Well if they believed that he killed her all hope is gone. They have to believe in his innocence to keep hoping she'll be found alive. They probably don't know more than we do. Would you accept your child is dead because of some router data and hairs in the car trunk? I can understand them to some extent, I just find it odd they give all these interviews to the tabloids. They should talk directly with LE and let a spokesperson handle the press, maybe hire a PI. I read they have money. imo moo

Logic and sensibility would see the family doing as you suggest. They are so completely at odds with LE IMO. LE must have more they are withholding from the family & the public. Right?

Missing Rebecca: Police are looking for the girl on A12
The police start a new search on Saturday. When used on the highway and mantrailer dogs are in use.

Search for Rebecca continues
The search for Rebecca is still going on: As the Berlin police told the short message service Twitter, today is again looking for the missing girl. In the search on the highway between Friedersdorf and Frankfurt (Oder) and personal detection dogs are used. Therefore, it comes to disabilities and short closures at departures and accesses of the A12.

The police from Brandenburg supports the search operation. The Berlin police are traveling with a team of Einsatzhundschaft. Also investigators of the homicide are there. Depending on the development of the search, it may also come to short-term complete locking in both directions.

Crime expert Petermann: "Every single track should be checked" +++
The profiler and former Bremer murder investigator Axel Petermann sees the police in the case of missing Rebecca on a very difficult task. "To pursue so many clues, of course, is a huge job. Especially for those who literally run their heels when checking the tracks, "said Petermann the German Press Agency. "Every single track should be checked. With each whistleblower should be contacted, as personally as possible and not only on the phone. You have to record everything in writing, there are traces and comparisons with other whistleblowers. "So far, the police received 1500 clues"

It's hard to judge results from the outside
Petermann (66), who once directed a murder commission and today works as a writer and "crime scene" consultant, emphasized: "That is only possible with a lot of staff. If there's only one homicide squad with about ten people, that's difficult. It will take a long time to get all the hints out. "

The results and circumstantial evidence of the investigation are difficult to assess from the outside, said Petermann. "But surely the investigators need more. Ultimately, one must be able to prove what is supposed: that Rebecca was killed in her sister's house by her brother-in-law. This could be possible via traces proving how she was killed or by testimonies or a confession. Also, the location of a dead person says a lot about what happened to this person and why the perpetrator chose this place. "

Destiny of Rebecca could be clarified only after years
A corpse could still be found after a long time. "It happens over and over again that killed people were well hidden, that someone buried them," he said. "Look at the case of Peggy, who was accidentally found in a forest after 15 years in 2016." So it could be years later that Rebecca's fate is cleared up. "How far then traces are usable, depends on the time of finding. But also, how the missing person was clothed and in which environment the corpse lay and in what condition it is ", emphasized Petermann. Lawyers, forensic scientists and DNA experts could sometimes achieve surprisingly good results.

In this article, you can find the official announcement of the search by LE Berlin on Twitter.

So they're using mantrailers today and are searching around several exits of the A12 it says in the article linked above. Probably to pinpoint where FR got out of the car? Mantrailers look for live people, not for bodies right?

Could it..?
15-year-old Rebecca Reusch from Berlin is still missing. The police again searched for the girl with dogs - and followed a trail.

And indeed they sensed something. The forces had followed from the junction Fürstenwalde-West a lane and come to a southern direction to a highway in the direction of Scharmützelsee, said a police spokeswoman. "Something the dogs will have thundered," said a spokeswoman for the "image". It is completely unclear what this is.

Probably the search will continue there next week. For Sunday, initially no search was planned. The dogs need rest.

Blocking at motorway exits
In action on Saturday were about ten forces of Einsatzhundschaft, investigators of the homicide, colleagues of the Brandenburg police and three dogs. The action started at 10.30. There were disabilities and short closures at motorway exits.

The Brandenburg highway police blocked for the Berlin colleagues on the highway in the direction of Frankfurt (Oder) and the short-term departures, explained the spokesman for the Brandenburg police headquarters, Mario Heinemann. Thus, it came about at the exit Storkow to a traffic jam of three kilometers in length.

Search with a special beagle
Recently there had been several police searches in forests near the A12 southeast of Berlin. The background should have been evidence of the car of the suspect brother in law Rebecca. Car trips to Brandenburg had substantiated the suspicion against the 27-year-old German. The car was registered on the morning of February 18 and on the evening of February 19 on the A12 by an automatic detection system.

On Thursday, officials with a special dog inspected a specific area, a police spokesman said. Where exactly this area was, he did not want to communicate for "tactical reasons".

"However, we can not provide more detailed information on the search with the special dog," said a police spokesman t-online.de, the investigative work of the police should be protected. The police continue to assume that Rebecca is already dead, the spokesman said.

Search ended for today:

"In the case of the missing Rebecca, the Berlin police have ended their mission with search dogs in Brandenburg for the time being without a find. The emergency services had followed a track from the junction Fürstenwalde-West of the highway 12a lane and come to the south to a highway in the direction of Scharmützelsee, said a police spokeswoman. Probably the search will continue there next week. For Sunday, therefore, initially nothing was planned. The dogs needed a rest, they said."

During a visit to the still small Gutsdörfer Saarow and Pieskow in 1881, the poet Theodor Fontane called the lake Märkisches Meer, a name that is still popular in tourism advertising today.

The entire lake area belongs to the municipality Bad Saarow . Further adjacent municipalities are Reichenwalde , Wendisch Rietz and Diensdorf-Radlow (all office Scharmützelsee ), in which a comprehensive tourism infrastructure for the use of the lake (bathing, sailing, diving, fishing) and its environment (cycling, hiking, golf, tennis and also inline skating) is to be found. According to this latest article the BIL has not filed a detention complaint:

"Does the brother-in-law remain in custody?

This is decided by an investigating judge if his lawyer submits an application for detention. According to the prosecutor, this has not happened so far. A trial against the brother-in-law would be theoretically possible, but without a corpse difficult."

Also:
"Could not there be other explanations or perpetrators?

Rebecca's family assures the innocence of the brother-in-law. He has refuted all the evidence and also explains the trips to Brandenburg, say father and mother in interviews. They think that Rebecca could have arranged to meet someone from the internet and was kidnapped. It was also speculated that Rebecca could have run away, but the family ruled that out in interviews. Rebecca had been reliable, and there had been no conflicts. Against the theories speaks that Rebecca's cell phone did not log in wireless cells outside the house. She could have turned her cell phone off in the house and then started walking. The phone was not turned back on."

Very encouraging! I know that dogs sometimes miss a scent but can they also have "false positives", detecting something that is not there? I never read of that possibility so I'm hopeful they really found a trail today!

About "Maxi":

The Instagram profile of the unknown was deleted two days after the disappearance of Rebecca, said the father to the "Berliner Morgenpost". The father believes that she wanted to meet him. According to BZ information the police followed up but could find no evidence for it. An investigator: "The family is losing their credibility because of their public statements!"

1500 Hinweise, viele Fragen – aber keine Spur im Fall Rebecca

Mother and sister make different statements about Rebecca's internet acquaintance

Rebecca's mother hinted that her daughter had met a man on the Internet before disappearing. "There was indeed someone there, a Max or Maxi," she told the " Bunte ". "He wants to visit her soon." Rebecca told her about him in January. The mother had then forbidden her to meet alone with the unknown.

Vivien, Rebecca's sister, now tells the "Bild" newspaper : "Becci has shown me photos of him, but he does not live in Berlin at all, it was harmless, he is under 18, he would never have come alone on a Monday morning. " Therefore, the boy can not have anything to do with the disappearance.

Lots of restaurants around Scharmützelsee. Maybe he knows somebody there.

50 min drive from Maurerweg to the lake.
That is interesting and does not seemed to be far fetched that BIL has build up connections in the catering industry..

So,according to this article,it does suggest that sis. V,seems to distance herself from Max(i) theory that was put out in the media..?
That is the impression that I get...anyway.

Strangely enough, weeks ago I had thought she would only bring a blanket if she were meeting up with someone under 18 because more likely than not they’d be living with parents still too and thus the need to meet somewhere more public with the blanket... I hope the police do in fact check out the Maxi angle, if anything just to clear the kid for good in order to move on with the previous searching

Another thing is that apparently the family of the BIL live not very far from the area, so it's quite possible he knows the area well.

Regarding "Maxi" I think it's mainly the mother who believes in this possibility. I feel really sad for her, she seems very distraught. Of course she will hold on to hope as long as she can.

Police response:
"To the expressions of the family concerning the alleged Internet acquaintance the police would not comment. "We focus on our investigation. Everything else, what this person or that person said, we do not evaluate, "said spokesman Stefan Petersen."

I did found this interesting and worth a mention,
"they can even smell the traces of people in a moving car. " from:

-The difference to other detection dogs is that these dogs can perceive different human odors and distinguish from each other. The sense of smell of these dogs is particularly fine, they can even smell the traces of people in a moving car. This work is exhausting for the dogs - so the "Mantrailer" should rest on Sunday. Whether the police on Saturday with odor samples of Rebecca or the brother-in-law has searched, was not known.

So they would seemingly ignore that there could be a connection with someone out on the 'net? Why does that not make sense to me? SMH Ugh!
