UPDATE: An updated arrest warrant offers new details into the death of a 22-month old toddler. Justin Ross Harris stopped at Chik-fil-A for breakfast and then put his son back in a car seat and the two drove to Harris’ office, according to an arrest warrant obtained Wednesday.

When Harris got to work at a nearby Home Depot corporate office, he left the toddler in the backseat, the warrant states.
“During lunch said accused did access the same vehicle through the driver’s side door to place an object into the vehicle,” the warrant states. “Said accused then closed the door and left the car, re-entering his place of business.”
At 4:16 p.m., Harris left work and drove to an Akers Mill Road shopping center, where he stopped and asked for help for the child.

New warrant filed today says Cobb father went back to car at lunch & left toddler there. Watch @RossCavittWSB on #wsbtv at noon

Newscast, most info. we know except a couple of points:

-Harris insisted he forgot son was in back seat in 3.6 mile drive to work
-Police searching for motive, have not come up with solid motive so far
-Source would not say when search on computer was done
-Police examining evidence to prove wasn't accidental/or accidental

Interesting tidbits on twitter.

@RandyTravisFox5
Cobb law enforcement source: Ross Harris claims he forgot about son in backseat during the .02 miles it took to get from restaurant to work.

***I must have been looking at the wrong chickfila, I thought it was a little over 3 miles.

@RandyTravisFox5
Cobb law enforcement source: Ross Harris offered reason y he searched online 4 how long it takes to kill animal in car. Details@ 5

Fox 5 saying right now 3.6 miles to chicfila and work and maybe 15 min drive.

UPDATE -
And they just corrected it... Less than a .5 mile

5:00 pm newscast:

-They believe he was alive Wed. morning
-Drive is only 3.6 miles (see below for more)
-Claims he forgot he was in the back seat and forgot to drop him off at work daycare
-Police have said the distance news reporting is incorrect. Not 3.6 miles, actually less than a HALF mile. (2/10 of a mile)
-Someone conducted search how long it takes for animal to die in hot car.
- Coming up at 6 the #1 reason the suspected him and more details. (Of course.)

6:00 pm Newscast:

-Preliminary COD, appears he died of hypothermia.
-Message from police chief. This has been controversial, people believe father is a victim. The chain of events does not point towards simple negligence. The evidence will point towards more.
-Very early on it was clear serious crime had been committed
-LE sources say they were immediately suspicious
-The timing of the discovery makes them skeptical
-He claims he didn't realize for 1.4 miles
-LE says the smell was overwhelming, clue #1 he wasn't telling the truth. The first of many
-LE source says the search made them more suspicious (How long it takes animal to die)
-No word on motive, currently

That's when I lost my connection. I have no idea if the elaborated further.

The Cobb County Medical Examiner's Office said Wednesday that toxicology results are still pending but that it believes the cause of death was hyperthermia and the manner of death was homicide. Hyperthermia is a condition in which the temperature of the body spikes due to the heat.

Wonder if they are thinking tox will reveal an OD of meds that caused Cooper to sleep or become lethargic while in the hot car.

Press conference on JVM just now:

Mike Bowman, Cobb Co. Police information:
Officers were on routine patrols when they pulled into parking lot
Father was taken to crimes against persons office to be interviewed
Mother was interviewed at headquarters
Two warrants: cruelty to child second degree--key words "with criminal negligence" causes cruel or excessive physical or mental pain. And felony murder which is when in commission of a felony causes the death of another human being
Several search warrants
Awaiting toxicology
COD hyperthermia, manner is homicide (explains meaning death caused by another)
Asked about going to car, officer said that "statement was made"
Asked about computer search, replied "won't get into specifics if the case"
Asked about cruelty charges downgrade, replied that warrant was changed to support the factual evidence in the case, wanted to make sure verbiage was correct to substantiate charges. Negligence could happen to anyone, but gross negligence indicates other circumstances.
Investigators must have probable cause for charges and swear and affirm everything is correct before magistrate. Magistrate determines charges.
Everything is active and fluid and this is an ongoing investigation.
Investigators know timeline of events.
Still awaiting toxicology...could be a week, could be a month.

Per the above link:
"This investigation, although similar in nature to others, must be weighed on its own merit and the facts that lead our detectives to charge the father must be presented at the appropriate time during the judicial process.

"The chain of events that occurred in this case does not point toward simple negligence and evidence will be presented to support this allegation."
