Plead not guilty. Held without bail.
Trial began on 5/2/22 with jury selection. Trial begins on 5/9/22. 12 jurors & 6 alternates.

5/5/22 Thursday, Jury Selection Day 3: 48 jurors (another article said 50) were selected on Wednesday. On Thursday, the court will strike the jury. This is when the final jurors out of the 48 (or 50) are chosen. The court is selecting 12 jurors & 6 alternates. Trial begins with opening statements begin on Monday, 5/9/22.
Accomplice:
*Bo Dukes: Found guilty (3/21/19) and sentenced to 25 years. 10/22/20 Update: A hearing set for 11/24/20, in Wilcox County for Dukes. The judge will consider Dukes' request for a new trial.

Trial starts Monday, May 9, for the man charged with murdering Georgia teacher Tara Grinstead, 30. Opening statements are set for 9 a.m ET. You can watch in the player above.

Defendant Ryan Alexander Duke allegedly carried out the killing back in 2005 and recruited friend Bo Dukes (no relation) to help get rid of the body, but he has said in court that Bo Dukes is the real killer.

Charges in Irwin County, Georgia, are malice murder, two counts of felony murder, aggravated assault, burglary, and concealing the death of another person.

#Defense counsel John Merchant confirms that #TaraGrinstead door had two locks - one being a bolt. This goes to the defense theory of a false confession; that the alleged confession does not match the physical evidence in the case

If Bo Dukes is called by either side and is asked if he killed #TaraGrinstead and he takes the 5th, that would be an amazing benefit for the defense. If he does not take the 5th, he can be cross examined about his pending Rape/Kidnapping charges. Either way -Bo helps the defense!

Dykes testifies to months before Grinstead disappeared he was inside #TaraGrinstead's home with her when someone starting banging on her door. He was yelling, "Please come out and talk to me!" It was Anthony Vickers. Vicker would tell police he had a relationship with Grinstead

The drive from Perry was about 1.5 hours. Dykes is not a suspect but his failure to contact local police early on when #TaraGrinstead went missing likely impaired the investigation. Notably - he didn’t see any latex glove

This is my belief.

This has always been my beilef, and the one that makes the most sense. Bo Dukes was the dominant one. Tara was buried on his family's property. There is no way that Bo would help Ryan if the roles were reversed, IMO. He especially is not going to bury Tara on his family's property. I can see Bo planting the glove to frame Ryan, too.
