Without news of Marie-Pierre Arfel, resident from Gassin, missing on the island of Sikinos, in Greece, since Wednesday June 12, 2024, the relatives decided to launch a fund to finance the services of a lawyer or a private detective.
Perhaps she was cautious about some things but less cautious when hiking. We don't know our family members as well as we think we do. How many times have we heard "He/she would never do X" from family members and then evidence shows that he/she did, in fact, do X.In the first video, Marie-Pierre Arfel's niece claims to be unable to contact either the consul or the commissioner in charge of the investigation. At the start of the video, the journalist states that the 2 French women did not know each other. He said they were experienced hikers. The son of Françoise Bouuteaux specifies that his mother would never have ventured onto a ridge line and that she would have stayed on the marked trails because she was cautious.
Those are typical “missings”, likely a mix of dementia, suicide, slick roads, alcohol, car driving off cliff, and they aren’t summer events. Same as in the US.For those interested, there is a thread here about people going missing in Greece who are not tourists.

I wonder if the family has proof that Françoise and Marie-Pierre actually went hiking together on Wednesday morning.This case is very strange. My cell phone would probably not hold a charge long enough to send photos and texts 48 hours after setting out. I might have that timeline wrong, but it seems they possibly left early Wed 6/12 and didn’t text until early Fri 6/14? I thought this was misadventure, but I wonder now if they were robbed and harmed?
The families filed two complaints, including one for “kidnapping and sequestration” at the Draguignan judicial court.
