SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Sioux City Police are looking for 36-year-old Brenda Payer, of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska after she went missing last week at a local restaurant.

According to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women USA, Payer was last seen at McDonald’s on Hamilton Boulevard when she notified her family she had dropped her mother’s car off.

Payer, who goes by Gaga, is 5’4″ and about 140 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Sioux City Police Department Sgt. Jeremy McClure confirmed Tuesday that Payer was reported missing on Sept. 29. He said the case has been assigned to the investigations division, meaning a detective will work on the case.

A search will be held on Oct. 7, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., with the search starting at Urban Native Center, located at 151 Geneva St. The search is being hosted by Great Plains Action Society, whose mission is, in part, to help look for missing indigenous individuals.

Update: McClure said foul play is not suspected but there is a concern for her mental health and the department believes she may be in crisis.

A search has been organized to help locate a missing member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. Thirty-six-year-old Brenda Payer was last seen late last week at the McDonald’s on Hamilton Boulevard in Sioux City.

Help is also coming from the Great Plains Action Society, which organized the upcoming search. Here’s Board Member and Native American Advocate Terry Medina, who has known Payer for years.

“Brenda is very loving and compassionate. She’s a great mother with two beautiful daughters.”

“The past year-and-a-half has been rough. There have been reports of sightings of her in South Sioux City and other areas. We're just trying to track her down to get her back on medication. I couldn’t imagine something like that happening to family members I love.”

Community members are being asked to meet at the Urban Native Center to search and distribute fliers from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday.

The Sioux City Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating 36-year-old Brenda Payer of Sioux City.

Her family reported that they last had contact with her on Thursday September 29 when she parked her van in the McDonalds parking lot in the 700 block of Hamilton Blvd. Since then, her friends and family have been unable to contact her.

Payer is a native American woman with black hair and brown eyes, she is 5 foot 8 inches tall, and weighs 170 pounds.

We do not suspect foul play but are concerned for her mental health as she may be in crisis. We would like to locate her to ensure she is safe.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is encouraged to contact the department at 279-6960. We are also encouraging Brenda to contact us to let us know if she needs assistance.

FBI has joined the case.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Sioux City Community Policing Sergeant Thomas Gill told KCAU 9 that the FBI has gotten involved in the search for Brenda Payer.

Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women USA said that 36-year-old Brenda Payer, of Sioux City, was last seen dropping off a relative’s vehicle at the McDonald’s on Hamilton Boulevard and was reported missing on September 29 according to Sergeant Jeremy McClure.

A SIOUX CITY WOMAN WHO WAS MISSING SINCE LATE SEPTEMBER HAS BEEN FOUND SAFE OUT OF STATE.

36-YEAR-OLD BRENDA PAYER’S FAMILY HAD LAST HAD CONTACT WITH HER ON SEPTEMBER 29TH WHEN SHE PARKED HER VAN IN THE MCDONALD’S PARKING LOT IN THE 700 BLOCK OF HAMILTON BLVD.

SIOUX CITY POLICE SAY THEY WERE CONTACTED BY THE FAMILY THIS (TUESDAY) MORNING THAT FAMILY MEMBERS HAD LOCATED HER AT AN OUT OF STATE LOCATION, AND THAT SHE WAS DOING WELL AND UNHARMED.

THE FAMILY SAYS THEY APPRECIATE THE PUBLIC’S AND POLICE HELP IN LOCATING HER
