Found Deceased IA - David Schultz, 53, Wall Lake, 21 November 2023 #3

“It’s a huge ravine right in that area it’s giving us challenges in how to get to where the individual is at so we can continue, we’re having to get extra equipment and calling in specialists to get to it so we can do our investigation,” Houchin said.
He seemed very upset making this announcement, not keeping it together like most LE try to do. Wondering what that may mean.

Southwest of Omaha NE. It's not real close, but the description of Jeans and Sweetshirt fit.
Yikes. SS said that DS went to Omaha when he previously "disappeared". It seems kind of random and improbable that this would be him, but this is an interesting twist : /

SS as quoted in post #472 from this thread: "Then after another question, she stated, "I think he went to Omaha, no, he told me, well, not "I think", he went to Omaha, for awhile. Worked and then ended up coming back."

He probably is concerned about all the rain they have had . Should the body have been shallow buried or just left in the proximity; and this terrain being quite rugged, they may be looking at determining where it actually came from.
Floating in the middle of a creek offers little yield of some valuable clues possibly left at the initial crime scene".

At the 3:00 mark in his video, tho, he said “we haven’t had a lot of rain or moisture, so for it to float far would have been difficult”.

That makes me think they can see it’s in some weird position or something about it that looks very suspicious and that it may have been placed there. Just my guess from how he phrased things.

I grew up on a farm north of this area.

134th goes north out of Waverly and is cut off by Salt Creek. On the north side of Salt creek 134th continues north to Rock Creek road.

Salt Creek is usually shallow with sand bars and logs. Unless high water or flooding. It also has 12'+ cut banks in some areas. The body appears to have been found between the confluences of Jordan and Rock Creeks on Salt Creek.

Outside the creeks and trees growing around them it is all farmland in the immediate area. You can get to 134th and Salt Creek from Waverly or east Lincoln in a pretty short time period.

My error on the rain there. Some other sites I follow have been mentioning heavy rain/thunderstorms across the midwest for the last 3 months. Misinterpreted "floating in the middle of the creek" as a full flowing drainage.
Question. If it is floating in the middle, could it have been weighted, broke partially loose, and now hung there?

How comes search and rescue can't retrieve the body?
I don't think it's a matter of they can't, seems more like they ran out of daylight. This is what they're dealing with (Google Maps view from the bridge about 400 yards away). Water level is really low right now, they shouldn't have any trouble retrieving it. Probably more concerned about preserving evidence.

Flat bottom Jon boat will do. Actually I’m pretty sure hip waders would do.
We used a jon boat...but when it is low there are places you can walk across. When it is high, it can be dangerous, especially during spring flooding.

Not sure what the creek levels currently are there.

Tonight I was watching on Netflix "Missing: Dead or Alive?" Ep 3. It follows the case of a man who went missing while on his way to cash a $10000 scratch ticket. His pickup truck was found abandoned on the interstate. Investigators later found his body in the forest, they had missed it by meters the first search.

The man had stripped his clothing along the trail. His COD was hypothermia and his toxicology showed meth in his system - enough to cause a psychosis/paranoia and run away from his vehicle, strip naked, and die. His wife had NO clue he used drugs, but his adult children had an idea.

I'm not saying DS used meth, but the parallels between the two circumstances really caught my attention. Two adult men, abandoned trucks, in the middle of doing a task, clothing removed, etc.

Just thought I'd mention it incase anyone else has heard of this case.

imo
ETA: if you look up this show, you might see some speculation that it's staged, however it is a real show, real detectives, real cases

I can think if at least two other cases with the same scenario, although I assume there is more than one possible contributing cause. I consider it a medical episode, and that was my first thought in this case.

This appears to be from the N 141st bridge which is not in sight of the area of the body, which is supposed to be close to the intersection of Mill Road and N 134th, where there is a deep ravine, as described by the Sheriff. I just don't see LE making up something that will be on the news and challenged if there is no ravine. Another member already described the high steep banks in that area.

I don’t believe this body is DS. During the interview the sheriff was very adamant about it not being Tyler Goodrich. (A missing person from the Lincoln area. )They did fly drones over the body. He basically said the characteristics of this body does not match Tyler. So with those statements it makes me wonder if this is a POC moo

i mean, people need to eat? weird for the daughter to vomit then all go to dinner though
Some people call dinner the meal that would be eaten at noon. Others call dinner the meal you eat in the evening.

The meal Sarah and her daughter had was around noon time. Two hours after learning David couldn't be found. Daughter vomited later in the evening after arriving where the truck was found parked. No mention of going out to dinner after vomiting.
