A missing 23 year-old German woman 'Madelaine W', who filed a complaint of sexual abuse against her stepfather a year ago, has been found buried under a concrete terrace in the family's allotment garden in Essen, Germany. She was bound, gagged and police don't yet know if she was alive when she was thrown into the pit.

The stepfather is alleged to be the father of the woman's now two year-old child. The 21 year-old half-brother of Madelaine is also in custody. Madelaine had been missing for only a week, but had been waiting for a year for prosecutors to decide if her allegations of sexual abuse by her stepfather were credible. They have made no comment on why they took so long, but they seem to have mentioned she should have gone to a safe shelter, if the translation's correct?

The family members immediately fell under suspicion because of their deception and alibis not checking out.

My German is pretty rusty and rudimentary, but i think one sentence in the article which is still in German suggests that she took her baby and fled to a women's shelter for a short period. It does not explain why she may have started to live back with the family again, but does quote a neighbour who says something about the stepfather having a really strong controlling hold over her.

If you think that she lived in the house with him from being little more than a baby herself, depending on how much of a control freak he was, he had ample opportunity to completely dominate and crush her spirit.

    How tragic.

Acc to the bild.de article Zwiebel linked above, she did. It says the stepfather came to Sachsen in 1991 where he met Madeleine's mother who had just given birth to Madeleine. In 1992 half brother Daniel was born. In 1994 they (mother and stepfather) married.

Before coming to Germany he had been in jail for a bank robbery in Austria  What a piece of work.

Neighbors are said to have witnessed the stepfather from early on to be very controlling of little Madeleine.

Rest in peace, darling Madeleine. I'm sorry for the pain you had to face in your short years of life.

    Justice will be served. :rose:
