaudArbery's humerus (bone in palm/upper arm) and scapula--the shoulder blade kids call "angel wings." The injuries on his face came after he ran and fell "flat on his face" after the third gunshot.
@wsbradio

Defense attorney Amy Lee Copeland asks Dr. Donoghue whether #AhmaudArbery's wrist wound could be consistent with someone pushing a shotgun away from them--if the wound on wrist and chest happened at same time? Donoghue thinks about it: I guess it could be, yes.
@wsbradio

ALC: Could that be consistent with someone grabbing a shotgun? Donoghue: Not having hand down here, no. ALC: Remember testifying in prior proceeding in this case? ALC shows him something. D reads: It could be, yes #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

A.J. Balbo for Greg McMichael: These wounds were grave wounds? Donoghue: Yes. Balbo: There was nothing that could've been done at the scene to have saved Mr. #AhmaudArbery's life? Donoghue: That's correct. End of cross.
@wsbradio

Pete Theodocion for Roddie Bryan: You want to document every injury, not just fatal ones?...You noted 20 different things under "Evidence of Injury." 1-3 are the gunshots, 4-9 various minor facial injuries consistent with fall to pavement? D: Correct. #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

Theodocion: #10, you indicated a brown abrasion inside the elbow? Could that be consistent with the battle over the shotgun? Donoghue: Possible; haven't formed an opinion. PT: 11-20 were abrasions to hands/fingers? Consistent with fall to pavement? D: Yes #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

Theodocion: There are no injuries to #AhmaudArbery consistent with him being struck by a moving truck as a pedestrian? Dr. Donoghue: That is correct.
@wsbradio

Lunch break until 1:10 PM (Eastern). #AhmaudArbery

Racist messages, vile online posts presented in fed trial of Ahmaud Arbery's killers

Arbery’s killers sent racist messages, and one called his daughter’s Black boyfriend a slur, FBI analyst says

FBI analyst Amy Vaughn testified on Wednesday that she found a digital onslaught of messages, mostly from Travis McMichael, in which he allegedly routinely used racial slurs to describe Black people and advocated violence against them.

Vaughn said her investigation led to the discovery of racist online posts by Bryan and bigoted comments Gregory McMichael used to describe Black people.

Vaughn said the FBI also uncovered numerous online posts from Bryan in which he allegedly express his resentment over a relationship his daughter developed with a Black man. In one post Vaughn read in court, Bryan allegedly wrote, "This is the only thing I said I would never accept" and added, "If she doesn’t give a f--- about herself, why should we?"

Vaughan testified that text messages showed Bryan’s running joke with a friend about serving as “grand marshal” of a parade on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. “I think the joke is that he would never do that,” she told the jury. While texting about the holiday, Vaughn added, Bryan referred to Black people using the n-word and the slur “bootlip” and also referenced a “monkey parade.”

While the FBI was unable to get access to Gregory McMichael's phone because of its encryption, Vaughn testified that investigators did find posts he made on Facebook that she read in court, including the one that said White Irish slaves were treated worse than other enslaved groups. “When was the last time you heard an Irishman b----ing about how the world owes them a living?” the meme went on, according to Vaughan.

While the McMichaels claimed they chased Arbery not because he was Black, but because he was trespassing at their neighbor’s house, prosecutors on Wednesday showed the jury videos of Travis McMichael trespassing while on a hunting trip. In one of the videos, Travis McMichael is seen smiling while standing next to "No Trespassing" signs.

Prosecutors also showed the jury an online post in which Gregory McMichael allegedly wrote, "There’s private property and then there’s private property, you know?"

Continued 2/17:

Federal court is back in session at the hate crimes trial of #AhmaudArbery's killers. Judge Lisa Godbey Wood noted that a juror had asked whether there are federal funds available for counseling, to deal with the racist evidence they heard Wednesday. She said there is.
@wsbradio

The Government's 9th witness is Tony Vicent, who works with Glynn County Public Works. They maintain and spend money on public, not private, streets. The defense is up with an early objection to him testifying whether a certain road is "public or private." #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

Prosecution says it's a maintained list of what roads are public vs. private. Amy Copeland says it's not applicable b/c this happened Feb. 2020. Prosecutor says list stretches back 30 years. AC objects again saying "public or private" is a legal conclusion #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

Part of the federal charges are that the McMichaels and Bryan interfered with #AhmaudArbery's civil rights by blocking his access to a public street.
@wsbradio

This is a lot of cross-examination and redirect and cross-exam and objections over the defense fighting whether the streets in the #AhmaudArbery chase, including Satilla Drive, Holmes Road, etc., are "public streets" (photos from courts in June 2020 & Nov. 2021)
@wsbradio

Prosecution witness #11 is Jason Seacrist, Asst. Special Agent in Charge Region 4, Douglas, GA, with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. He covered 2 investigative tracks: Roddie Bryan, and the under-construction home of Larry English. #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

FL0uyOXWUAgruk9

ASAC Seacrist: When Travis McMichael's pickup truck was searched, he noticed that the vanity plate that was on the front of it on Feb. 23, 2020, had been removed. The plate showed the previous Georgia flag, which contained the Confederate battle emblem. #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

FL0vaibXwAAuIG9

During that search in May, the GBI photographed details and bumper stickers on Travis McMichael's truck, including an emblem of the Confederate cross. Tool box, the inside bed of the truck. Initials G.O.B. (?) Doesn't know what that means. #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

On the Roddie Bryan track of the investigation, ASAC Seacrist says he asked Bryan if he was a passerby; Bryan replied, "Not necessarily." #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

Jury now gets clips of the GBI interview with Roddie Bryan, as he describes the chase of #AhmaudArbery and points toward relevant streets. Among his comments, "They started coming from that way (pointing up Holmes Rd) and I tried to block him again."
@wsbradio

Seacrist: Did he turn around on his own, come back this way? Bryan: Mm-hmm. It's a little fuzzy...turns around and starts hauling 🤬🤬🤬 that way. The Black dude come back this way, the white truck went around, turned, here, back down... #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

Bryan: At some point when they were right behind him on this road... they were ahead of him at some point. (Sorry it's hard for me to catch all of this) "When I see him around the corner it was almost like the Black guy was tired of running" #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

ASAC Seacrist notes to prosecutor's question that Roddie Bryan always referred to #AhmaudArbery as "the Black guy," similar.
@wsbradio

Roddie Bryan on clip: "I almost wanna say the Black guy was tired of running, and he was fixing to confront him regardless. He seen me around the corner right there, and he was like, 'Man, I'm done'" That's on Holmes Rd, says ASAC Seacrist. #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

Roddie Bryan said between his driveway and the intersection of Burford & Satilla, he "angled his truck to block of Mr. #AhmaudArbery in an attempt to contain him." Bryan said Arbery tried to get into his truck. "I cornered him really good."
@wsbradio

Roddie Bryan: "One time when I cornered him here, he tried to get in my truck...I cut him off pretty good, now. He was trying to get to the handle." #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

Seacrist says on the driver's side of Roddie Bryan's pickup was evidence of a collision: white fibers, a small dent, and smudges that appeared to be fingerprints, possibly Mr. #AhmaudArbery's. Testifies Bryan said the dent came from Arbery.
@wsbradio

Roddie Bryan said he "angled at #AhmaudArbery, and pushed him off toward the ditch." Seacrist points it out. Bryan pulled onto Burford and went toward the entrance, corner where Satilla Dr comes onto the highway, main entrance to Satilla Shores.
@wsbradio

Seacrist says #AhmaudArbery lived in the vicinity. Prosecutor: So when Ahmaud was running toward the exit to Satilla Shores was he running towards home as well? Seacrist: He was.
@wsbradio

Roddie Bryan talked about how he and #AhmaudArbery both ended up on Holmes Rd. They discussed the route. Point where he made first contact with Arbery, where Bryan tries to block Arbery, who turns down Holmes, Bryan gave chase
@wsbradio

AUSA Bobbi Bernstein asks if Roddie Bryan ever said he'd seen #AhmaudArbery before. They play a clip. "I've never seen this one," Bryan said; referring to Arbery--a Black person, says Seacrist. Defense objects, speculation
@wsbradio

They replayed the Roddie Bryan clip. AUSA repeats section, "The point was, there was a couple Black guys in the neighborhood; I've never seen this one." #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

They move to ASAC Seacrist's interviews with Roddie Bryan in May 2020, which he says he made sure Bryan knew were voluntary. Bryan wasn't in custody, and he brought his lawyer with him. #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

In the May 11 interview, Seacrist learned from Roddie Bryan that he had home surveillance video that recorded part of the incident. Prior to that, no law enforcement agency had known that. They show the jury. #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

FL06Kr5XsAUqAeY

Roddie Bryan told the GBI that on the day of the #AhmaudArbery shooting, he had seen the incident as depicted on that video. Bryan said he did not recognize the driver of the white truck but thought he might've seen the truck itself before
@wsbradio

Seacrist says Roddie Bryan called out, "Y'all got him?" to the men in the white truck. Seacrist asked what were the McMichaels doing at that moment? Bryan said he didn't know it was the McMichaels and he'd only seen one person--the driver, driving. #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

Couldn't hear clearly the clips they've been playing about what Bryan saw that day, & about any possible discussions of neighborood crime...? There was one point the prosecutor reiterated Roddie Bryan said 90% of his security video alerts came from "cats" #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

Roddie Bryan was not sure that white truck lived his neighborhood or if he'd simply seen it driving through there before. Realized at the "end of the event" it was Greg McMichael on other side of the truck #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

Roddie Bryan: I remember seeing Ahmaud turn around & look toward me. [I'm] back a good ways...He runs around right hand side of the truck & I think he's going to cut the corner, go out Satilla Dr & be gone. Next thing I know he's out front of the truck #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

Roddie Bryan said he took video if the guy got away & cops need it. ASAC J. Seacrist: Why'd cops need to know? RB: I figured he'd done something wrong. JS: What made you think that? RB, sighs: Just instinct, man. I don't know. #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

Seacrist: Why'd you think he needed to stop just because someone's yelling at him to stop? Roddie Bryan: I figured he'd stole something or shot somebody, I didn't know. #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

Prosecutor asked what went through Seacrist's head then. Defense objects. Judge allows. Seacrist said he was confused because there were never statements or evidence of a gunshot or a gun out. Jury watched GBI drone video of #AhmaudArbery chase route

It is unfortunate that daddy Greg's cell phone couldn't be accessed for written proof of overt racial prejudice like Travis's evidence. We all know the adage that the "apple doesn't fall far from the tree".

I think the taped evidence of GM's remarks in the criminal trial that found him guilty will be enough to prove that his involvement was based on the fact that AA was black.

It makes me sick to read TM's racial, vile and violent posts, and I now know why the prosecutor went after Roddy, another racist in the neighborhood. When I think back on TM's testimony in court, where he tried to come across as a decent and heroic coast guard figure, it is beyond sickening, knowing what we now know, which we suspected all along. I actually didn't fathom the extent of TM's deep and vile hatred for blacks. He knew, and his lawyer knew, knowing that the prosecution left the racism issue for the next hate crime trial.

I still can't get over the fact that AA's death was ignored with no charges. There are many people who should be held responsible and punished for this miscarriage of justice, not just those at the top of command.

^^^^^ This testimony from today (and this week) is why it was important to have this trial. The state trial was about the murder but since there was no hate crime legislation in the state and there was the possibility of the hate speech alienating jurors we did not hear any of this.

It is so vile and horrific to me that these murderers tried to make it seem like it was Mr. Arbery's fault that he was murdered because he would not listen to their demand to stop. Mr. Arbery's instinct to not stop and try to get away from these men was absolutely correct--- he had to have felt their hatred and willingness to harm him. He was indeed hunted by them.

I can't say whether or not racism is rampant in the police department where Murderer G. McMichael worked but it says a lot that no one, NO ONE, rendered aid to Mr. Arbery, that the police Do Not Cross line was around the "criminal" Mr. Arbery and not the trucks of these murderers. The DA and all of the other cronies may be racist as well. It all begs the question: How many other people of color were lynched, killed, maimed, prosecuted by these people based on racism? I am not sure but I know that Mr. Arbery can't be the only one.

The rest of the 2/17 Tweets:

Jesse Worley, a crime lab scientist with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, is witness #12 in the federal hate crimes trial of #AhmaudArbery's killers (photo from Nov. 2021).
@wsbradio

FL1GR-SX0AMV5vN

Worley did latent fingerprint examination in the case: ridges, whorls, swirls, impressions you see on fingers and palms. She's detailed her background/training and now been qualified as an expert in latent print examination for this trial #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

GBI's Worley testified that she identified a palm print of #AhmaudArbery on Roddie Bryan's truck. The "right writer's palm," like the outer edge of your right hand rests on the paper as you write.
@wsbradio

Two notes from Judge Lisa Godbey Wood before adjourning: cautions lawyers against "vouching," opining on someone's intelligence, etc. AUSA Lyons had mentioned to Worley how she'd previously told Worley how smart she is; Lyons apologized as the judge spoke. #AhmaudArbery
@wsbradio

The judge also made clear before adjourning--she does NOT know which juror asked a marshal about counseling at the end. She has not interacted with any jurors at this juncture. There will be a packet at end of case with directions for counseling. #AhmaudArbery

A federal prosecutor in the hate crimes trial against the men who murdered Ahmaud Arbery said that prosecutors will likely call one more witness before resting their case. The court is in lunch break, with the judge planning to reconvene at 1:15 p.m. Eastern. #AhmaudArbery

Among those who testified today is a woman who served in the Coast Guard with Travis McMichael. She said that while they were stationed in Mississippi, McMichael was critical of her having previously dated a Black man, and that McMichael repeatedly called her a "[N-word]-lover."

When Travis came to work after being off. His demeanor was still “calm” Eventually “the video” was made to the public. The manager described his reaction as “shocked and upset” “What he told me was a lie”
