7/14/23 Friday, Jury Section Day 4: (952): Court convened without prospective jurors present; case called & appearances were entered by counsel & defendant in custody. Jury pre-selection commenced. Court again reconvened without jurors. Court raised trial order & stated has not filed a witness list. Defense noted it was previously filed. State placed on the record court's previous rulings re disclosure by defense & has not complied with Court Order & should be precluded from calling witnesses due to element of surprise & presented argument. Defense stated its position. Court made its finds & stated 2 years were wasted waiting for defense to produce expert witnesses. Court stated defense violated HRPP Rule 16 as well as other court orders. Court invoked HRPP FUle 16(e)(9) & as a sanction, will preclude defense from calling any expert witnesses or producing such claimed reports not turned over to the State & Court. Defense clarified they are not pursuing 704 defense. State presented further argument. Bailiff noted no shows of propsective jurors. 9:18am: Propsective jurors present. Jul. 19—Trial got underway Tuesday for Hailey Dandurand, "the girl with the pink hair, " accused of the gruesome Dec. 7, 2017, murder of Telma Boinville at a North Shore vacation rental.

Danduran's attorneys are shifting all the blame to Brown, saying court documents show he physically abused Dandurand, and "browbeat her mercilessly, brutally, in the weeks preceding " the murder.

Brown is awaiting sentencing in August. He was tried and convicted Jan. 20 of second-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping and burglary.

At his own trial, Brown claimed Dandurand was the mastermind of the murder and other crimes. He admitted to the kidnappings and burglary, helping to tie Boinville and taking her daughter from their truck and into the house at Dandurand's direction. But he claimed he was shocked when he came into the house and discovered Boinville's bloody body.

Evidence specialists recount grisly crime scene in North Shore murder trial

Prosecutors are trying to prove that Dandurand played an active role in the murder. Dandurand’s attorney maintains that Dandurand’s then-boyfriend Stephen Brown is solely responsible for Boinville’s death and that he coerced her to kidnap Boinville’s then 8-year-old daughter.

I shall be out tomorrow, Tuesday for surgery (putting a stent in my carotid artery) - so I probably won't be back posting until Thursday. And will try & get what happened then.

I will have LOTS to catch up on - so hopefully this trial ends soon! :)
