Still no new court date for Kim or Mark. Still on 1/27/23 per my notes.

Two articles to back up your posts.

WJCL video in article is more informative about hearing.

WJCL video in article is more informative about hearing.

On the first article posted - is this:

“We’re looking at maybe the end of April to send this in for an interim review,” Judge Peed said.

State Prosecutor Matt Breedon said that review by a state supreme court can take months.

Now why would they have to send it to review to the State Supreme Court? That is the first I have ever heard in a case? Is something to do with Georgia law?

and unfortunately the 2nd article - "Is not available in my region"....

Oh - forgot to say - Kim & Mark's court site still does not show a hearing for them on 3/23 or 3/24. Elwyn's only shows 3/23.

I have no legal expertise and no idea if it's what the quote refers to, but I found like while searching:

GA Code Section 5-6-34: In criminal cases involving a capital offense for which the death penalty is sought, a hearing shall be held as provided in Code Section 17-10-35.2 to determine if there shall be a review of pretrial proceedings by the Supreme Court prior to a trial before a jury...

Thanks for this info. So yes - death penalty for this case.

Court info from 3/15/19 thru 1/24/23 reference post #373 here:
https://www.websleuths.com/forums/t...ngham-cnty-20-dec-2018-arrests.406245/page-19

1/26/23 Update: Event (#316): Hearing on challenge to Grand Jury composition before Judge Peed. Attorneys' of record all present. In the pretrial motion hearing, several witnesses including the Effingham County Clerk of Court were called to testify by the defense representing Crocker Sr., Mark Anthony Wright & Kimberley Wright. The motion debated today was whether the grand jury who indicted the three defendants on October 24, 2019 was properly seated. Their defense attorneys said the grand jury was compromised & they’re asking the judge to dismiss the indictment that charged them with murder in the death of the Crocker children. The defense brought in an expert witness that studies jury selections. That witness said one person that made it onto the jury that indicted the defendants was put on list of candidates twice. “That person had a higher chance of being selected in that group of people who were summoned.” Former Clerk of Superior Court Elizabeth Hursey who served in 2019 said duplications are common for many reasons. The defense also questioned the people who were excused from the grand jury. No ruling has been made. Next Motions hearing re DNA evidence on 1/27/23.
1/27/23 Update: Event (#319): Ex-parte hearing before Judge Peed. Ms. Bell present for defendant & addressed concerns. Event (#320): Motion hearing re grand jury composition continued. All attorneys & defendant present. Crocker, Sr. was interrogated by police for 8 ½ hours. The defense said the first 4 hours weren't recorded, but they want the court to listen to the second 4 ½ hours of interviews. Instead of reviewing those in court, the lawyers agreed to allow Chief Judge F. Gates Peed a private review in an effort to save time. On Friday morning, the state was originally scheduled to examine a witness about this but canceled. In turn, Judge Peed told both lawyers he wants written briefs on the grand jury challenge by the end of February. State prosecutors filed a motion to present audio & video evidence when the trial comes. Court will meet again for two days in March (3/23 & 3/24/23) for what is expected to be the final pretrial motions hearing. Overnight, the defense prepared a subpoena & written statement to be delivered to the FBI regarding DNA evidence, what relevance it has for the case & how they plan on using it. Next Motion hearing regarding State's motions #1 to 4 & 6 & defendant's motions #59 to 62 on 3/23/23 @ 9am & 3/24/23. [State: Motion #1: motion to prohibit jail clothing. On Kim & Mark - they still do not have a court date for 3/23/23 - so I guess that was cancelled for them. And it does not show a hearing on 3/24/23 for Elwyn. So I shall leave them all on 3/23/23 & watch for any more updates on them all. At least I got to shorten them up a bit. :)

Well it looks like Kim nor Mark had a hearing on 3/23 or 3/24/23. There is no update in the court site for them. They are still on the last motions hearing on 1/27/23 - where I moved them (back!). Sorry for raising hopes! :(

but - Elwyn did have a hearing on 3/23/ & 3/24/23. But no update on his next court date.

These articles were on one of my feeds this morning. I haven't had a chance to look at them but maybe you can start gathering info from them.
You can be sure I will be looking around for some other ones.

It's hard to believe the lawyers are still arguing after four years.
