Search of Gilgo Beach serial killing suspect's home on Long Island enters its 5th day

Um, Sugar Bear's whole body was found, as far as I know. The Wikipedia lists when and where his torso and limbs were found.

Thanks - just remembered his head was discovered by skaters. I guess he is the only dismembered LISK-related that was dismembered but all main parts found? Again correct me if needed

I mean, I added it to my Amazon cart the second I heard about it because I think it sounds fascinating and wouldn't question anyone owning it for that reason... UNLESS it turns out they were a SK. Then it becomes a very different story.

If my family member was accused of being an SK not sure I'd want that book around. I might shelf it or put it in storage, not on the kitchen table. Not sure whose book it is and why they are reading it.
I guess we will wait and find out.

Nobody will want it for the house but I think the property would be easy to sell and likely worth a fortune in today's market. Can the city confiscate it if he's found guilty? How does that work? I feel sorry for the neighbors with that home looming over their heads like a dark cloud, and having to deal with all the police presence is upsetting in communities. MOO.

I think they could sell it and someone could rebuild on top of it and that would be best, versus a strange eyesore with a creepy reminder an SK once lived there, but it's up to them, not us. I would NOT want to live next door anymore.

This is from July 2023, and I assume since LE (Suffolk PD, NY State Police, etc) have recently been revisiting Manorville victim locations it's okay to post this in this thread. My graphic question is... does the statement in this report suggest two of the victims were likely hog-tied or what? I know what hog-tying is but I've never heard "bound in ball" to describe how hunters bind prey. Maybe it's just my lack of hunting knowledge. Can someone explain?

“Their leg area was bound in a ball,” one former investigator told PIX11 News. “You’d have to be a hunter to do something like that.”

Mack, who wasn’t identified for 20 years, and Taylor were later tied to the Gilgo Beach serial killer case when their skulls and hands were found along Ocean Parkway — 40 miles west — during a police search in the spring of 2011.

It would be unsettling for the neighbors next door to know they lived right beside a serial killer all those years, and never suspected him. They knew he was weird and off-putting but not a murderous SK. It would be creepy living around that home IMO.

I know they say no link to the Atlantic City 4 but I actually think the ladies all look like the Gilgo 4
Do you know why LE is firm in their belief that the AC 4 are not related? I’ve heard this countless times but don’t know why the AC cases have been ruled out from this case. I cannot fully believe that, my gut tells me it could still be RH.

I hope it’s not too indecent to mention but as far as missing body parts:

1. Valerie Mack - legs, arms and lower body.
2. Karen Vergata - torso, possibly upper legs, neck, arms and possibly some teeth.
3. Jessica Taylor - same as Valerie.
4. Sugar bear - everything except his head.
5. Peaches - they have the torso and something else, unspecified.
6. Child intact
7. Asian male intact
8,9,10,11,12 - G4 + SG - intact

Correct me if I’m wrong please. I’d like to nail down what parts might be possible to find.
But they did such an intensive search in July. Have they found an hidden room or something?

The way the girls were left was just so different - the body positioning was so strange and precise for AC, the posing was obviously deeply important to the perpetrator, and the timeframe was completely different. There were years between some of the GB4, and all the AC victims were killed over five weeks.

I don't see a connection, personally.

I think when, not if, RH is found guilty they should bulldoze that house to the ground. They've done that in a lot of these types of crimes.

I'm not familiar with the process, but if they did bulldoze the house, would they put the lot on the market for sale and would the family be entitled to the proceeds of that money? Or would it be made into some type of garden or something?

I’m curious about this too. If it’s been signed over to his wife then I suppose it’s her decision to make?

Paint chips? What in the world can that possibly be about? And rope in a case where the bodies were discovered about 13-14 years ago and the murders took place even longer ago. Unless the twine / rope had been stored inside and recently wrapped around this post, can it possibly have any DNA or other evidence?

I'm guessing analysis of all the electronic devices and other evidence collected suggests the twine/rope might possibly have value. I'm glad they're taking no chances of missing anything.

That house paint is red. Maybe it isn’t paint chips but dried blood spots that are being examined and taken.

We don’t know what evidence led LE to this second search. Among many possibilities: It could be other (alive) victims talking to LE and sharing where particular assaults occurred or it could be that electronic devices previously taken have yielded written or photographic evidence about what assaults occurred and where, so LE knows where to look and what to look for and samples are being taken to corroborate.

Paint chips and pigment fragments can last for many years. The components of paint can be identified by archaeologists centuries later. It is possible that there were identifiable paint fragments or chips buried with human remains. It is reasonable to assume that investigators want to check if there's a match between paint evidence found on victims to paint at Heuermann's house.

I seem to recall that the investigation of the Green River Killer (GRK) developed information from microscopic paint fragments found with the victims, and that the paint was a vehicle paint, probably a truck paint. The GRK, Gary Ridgway, worked in a Kenworth truck assembly plant.

As far as the rope is concerned, people may have spools of rope stored for years, depending on how much rope they use. If a burial site yielded some rope, the investigators may want to check if any rope at Heuermann's house is a match for what was found.

As to the paint chips, paint up under the eaves would be well protected from the elements. Perhaps that's why that location was chosen. To compare with possible paint chips from the victims as @Warwick1991 suggested. If (and I doubt it) the home has been repainted (and not just that backyard panel), that same area may have been missed and the layer corresponding to the dates of the murders may be exposed/accessible.

The rope, possibly to compare to rope found with victims. Even if that rope was used on the home more recently, judging by the State of the home and its collections, there's a good chance it's not new rope, that is old rope from an existing hoard of rope.

Potentially lucrative leads, especially if they contact materials from RH's home to other unsolved murders.

The police are working so hard literally leaving no stone unturned on their fifth day searching the house yet again. In the midst of horror I am so grateful there are heroic people who care and spend their working hours determined to prevent terror for young girls. There is good in the world. (I know not all police did well or are heroes but no profession is perfect.this team is really going all out. Hallelujah.)

The focus of a six-day search of the Massapequa Park property of alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex A. Heuermann was on the home's basement, an attorney for his family told Newsday Sunday.

Attorney Robert Macedonio, accompanied Heuermann's daughter Victoria to the home shortly after being notified by the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office that the search had ended.

“It seems to be the focus was in the basement,” Macedonio said after spending about a half-hour inspecting the condition of the house after investigators left.

Macedonio said he planned to notify Heuermann's defense attorney, Michael J. Brown, of what he observed in the house but wasn't “at liberty to discuss” why exactly he believed investigators focused on the basement.

This is why Macedonio and the other attorneys are working for Rex's family. It's to acquire and share information that Rex and his attorney would not otherwise have access to. It's to discuss and question relevant people on the outside that Rex H can't talk to without raising suspicion. Its as I suspected, along with a couple other things. Question is, who is paying them, especially in the early months before the $million$ contract was signed with NBC?
